Are you fucking serious? Half of this shit didn't even get playtested. Powerhouse and Zealot were okay, everything else was awful. Even Powerhouse is a stretch because of how its spawns are set up.

CoD4 had stolen some of Halo 3's thunder and by the time Reach came out CoD had supplanted Halo as the de facto console FPS. Do you think it's just a coincidence that Reach, much to it's detriment, had it's gameplay tweaked to be more like CoD?

the lead designer of reach lamented not focusing on better maps instead of reusing singleplayer locations.
also first halo game to have unskippable first person "cutscenes" that interrupt gameplay. every other halo has cutscene time and gameplay time be separate things and lets you skip all the cutscenes.
Reusing the singleplayer locations isn't even the issue. Zealot and Countdown are both singleplayer maps, and they're both perfectly playable in their MLG iterations.
The issue is that somewhere down the line Bungie forgot how to designs spawns, they forgot how to place weapons, and they forgot how to make their maps flow. You slap that on top of forge world maps an intern made in his
spare time and you get the worst maps in the entire franchise.

not really. you couldn't headshot elites from behind in swat if you were a little bit below them or you had to drag on even plane
in halo 3 they had the exact same hitbox as spartans so you had to shoot above their heads to get a headshot. amazingly stupid decision.
