switch games typically run better in handheld mode. All docked mode does is switch output to 1080p, handheld mode is capped at 720p. There's no 'high performance' mode from being connected to the dock.

Are anime visuals so hard to replicate? So far Cyberconnect 2 and ArkSys seem to be the only ones that I know off who pulled off anime graphics well, without it looking kinda funky, specially when the games have detailed realistically shaded envoriments, and cell shaded, anime style characters models.

That Little Witch Academia looks to be on it's way to look as good as Naruto and Guilty Gear though, whoever the developers are.

There's gdc talk on how Guilty Gear works, and it's very time consuming, involving custom models for several different frames of animation.
It's load of work just to get that effect right.

The game has variable resolution and the framerate dips below 30 constantly. The lvl 3 and 4 A-button attacks drop the resolution down to 480p while docked. I shudder to think of how the game will chug in handheld mode.

I know ArcSys goes the extra mile to ensure the game looks as anime as it possibly can, but shit like Naruto doesn't have that, and CyberConnect 2 still makes it look very anime, just not as good a ArcSys games.

The dock is literally a piece of plastic with a charging cable on it. Someone who dissected it discovered that it just has a really rudimentary charging circuit on it and an HDMI repeater.

Bullshit. The GPU runs at 768MHz when docked, but only 307.2MHz or 384MHz (the developer can choose) in handheld mode. Many games run at higher resolutions and framerates when docked as a result.

guilty gear xrd revelator ps3 is chained down to a 10 year console cpu, gpu, with 512mb ram. and it's one of the most beatiful looking stylized games ever made, the animation really are just candy for the human eye to delight on. every frame and lighting seems custom tooled by the rigger and shaders, you can see the man hours and effort put into guilty gear rev, completely demolishes street fighter 5 and marvel infinite visuals. I still can't believe it runs on ps3.
