Why was there no Izuna 3 on 3DS?
...
sell me on this game I tried it once but got kinda bored and dropped it at the tutorial, whats so good about it.
Cause nearly no one bought the first two.
This one was a nice time sink.
a shit game? got t.
i loved this one, too bad the second one didnt follow the story
Rune Factory stopped getting made, so now you have to play this instead
ok good enough I love Rune Factory so ill try to power through it.
Yeah, if only we got to see a grown up Cleru/Pratty.
Nah that would be MS Saga. It's shit but customizing mobile suits is always a good time.
Come on the game is not a standard RPG and that is enough reason to play it, is enjoyable to do stuff like cutting trees or go fishing rather than just fight monsters.
There is a ton of things to do so you can sink thousands of hours in it if you want or just rush and finish it quickly, but that is boring.
I bought both of them and I even bought that shitty japan-only fighting game.
I'm a bit ashamed but I spent an insane amount of hours on Izuna 2. I deleted my first save for reasons after getting halfway through the game. Then on my restart I spend hundreds of hours grinding all characters to max levels. It's amusing knowing I put so many hours into a game no one else played.
Definitely had some flaws, but it had a cool premise that was actually executed pretty well, some great character designs, and a godly OST
Its not that its disliked, its just never mentioned.
The art style, characters, and story are all great.
I'm pissed that all the remake really does is ruin the art. If the game had better graphics/spritework and more than like 15 songs it could easily be one of the best modern JRPGs.
Atleast the songs that are there are good, especially the battle tracks.

This shit wasn't really even obscure, everyone I know who has a 3DS played it
Who thought the new art style was a good idea?
The trilogy is my favorite in the GBA, 2 is specially good.
Also, Bow (3 only) >>>>> spear > drill > axe > fist > sword.
I got like 10 hours into this on a flashcart and enjoyed it, but ended up losing my save.
The VA was literally painful, and I remember thinking the walking speed was too slow. Story was meh, but the graphics and music were indeed pretty great.
It's just a bit too short and all the good shit is crammed into the netherworld (Which isn;t worth it because the game isn't hard)
It's also pre-Disgaea NIS so the dialogue doesn't make me want to dig my eyes out with a spoon.
The voice acting was all over the place, but I honestly thought the MC got a little more bearable over the course of the game, I swear his motormouth calmed down
The story was actually pretty cool, the "worlds overwriting this one" concept was a cool idea and actually executed well, they set it up so you really see the impact when it happens, and outside of that part of it there's actually quite a bit of shit going on, all the events involving the Magedom in the desert come to mind
I unironically do not understand the hate for this game. It all just sounds like "not muh valkuri" non-arguments.
It had decent difficulty, branching story paths and concequences for taking the easy route. Integrating quick time events to different skills in order to execute them added another layer to the turn based tactics combat.
Is not about being obscure is about being underrated.
You make it about being obscure when you call it a 'hidden gem'
The dialogs were so fucking bad.
Oh and also I will say, my biggest issue with the game is that it (as per Suikoden tradition) has 108 party members to collect, but you need all of them to get the good ending, and many are permanently missable
If anyone plays it I'd actually recommend looking for a spoiler-free recruitment guide to make sure you don't miss any, because some of them make you do some stupid shit, like enter your castle from one direction on the map during a certain relatively short window in the story, or backtrack to an earlier town with one specific character with you
This game is great but what we really need is another game in the vein of the OG VP, still a cool spin-off though I enjoyed it.
Fuck if I know. Its not bad on its own, but the original art style is amazing and was always one of my favorite parts of the game. The new art just looks so much less unique.
All the remake does is change the UI (only objective improvement being a map), bastardize the art, add voice acting, and add another route.
Only thing that I care about is the map; new route could be interesting but I doubt it. I'll just stick with the original.
I never got quite far enough to see the payout in the story, so I could've been wrong. I kinda wanna pick it back up but I just have so many damn RPGs to play (Xenogears, Xenosaga, FFVI-VIII, Xenoblade 2, Breath of Fire IV...), most of which I'm currently in the middle of.
That reminds me though, what I've played of Breath of Fire IV is really fantastic. The graphics are beautiful for a PS1 game, the music is good, battle system is neat, and the story is interesting. Don't understand why nobody talks about these games much.
It had an issue with turtleing up being too easy of a strategy but it had 5 storylines and a pretty rough happiness system that made you fight to keep every character alive.
I never did get into the BoF series, they seem cool, but I remember trying BoFII for SNES, and the localization was so fucking bad that someone actually retranslated a German fan translation back into English to fix the horrible localization, and it was one of the grindiest JRPGs I've ever played
I should give them another shot sometime, I hear a lot of good things in particular about IV and its weird and dark story
The main problem I had, besides every activity being fucking braindead, is that not all professions progressed equally, and some got hard-gated by story content much faster than others. I guess the solution is to play through the story with a combat class as quickly as possible to unlock all of the content, but god damn is it uninteresting
It's rare you see someone who played Megaman X Command Mission. It's odd too because I thought it was great, if a bit linear.
>Sharkings
Yeah, fuck that shit.
Yeah, IV is actually my first one. I bought it on a whim after seeing how great the graphics were and was pleasantly surprised. I hear good things about III as well.
>Combat class
>Not just using your dagger
Honestly this is what I did, I pretty much exclusively played the archer job until I beat the game and unlocked the DLC, then I leveled up like woodcutting or something until I got so bored I just dropped the game
Shadowrun for snes. It's basically deus ex if it was made for the snes. It has (shitty) hacking, free stat point distribution, lots of dialogue and it's pretty non linear. The controls are a huge entry barrier but not too bad once you get used to it.
I'm literally playing it for the first time this week and am enjoying it a lot.
It came out after FFTA, which was already a huge downgrade compared to the original. This game used the same type of engine which looks bad, and even for a snes game is chaotic to look at.
The game is slow, and the tactics combat isn't anything special.
bof4 was a disappointment in my opinion because the dragon forms weren't combinable genes like in the 3rd game. The graphics were also less appealing. I havent' played it more than 6 hours though so I might be missing some info.
i remember that fighting ninetails almost made me break a tv back in high school
...
Project X zone, why? because it is filled with fanservice and sluts.
That game is just disgusting, I can't explain why but it really is disgusting.
By no means in my top 10, but good if you like Etrian Odyssey style games
BN series.
BN is not underrated.
Growlanser series
This, it was quite fun for me since you had to work carefully on digging and it's exciting to see what you'll get to use in battle.
What a shame that the 3DS game of this franchise is a tremendous piece of shit.
Septerra Core
I played this game as a kid and remember it really lacking in content
Remember spectrobes?
We should forget about that awful franchise.
I fucking loved that game. I was sad that Maya and the dude with the robot arms never boned.
I'm about 10 hours into BOF IV and I have mixed feelings so far. The art and music is pretty good, but the camera is atrociously bad, even for its time. The story is also very fucking slow, and the combat is mostly laughably easy and unsatisfying. I wouldn't say it's bad (certainly better than a lot of jrpgs that suffer from the same problems) but it's definitely flawed.
If only the Atelier series didnt go full big eye lesbian loli adventures
