Alright then champ, what's your special snowflake idea for an archer class
Magic Archer dragon's dogma was pretty sick.
>rogue class
>the stealth mechanics are shit so you just end up playing as a weaker Warrior
This.
Genuinely curious about what you would like to see for something that's just "Archer".
Trick shots like the ones done by Lars Andersen wouldn't even make sense in most video game.
>game has an archer class
>one of their skills is transforming the stage into a desert wasteland full of swords, and using the swords as arrows
Man, Tales of Symphonia was great
>game has archer class
>archer class has arrow rain
>game decides to take out arrow rain
>game reimplements arrow rain but it fucking sucks
Divinity Original Sin?
>game has magic system
>powers are all elemental
name 935 games that do this
>game has a bard class
>enemies fucking explode from your rad tunes
Fate/Stay Night?
you can you up no can no bb
RICOCHET SHOT
STEALTH ARROW (like a normal arrow but sneakier)
CHARGED SHOT
HEALING SHOT (basically a potion on an arrow)
HEAVY ARROW (instead of an arrow head, it's a wad of heavy, sticky goo that slows whatever it hits)
>game has a bard class
>it's also the archer class
>you get to sing while using ARROW RAIN
>heavy weapon class of any kind
>large overhead smash with shockwave
>charge mechanic of some kind
>large sweeping swing attack
>may or may not drag the weapon on the ground like it's FF7
>fighter class

>LESS ACCURATE BUT MORE POWERFUL ATTACK
>SWEEP THAT HITS EVERYONE FOR LESS DAMAGE

>want to arrow shit to death
>lol nah you gotta sing now dude
>character uses a rapier
>stereotypical romantic who throws a rose after his cool stab attack
Let my arrows be the percussion!
>STEALTH ARROW (like a normal arrow but sneakier)
Why does this have to be an ability instead of just using whatever is the game's sneak/invisibility mode and then shooting with any of the arrow types/skills from there?
But they're all Lloyd's love interests. I mean, it's not like Genis ever stood a chance.

>accidentally dual wield tri shot bows
>multiclass into ranger
>now i am a ranger/ranger
>accidentally dual wield dual wield tri shot bows
What exactly makes black flag good and not just another ac game?
Because acher is a shit class, make it a ranger or hunter or whatever
Imagine a class that only used one type of sword, call it swordman and try to invent skills that have nothing to do with swords
>Crippling shot
>Maiming shot
>Precision shot (higher damage)
>Fire arrow
>Explosive arrow
>Pinning arrow
>Charged shot
>Bull's eye (stupidly high damage)
>Aim weakness (ignores damage reduction)
>Aim artery (bleed /dot)
I don't like it. Try again.
But they have literally no cooldown. One guy can stunlock a enemy non stop as long as you have the right arrows.
What the fuck kind of situation would possibly require a fucking NUCLEAR WARHEAD arrow?
>HEALING SHOT (basically a potion on an arrow)
>MMO has archer class
>its advance class is a fucking bard
Worst offense I've seen to archery yet.
RUBBER BAND HOOKED BOUNCY ARROW (it comes back to you and you can fire it again)
>game has a necromancer bard class

The piratey stuff is awesome, I hadn't had that kind of swashbuckling fun since Sid Meir's Pirates, but then you have to stop being a pirate to do bland assassin shit.
a mind controlling starfish alien from space duh

Green Arrow fighting Starro by himself with the rest of the Justice League already dead
>mage class
>only available elements are fire, water and lightning
>Game has an archer class
>90% of players are playing it
This is why I resent archers in literally any RPG. It's always the go to class for the majority of people and that really annoys me, like the game might give you several classes to pick from but EVERYONE has to go for archer. I've played archer classes before, usually never cared for them.I use to think people played archer because it's a safe class with lots of damage, or because it takes zero skill or attention to play.
I'm convinced most people just wanted to play a class where they didn't have to do anything and still deal lots of damage. Archer usually has fucking high DPS in most games, which is also another reason I hate them. Developers give the most boring and brain-dead class the highest DPS in the game.
it's a two issue arc

>its not about assassins except when it is about assassins and thank god there's a lot of good pirate missions
Anyway too bad its an AC game, or at least we could've gotten a propper rpg sequel out of it
>archer class lets you set yourself on fire
It's just a safe first class when trying a new game, mages are always more complicated and melee classes can usually get royally screwed over if you don't know what you're doing.
A good example of that would be hunters in Wow during TBC. They could literally bind a steadyshot macro to mousewheel and afk the whole fight. At least in vanilla there was a lot of nuance in weaving aimed shots to the timing of your auto shot timers.
>game has all powerful arrow that one-hit kills everything

Incidentally, archer is best class bordering on broken because of all the options it gets, you can solo the whole turn based squad game as an archer protagonist easily just by constantly shooting everybody and their mom's legs.
it's issue 64-65
What game was that? I can't remember the name
Dragon's Dogma
I hope you're talking about Tactics Advance because in the original Tactics archer is some worthless ass shit. Actually it has bad stats in Tactics advance too but the abilities are busted.
Disgsea
I liked using FFT archers just to teach other melee classes charge attacks. Wasn't the best but I enjoyed it as a kid
>Aim: Leg
>Dragon Nest

He/she dual wheels bows and pulls the bowstrings with his/her mouth.
SEXTUPLE SHOT
BLINDING SHOT (both arrows hit both eye sockets)
DRILL SHOT (both arrows spiral together after being fired until it forms a drill)
DOUBLE BOW BASH

Didn't her kicks do extra damage if the enemy you kicked hit a solid object when it was flying?

Bless divinity 2
I'd be content with that, next to no RPGs have viable unarmed builds, or unarmed at all.

NO
Team fortress?
Penetrating shot (less damage due to going through targets cleanly but can hit targets behind them)
Sandbag-tipped arrow (knocks out target, but doesn't kill them)
Hooked arrow (can be used as a hookshot to climb up walls or trees to acquire height advantage)
Lodging shot (kind of like poison, but effects are cured by REMOVAL of the arrow. Removal does damage that's double that of leaving it in per turn. Also a high chance of crippling a limb).
Smithing (can use metal from old armor or weapons to use for arrowheads. Alternatively, can use excess arrowheads to make armor and weapons. The latter costs more materials do perform than the former, such that one armor could be used to produce 25 arrowheads but you would need 40 of the same arrowheads to recreate that same armor)
Metal-rodded arrows (Arrows with a metal shaft. Can be used to scale walls they burrow into. Unlike the hookshot arrow, it's more practical for your party members to use. Can also be headed up and used offensively. Piss poor distance and high strength requirement for practical use)
Blind (Arrow breaks on collision and releases an eye irritant from inside a hollowed shaft. Can also be used to contain poisonous or flammable mixtures)

What are some games that let you be a Seer? While not one technically the only one I can think of is Xenoblade with Shulk.
