too hard for casuals
it doesn't have a roster where 90% of units are overpowered
Other than instant enemy reinforcements that attack on the same turn it's no better or worse than any other old fire emblem. Most units suck, but the secret shop lets you buy as many stat ups as you can afford so it evens out.
Japan only
It's nowhere near as good as the games that came before for it and the game after it. Saying that however it's not the worst in the series either it's just okay
>Boring
>Same-turn reinforcements
>Abysmal hit-rates, on top of 30 avoid throne bonuses make bosses a huge pain in the ass
>Practically no story until the last two chapters
>To get the true end, you need to meet a bunch of arbitrary requirements that aren't explained in-game (ex. clear chapters 4, 11, 13, 17, and 21 within 20 turns; recruit x and x units and keep them alive until chapter x, etc.)
>You have to collect all the legendary weapons to get the true end, but if you use any of them enough that it breaks, you're fucked
That's all I can remember off the top of my head. Very boring overall
ambush spawns usually felt more annoying than well implemented.
Instead it has a roster where 90% of the units are shit.
Can't get true end without a guide
It's impossible. There's not even a single flaw. Its innovations were monumental enough to stay with the series forever, and it completely eclipses its successor.
Your axe unit will never hit anything.
>Abysmal hit-rates
Isn't it the same hit-rates that the japanese version of every game has? It's the western versions that made the hit-rates way better than shown by rolling 2d50 instead of 1d100.
No
I don't like how terrible traditional tanking is in favor of myrmidons, personally. I really really hate relying on luck, even when it's grotesquely in my favor.
1: RNG is not dependent on region
2: FE6 just has worse base hit rates, no RNG necessary
Besides same turn reinforcements and the shittiest lord, there's not much WRONG with it. But it's not particularly good in any sense either. Just sort of painfully average.
>FE6 just has worse base hit rates, no RNG necessary
"FE6" doesn't have hit rates. To be precise, FE6 weapons have hit rates about 5 hit rating lower on average than FE7 hit rates. What makes FE6 feel like it "has" worse hit rates is its enemy units actually have stats.
It doesn't have any forced waifus or self-inserts and the game isn't bogged down in tutorials, so Sup Forums hates it.
Remember folks, challenge = bad!
Most units are shit, including the fucking mc.
>To be precise, FE6 weapons have hit rates about 5 hit rating lower on average than FE7 hit rates.
Thanks for agreeing with me you autistic fuck
FE6 uses true hit. But the axes have awful hit%.
His ancestors were better characters in every way
I bet your mom and her brother were real proud when they made you, weren't they?
That's unfair, the first chapter of FE7 is really chapter 12. It'd be fairer to compare FE6's tutorial to Lyn's first map.
WANNA BET, PRETTY BOY?
True Hit
Late Promotion for Roy
Merlinus as a unit in general. I would have preferred it that Roy could have access to the convoy.
One cool thing though, at 5 minutes and 9 seconds, you'll hear the influence to In The Name Of Bern in this song. youtube.com
FE6's tutorial isn't forced on you.
It's not comparing stages with similar difficulty, it's comparing the first stage the game makes you play. FE7 mandates that you play through 11 chapters of nonsense.
Funny, I didn't have to. I just linked FE6 to FE7 and it let me start with Eliwood.
Light magic was eventually phased out.
WHY
Aw, damn, a quarter of your roster started off crippled. That's a shame. Should have sat through 11 chapters of inane bullshit, now we have to weaken you.
Same turn reinforcements
Most of the units in the game suck
Roy doesn't promote until like the last 5 chapters of the game
What's the best way to play the first game between FE1, FE3, and FE11?
god damn you're retarded, aren't you?
It has the only non old ugly girl in all the franchise.
FE3. Then play Book 2. The DS remakes are both shit, reclassing (among other bullshit) ruins them.
FE6 Cons:
>Reinforcements can show up and act immediately, potentially killing allies
>Gaiden maps need to be done to see the real ending
>Recruitment can be cryptic
>Hard mode boost affects only some allies, making it less about using favorites
>Communication mode ends up being severely imbalanced
>Enemies and allies have AI that can be bad or weird at times
>Light and dark magic are handled poorly
>Roy promotes very late - he has good stats and growths but is still just dead weight on hard mode
>Fae can only attack 30 times, and Hammerne won't restore her stone
>Some advanced weapons can't be obtained
>Final boss is very weak
>Merlinus is hard to use
>Autosave makes resetting more severe
>Tutorial is great, but hidden in Extras
Excuse me?
you read me
Why are you being so vicious? Why are you doing this?
because you can't fucking count
>innovations
Name literally 1
The game isn't that challenging unless you do a challenge run like 0% growths or ranked. If it wasn't for same turn reinforcement fucks no one would overrate how hard it is.
Support Conversations.
Okay, fine, goddamn. It's not a quarter, it's 32.5% of your roster. Happy?
Introduced in 4 :)
literally no
Have you done a 0% growths run? I'm thinking of trying one if I manage to beat FE7.
Those were conversations. FE4 had a love system, not a support system. That vanished between 3 and 5.
>counting Wallace and Ninian
Support system
Anima magic
Hard mode
Trial maps
Convoy
Multiplayer
R-button tooltips
Optional tutorial
There are maybe 5 characters I like at all in Roy's game that are playable.
