the English voice acting is really bad, like unbearably bad, and it looks like a lot of it is lifted Gamecube assets that were never properly upgraded.

I don't hate it. But it is disappointing. The graphics are ugly, too much blurring and pixels everywhere. The inconsistent art style of characters is weird too. Plus I'm sick of JRPGs having terrible starts. Cutscene, walk two feet, tutorial, walk a foot, tutorial, cutscene, tutorial, talk talk talk, wander, talk to trigger mission, talk... Fuck just let me play. It's never been fun to have that much useless exposition starting a game.

It got ok once it let me play finally. Then it had a 20+ minute cutscene showing me how awesome a blade is only to have every fight after take 2 minutes when I'm just smacking around crabs and shit. I just blew up a fucking ship, why can't I swat flies?

It's a mess and the cringe elements everywhere aren't helping. Stop showing me a sword's tits. Stop putting awful small creatures that can't speak a language or screech like autistic 8 year olds. This genre will never get back to greatness if every game keeps shitting the bed.

That sucks but the reason mine is delayed till sunday is because the driver is a cunt, he didn't bother knocking the door and when he rung my phone all I was greeted with was silence. I'm not sure how I feel about the first big area having a good spread of levels. It's like sure, that's nice. But also fuck I want to grind like mad and reach everywhere because it's only like 7 levels higher.

The battles take a while, but they're a lot more engaging. I looked forward to battles in this game a lot more than I did in XCX

Sometimes there just needs to be trash mobs that you can plow through, especially if it plays like an MMO. Not every fight has to feel like a boss fight, it just reeks of filler

I mean it depends on what you engage. Even from the somewhat start(plains) if you go for the smaller mobs same level or lower level the battle takes less than 20 seconds. If you go for something thats higher level than you, then obviously its gonna take longer.

Why not both? Change of pace. It would be like if every enemy in BotW took several minutes. Suddenly it's not a light ARPG anymore. Suddenly it's Souls. I mean, you can break everything in a game down to filler I guess. I just think slow paced games are particularly bad at it.

I never played any Xenoblade and even for me the artstyle is off-putting because there are already so many shit games with big as heck eyes and animation.
And then there are those anime tropes that weren't used so many times already.
