Its because they are playing it safe and apealing to the status quo. Pyra is the official cover girl so shes won before its started but the story still goes through the motions. The MC needs to be denser than depleted uranium to keep things PG even if hes surrounded by gigantic tits.

A world of difference in how the audience receives it.
Its one thing that a guy is so dense that even when a girl goes out of her way to outright confess he still doesnt get it. And QUITE another when the guy understands the others feelings but rejects them for whatever reason.

One shows a lot more emotional maturity and makes for a richer (if more tense or complicated) relationship between the characters moving forward.

The other is just a cheapass way to maintain the status quo by making your MC an ass and leaves your viewers frustrated.

It's kind of a bizzare mix, You have lazy character writing, but amazing worldbuilding/philosophy writing. It's like Take knows how to write a good god complex, but not how to write a girl expressing her feelings.

Framerate during fights is the biggest issue for me at the moment. Sometimes it's fine, other times it feels like the game is playing in slow motion.

Yeah, it's a launch Switch. Haven't had any issues with other games, this is the first one where it's particularly noticeable.

The sooner you accept that this game's story is just pandering and juts have fun with the gameplay and enjoy the funny characters the better for you.
Its all about managing expectations on your end.

Granted there are ways to use cliches to make for a good time. Pic related is a good example of an anime story that takes a bunch of cliches and just has fun with them in cool ways. Things like the dense MC just makes the audience aware of the seams in the story.

You gotta manage your expectations but the story must also help you suspend your disbelief enough for you to have a good time.

How does the story stack up against 1 and X? What I've seen of the characters is putting me off but if the story's solid I'll give it a go.

One thing is the setting the story takes place and another thing the story itself.
So many times a good setting has been misused by a safe story.
And many times the story and interactions between characters can be of different quality than the overarching story.
Its very possible for diferent parts of the game to be made to appeal to different demographics, which can be to the detriment for some people like it is in this case.
Some people just see anime titties and go buy the game and enjoy the shitty cliches, others play it for the gameplay, others for the setting.

Xeno 2 is exactly the same amount of philophical pseudo science and religious conflict any Xeno game is. Primarily blade.


The story is about preserving the Titans and finding new land to move to because the titans are dying, so they go to the world tree, which they find out is actually a stratospheric tower built by humans that goes into space, where they had the Conduit (Zohar) kept away. Klaus goes rogue and activates it to create his own world which creates the dimension of Xenoblade,and gives brith to Zanza, Where as the real klaus only lost half his body and became the architect who built up the ruined earth to absolve his sins. Meanwhile the crew defeats the rogue computer program that thinks it's directive in destroying the world is absolute, parallell to the same time Shulk fights Zanza and wishes for a new world, merging the two worlds together into shulk's vision with the monado/aegis.

So the story actually ties into 1? Sweet.

From the Zanza battle. It's the reason he asks them to hurry with Malos, because if Malos succeeded in destroying the world, BEFORE shulk accepted the true monado, the recreation wouldn't happen. It was a battle for time on both sides, which is why when the tower falls, that "rift" they flew into was the collapse of the other world. It's the ideal world shulk invisioned, which had no mechonis or bionis, just flat lands and people and no gods.
