Have you ever been to a LAN party? What was it like?
Have you ever been to a LAN party? What was it like?
Yup, many.
Great fun of course.
Man I bet his neck hurts
Legit the guy taped up top is a fucking trooper.
It was just 8 man Halo, had to run the cable down one bedroom window to the garage. Pretty fun experience.
only one for starcraft when i was young, with my pastor and his family of all things
i sucked (and still suck) but it was fun
Went to quakecon for several years until bethesda took over and devoured it's soul and left it as a by the numbers husk. Been doing dreamhack austin for two years now (since it started), can't wait to go back next year, shits so cash.
>all the energy drinks
>all the friends
>all the gaming
Plan on bringing kingdom death, do some sort of crazy long session.
We did this every thanksgiving instead of giving a shit about parents and family.
We had a bunch of those flimsy foldout card tables set around, probably about a dozen computers all trying to find outlets, extension cords, at least once a night someone would trip the breaker and everybody's machines get shut off except for mine because i'd run an extension cord to another room.
People tripping over ethernet cables strung out everywhere, some yelling, lots of laughing, debating which game to play (Always went back to Modern Warfare as the default "nobody wants to install something else")
Good times. I haven't seen them in about 5 years.
Do one every couple of months with my friends. Usually just turns into watching them take bong rips, kind of depressing.
Find non-degenerate friends
>tfw same situation
It's pretty sad, I've finished Uni and they've all dropped out. And they're still just playing the same dota 2 for 7 years, some niggas just can't grow up.
Still do nowadays with friends. Usually 5v5 customs in LoL, Halo3, Phantasy Star Online, and StarCraft.
CS 1.6 and AvP2 with multiple teams in different rooms of a basement were fantastic. I miss these days but they will remain engraved in my memory. I think that something about taking breaks in between games sharing a cig with the friends you play with cannot be emulated with online play but that may just be a biased old man nostalgic thought.
Worked at a store that doubled up as an internet cafe. There'd be regular lock-ins where we'd play LAN Medal of Honor Allied Assault or C&C Generals all night.
I went to a LAN party when I was at a card game convention as a kid once. I kept team killing in Battlefield 1942 by placing mines under our team's Jeep's, so I got sentenced to "jail" for 5 minutes by the guy cosplaying as a Klingon who was running the event. Here's the arrest warrant.
radical stuff
I host a monthly one. I turned my garage into a LAN center/PC workshop, we have a ton of fun and get drunk.
fucking cool, man
kek
no but we would play cs 1.6 in my computer engineering class every now and then
I've been to many big and small, pic related.
Have an annual LAN party over every Christmas for a few days. Games, Booze, Food, Friends, Great fun
they are a blast, man. miss those days
Sup Forums should host one in major cities around the world
Yeah, end of freshman year of highschool.
I took piano class as an elective because I was a fucking faggot, all of the pianos were keyboards that had to be connected to computers for some reason. On the last day of school nobody was doing any learning or anything so somebody brought halo on a flash drive and we all (only four or five students in the class) did a little lan, keeping quiet because having a gun on screen would probably get you the paddle or something. We were all having a fun time, even some adjacent classrooms were joining in, at one point the teacher went to the computer at the back corner of the classroom and secretly got on the game, he kicked all our asses.
Pretty comfy memory tßh
pic related the teacher liked skyrim and was a manlett
Naw but i remember moving my cousin into a college house rental and went in the basement and they were all playing warcrsft like 5 - 8 of em with shit set up looked so much fun.
OH!
>i did play LAN Halo 2 at my cousins. Just he was in another room and i was in a room was pretty neat.
What the fuck is wrong with you
He got a bonus chromosome or something. Don't be mean he found his way to Sup Forums, same as you.
>LAN
>party
pick one, faggot
I ended up in an orgy at the last LAN party I went to.
if you weren't at a LAN party from 1995 to 2005, you fucking will never EVER get to have that level of sheer FUN that we had.
i can't possibly describe playing Quake through shit tier LAN and yelling and screaming at 11PM, waking the neighbors and shit in 1996.
i feel so fucking bad for this era, especially kids. you will never get to have that level of fun and i weep and also laugh at your misfortunes.
enjoy your lootbox and always online shit.
you can't LAN 99% of shit these days, if shit like battle.net or steam is down, you can't even play multiplayer for most games.
shit, BL1 or 2 was one of the last PC games i can remember that has a fucking LAN option in the main menu.
man, i remember ye olde quakecons
shit was huge as fuck, but such a cool fucking thing to play Q2 with dudes you met online in person.
there are keynotes of that shit on youtube from Carmack and shit, go take a watch.
i had people in my college that we LAN's with, our biggest group had enough people for a fucking 64/64 BF2 run. we used two empty rooms and it was sheer madness.
other than that, every weekend, at least 20-30 of us would stay on campus and play FEAR, Halo, Cod4, Postal 2, Q3 and UT99. we tried to play some RTS, but those always were about 2-3 that wanted to play. we had our group of fighters too, mostly smash, but i always brought my dreamcast with like every fighter on the damn thing and even then, no one wanted to ever play Last Blade 2.
i miss those days
its been fucking 8 years now since college...
How did they even get him up there? Did they hold him while he was taped or what?
I'm too autistic to do something like that.
Several, with my friends. It's great fun. All those WC3 custom maps
Like a Monty Python skit
>Doing ghosts, shotguns, and bombs on a Halo CE Lan with friends
>we find a glitch
>gather to observe, try to recreate the results
>somebody throws a grenade
>game mode has no shields
>WHO THREW THAT GRENADE?
>it was in the overshield room on Chiron TL34
>we all scramble to get away
>fuckhuge explosion radius on Halo CE grenades kills us all
>we still have no idea who tossed the grenade.
>no shields
God, I'm so jealous. I wish I had friends.
