The "sexualization" in Automata is so fucking mild. The game never calls attention to it, it begins and ends at 2B's model. It's the biggest non-complaint I've ever seen.

It had fun side quests that tie into the game thematically and even foreshadow major events. Also most of them give worthwhile rewards, like unlocking vendors or giving stuff to upgrade your weapons.

FFXV's side quests might have been fun if the core combat didn't feel awful.

This. I was really glad the grindy shit from first Nier was fixed and you got basically everything you needed for upgrades from side quests or shops.

I suppose, but it's still barely there like user said. It's acknowledged, but it's not blatantly shoved in your face. The extent of any sexualisation legitimately does end at 2B's model, unless there's some hot spring side quests hidden among the ones I'm still working through.

You could have named a myriad of actual problems with the game. The lackluster first two routes, the relative ease of gameplay, the small world map and abruptness of the route A/B ending when it feels like more was meant to be there, lack of boss variety, etc. but instead you go after the side quests, which actually felt like the MOST polished part of the game until the later stages.
Compared to the first Nier game where you'd run through the same areas over and over again looking for drops to complete a side quest just so that you'd get a few lines of interesting character dialogue to flesh out the world. now almost every side quest feels like you're actually doing something worthwhile. Either for an unlock at the end or lengthy character interactions/ world building. Until route C the side quests were the best part of automata

I really liked it though, despite the fetch quests getting annoying once you chew through a bunch of them (and fuck whoever made that retarded quest where you run across the entire desert with the scanner pod hoping to find some artifacts)
The fun combat and brilliant narrative, sound design and visuals make up for it though. 9S' character progression especially was really stuck in my head for weeks, I love him so much

I don't understand how this is a bad thing. Automata's map was actually one of my favorite parts, its compact, effective and its void of padding like "open world" games.

The only thing that makes sense to be there is Odyssey. Everything else you put up there is even more overrated than Automata.

If I remember correctly, 9S sees this 2B transform into a glitchy virus but when he lands the killing blow the scene in the pic shows where he stabs 2B, not the virus
Perhaps he does want to kill her because he realizes the good memories of her aren't meant to be and that he'll eventually have to kill her before she kills him
But I'm too dumb to explain it. I just believe there is a reason for that scene

Ummm excuse me??? Yes it's not fun to play, but have you tried playing it 4 times in a row? What's that, still not fun? Well you just don't get it, you clearly haven't played each of the horrible prequels 10 times, then this new one would feel amazing on your 15th NG+. If you haven't invested at least 300 hours into a bunch of games that are not fun at all, you have no right to complain frankly

Yeah, Automata has some item collection, but apart from the one desert scanning quest there's nothing that's as weighed down with hours of grinding like the first Nier's junk heap.

I like the first Nier, but there was a lot of RNG frustration if you were a completionist.

I hope the sequel when/if it happens has more challenging combat. It felt really fucking good to play, but you didn't actually have to do anything other than mindlessly press either light attack or dodge. It's a real shame that there was such a variety of really cool looking combos that weren't actually that great outside of very specific situations.

It also plays well on the setting, they look and act like humans but not quite, they look perfect, like they were made in a fabric. The revealing clothes and bandana make you remember it, thats something is off. Imagine 2B and 9S in shitty rebel rags, the feeling would had been entirely different.