Didn't count Ninian, but I'll deduct two anyways. 27.5%. Over a quarter.
Stop being mean to me.
FE6 has one of the biggest rosters of any FE, though.
I am of the opinion that Lillina and Lugh are both good characters and it is worth training one in hard mode as they can target enemies low res. What do you guys think of the viability of these characters?
Lilina is fucking trash and not benching her immediately was the biggest mistake in my last run
Lugh and Raigh are great though
>FE6 has one of the biggest rosters of any FE, though.
Doesn't really change most characters being garbage.
>FE6 has one of the biggest rosters of any FE, though.
Doubtful. 8, 10, 12, 13, and 14 probably have bigger.
SAME TURN ENEMY REINFORCEMENTS
WHAT THE FUCK WHO EVEN APPROVED THIS
No I never have. I only did ranked runs. I seen 0% LTC runs though and those look quite difficult.
8's roster is fucking tiny, I think it's the smallest of any game aside from 2.
10, 12, and 14, yes.
8 and 13, no.
Seems FE6 is in a solid 4th place.
Sacred Stones has 34 playable characters.
Binding Blade has 54 playable characters.
To be fair to Sacred Stones, I'm counting Merlinus as playable.
What the fuck? It feels much larger than that.
Branching promotions made it feel bigger because they add more replayability, so while Ross might be your Berserker one playthrough he could be a Hero in the next. Or a Warrior, because Hero Ross is horrible.
>innovations
every change from FE5 was either a trivial balance change or a regression
Yeah wtf stamina was so good
FE died after Kaga left
While I personally prefer the simple innate supports of FE3, I think most people like the multi-elemental supports introduced in fe6.
There is no variety in the level objectives, they're all just seize maps.
fpbp
Stamina was really an irrelevant factor anyway since Stamina Potions were cheap enough and readily available. You're almost never buying weapons rather than jumping niggas and taking what they have, so money is irrelevant, and you might as well buy Stamina potions with the money you're not spending.
Delete this!
Lilina fucks bandits
I don't understand what they were thinking with this
>making you sit characters next to each other long enough to have an atmosphere-breaking wacky conversation before you can get support bonuses isnt shit game design
Convo support was a fucking garbage mechanic until Awakening desu
Stamina, like dismounting, should have been rebalanced instead of removed entirely.
Just like her mother.
Do you mean just from that game or the series as a whole? Well,
>incredibly slow gameplay, moving characters through terrain is a chore, so you're spending a good 3/4 turns just lugging everyone to a spot to fight
>forced to use Lord to capture buildings, if, god forbid, you don't like using them, you need to spend 6 turns moving them from the starting position to the cap point
>game throws more units at you than you know what to do with, resulting in many, many utterly forgettable and unwanted throwaway characters to the point where they may as well have been faceless mooks
>also gives you utterly useless units in every regard
>RNG level ups, literally what the fuck were they thinking with this
>gives new meaning to generic plotline
>weapon degradation is a mechanic as if that adds difficulty and doesn't just make things tedious for the sake of being tedious
>unit permadeath encourages turtling and playing extremely safe (though there are so many useless units I don't mind playing reckless and letting them die)
>classes who can only heal or buff and do nothing else
>lol if the mc dies game over
I can go on honestly, the series seems to refuse to innovate so these problems are found in both older and newer games.
My friends memed me into playing Awakening, and Sup Forums memed me into playing FE 6/7/8, and now I can say with honesty that this is the worst fucking SRPG series out there, holy shit.
FE6 is basically a slightly more complex version of FE1. After Kaga left, they decided that they should go back to basics. It's why so many characters are blatant copies of FE1 characters, even moreso than other FE games.
...
Lilina is a liability in hard mode. Lugh can be alright for the sake of having a magic user, but he can easily get fucked over on growths and has mediocre bases.
How's 6 with the numbers patch
Play Conquest.
Lilina always turns out good for me, although I have to give her a speed boost usually.
I think you mean
Lilina gets blacked
I hope the eventual remake fixes the reinforcements
Hell no, I've heard how much of a shitshow that game is.
Or you could just git gud
The only thing that's objectively bad about it is the story. Everything else about it is more different than it is bad.
I hate that theives don't fucking promote just because "muh FE1".
FE3 did it better
Depends on the one you get.
I would argue weapon balance is very enemy-favored and the shitty my castle currencies are also weak points, but the former is subjective and arena can partially trivialize the latter
The game is more inline with other SRPG's. Its also has lots more depth and customisation and even a casual like you can play on casual mode.
Caeda is not for sexual! Unless you are Marth of course.
You can't really "git gud" against Rutger teleporting into the map and killing a unit the second he spawns
FE might actually be the most casual SRPG on the market though, not that there are many others.
I find this sentiment pretty hilarious, considering the nips have the exact opposite opinion.
*spawns in front of you*
Sure you can. You have Bors.
>game tells you enemies are about to appear in a certain area
>it's unfair when enemies appear in that area and attack you
I bet you hate chapter 14, too.
Not really. I fell for the final fantasy tactics, Tactics Ogre, and disgaea meme so I know about easy games. I mean there are certainly harder titles out there like X-com and Advance wars but one of those are dead.
Advance Wars is not an RPG
Not that guy but please defend this instance of surprise reinforcements:
