All style no substance: The video game

Everyone calls Xenoblade 1 overrated on the Wii but nah this shit is truly the game that doesn't deserve it's praise.

Agreed, it's a bad overrated game.

It's fun

It is okay to be wrong. Just try not to be so vocal about it next time.

Nobody calls Xenoblade overrated

Just play red steel 2 instead

I do

>Nobody calls Xenoblade overrated
On release they did. It was praised as the best JRPG in several years back then.

I'll agree to that but the style sure as fuck is stylish. The raw gameplay mechanics are merely competent but the game has no qualms about operating on a "rule of cool" level and if you're gonna go that route then not giving a fuck is the way to do it.

The combat is easier than dynasty warriors games. Boring button masher game.

What's really 'substance' in entertainment? You should say gameplay mechanics or something because that's what you're really talking about. Visuals can obviously be important for the overall impression of a game it's not like we're talking about a medicine with a flashy box or something.

NMH1 is kind of overrated because of forced motion controls and open world cash grinding but that just means you should try 2.

Also, Travis should be in Smash. Not that soy boy Shulk.

1 has more memorable bosses, though. 2 absolutely has better pacing and refined gameplay but it doesn't hit the highs of 1's personality. And let's be real here, what is a Suda game if not defined by its personality quirks?

t. got stuck at Shinobu

Travis would be censored as hell, but he would be fun to play as. I don't know whether I would want his final smash to be glastonberry or summoning the bizarre jelly girls

There IS substance though.
However any attempt to talk about just gets met with "LOL! 2DEEP BULLSHIT"

>get through normal alright
>try spicy
>get to shinobu
>she wrecks my shit

Travis would be 4th-wall breaking as hell in Smash. He'd probably self-censor himself as a joke.

People just have shit taste user, it's a very charming, well written game. It's gameplay is god tier relative to all the other shit on the same console. Grinding for money is literally the only fault in NMH and even then I forgive it because of its thematic relevance. In other words this is a shit thread.

>It's gameplay is god tier relative to all the other shit on the same console

Whoa there, I like NMH as much as the next guy but saying it plays better than games like Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel 2, or Sin & Punishment 2 is going a bit far I'd say.

Now that's a straight up lie. I can tell you either haven't played the game or you haven't fought Shinobu yet.

Barring the obvious exceptions user, the majority of the Wii's lineup was shit, that majority is what I was referring to, I'm not a mad man

STRAWBERRY ON THE SHORTCAKE

>It is gameplay is
Go back to school.

This.
I can't think of a single other game that combines seemless swordplay and wrestling in the same playable character.

Well I mean it's praised as an all-style low-substance game. I'd say that's a very appropriate rating for it.

>Xenoblade
>Style
Did you somehow mistaken that game for persona?
Xenoblade is literally the antistyle franchise, as style is the least they care about.

...

Can you explain the thought process behind your post?
I don't get why nerds on the internet are STILL grammar posting. It's 2017 you had more than enough time to get over it.

>censored
Just don't have him swear. He can still be an asshole. A massive asshole, but he needs both his swordplay and wrestling. The final smash needs to be something simple though like says, the slots results is the best option. Cherry/"This is the end!" is probably the most "fair" by simply slowing everyone else down, if only in a circular range like the negative zone.
