One time my friend had a server and accidentally left one of my friends as OP due to some earlier drama, so one night my friend gave us all creative and we did this

i can feel the intense lag from here

>door

Hole in the ground

probably a hole in the side of a mountain with a one block "door" and no bed

Fellow dorf

Like that but dirt, the top corners weren't cut out (it was just a box)and I placed 1 torch above the door, not that sides nonsense.

It was actually really cool, because back then the world gen was amazing

There was a large open plain that was next to a massive mountain, and in one corner of the mountain was a small cave that was about 2 tiles down and 5 tiles back. I built around the entrance and it basically made a Hobbit house with the mountain to its back where you could look out the windows and see nothing but plaints for miles.

and then, he banned all of us that had creative
...but he still didn't ban my friend
......who was still OP

..........so we did it again

It was a hole in the ground basically.

Played for like 15+ hours. Eventually got to the point where my house looked ok, but I had no desire to go further because there was nothing to really go towards beyond making a prettier house. Minecraft honestly ain't a bad game while you're in the preparation faze. Gathering iron and diamond is fun. But once you get it there just is nothing to do beyond building.

Good choice, hobbit holes are hella comfy.
>Secure while using minimal resources
>easy access to mines
>can work day and night without worrying about enemies

nice bombing and lava towers

Just a beautiful sight

Completed or no?
I tried to build a sandcastle. I died and didn't have a bed, then I couldn't find where I started building.
Then, I built a cobblestone fort.

I recently started a 1.0 version out of curiosity. And what the fuck, the world generation really is outrageously more interesting. You always see some crazy mountain/cave formation in the distance. What happened? Its so boring now

>not exclusively living in a hole in the ground for the entirety of the time you play Minecraft

Fuck, this makes me miss when Minecraft was just a good simple exploration and building game.
Now its just a mess.

I seriously hope you're not such a newfag that you mean release 1.0

...

P O T A T O K N I S H E S

I mean selectiing the first release from the launcher.

...

What mod is this?

>tfw remember building my first house right in a hill near a river
>tfw will never find a nice hill to build a house in and a river to fish in ever again
God I loved that house.

thermal foundation, thermal dynamics, thermal expansion for the pipes and machines on the right. immersive engineering for conveyor belts. chisel for metallic textures.

Thermal Foundation/Expansion/

Shit that makes the blocks show up on conveyor belts like that look so good but it lags the shit out of the game

>java

Castle of dirt. I had a ladder and some nice trees growing on top. I remember I would build big holes around the place, trap animals in there, and put glass over the pit and watch them.

This kinda hit me like a nostalgia truck. I first played when it was taking off here on Sup Forums. I honestly think that Sup Forums is, like, the progenitor of all things that become famous on the internet.

My first house was in the side of a mountain, but instead of just a human-sized hole (DRR DRR DRR) it was an entire front wall of wooden planks, and had a loft that lead to some chests and my bench. This was before beds were a thing, I'm pretty sure. Or maybe I just didn't know how to craft them.

For all the autism and shit it was surrounding it, Minecraft was pretty great.

That's... not at all the picture I meant to post, but have it anyway.

Unless you have "historical versions" setting on, then that would be Release 1.0

the last version of Good Minecraft (TM.) was pretty much Beta 1.7.3, although nowadays it doesn't have half of the actual frills and content added to the game, but for the most part it still has the great essence of old minecraft, and has pistons

I suggest if you've never played these old versions, you should
Perhaps also watch at least one of the great first minecraft playthroughs such as (foremostly) X's Adventures In Minecraft

It may just maybe show you a sight of Minecraft that you never otherwise know, basically a sight of when it was truly a good game

>Spawn in middle of desert
>Turn around
>Actually right there next to a village
>A few days in game later
>Go searching the wilderness for food and such
>A long way from spawn
>End up stumbling upon two more villages along the way
>Decide to stay in one
>May never find original village again

It's like the Roanoke colony.

I will try it. What is generally considered the best version for world generation?

Theres plenty of programs to generate maps from savefiles

>he uses doors
>he uses beds
>he eats mutton/chicken/beef
>he plays with structures on
>he doesn't use no-hunger mod

infdev

I think it was some kind of huge ass burrow, back when notch was on Sup Forums

Remember the legends of the far lands, where you would hit the "edge" of the map and allegedly the world would start forming in crazy, insane ways?

Tbh the generated buildings like villages and desert pyramids now are way too common
I was on a server with my brother lately and we literally just ran around stealing diamonds from blacksmiths and pyramids

infdev is very good, but really there are a lot of sundry world generation versions, some mods too, which are all very good
the things is, world generation just took a big departure from what it had been before after Beta 1.8 and mojang never really looked back, which is quite a shame

Ultimately I think the worst time for minecraft was between Release 1.0 - 1.8 (I think -- whenever they got rid of void fog was when it generally started getting better)

It wasn't alleged though, it happened
I teleported there a few times back in the days of Single Player Commands

is this infdev?

Man that was like 6 years ago. Very first night I remember digging a hole into a cliff side and just expand the hole at night until the monsters went away and making torches from the coal I mined during the day. Eventually I ended up building a three story house into the cliff side with the bottom level being underground and eventually linking into a large cave system, which opened up into an enormous hole at the ground level which I ended up making a glass floor above the cave so monsters wouldn't fall in and I'd have enough day lighting deep into the cave.

Yes I believe so

Check out the wiki as well for stuff on the old versions, it can be pretty cool
And bear in mind of course that it's all a lot different

>check that one let's player
>he's still walking there

>663rd episode
Jesus Christ

Yeah, I'm reminded in particular of this video. I thought this was the absolute coolest shit back then. I can't believe it's been 7 whole years.
youtube.com/watch?v=5bGm2-YpzXE

Well its a lot greener

made it in the side of a cave entrance/mountain in the first alpha builds post here and never played again. how do people even play it anymore? bought it through steam or windows store?

Goddamn I spent a ton of time on that thing. Had huge subterranean works without any sort of organization, was just a spaghetti mess with a giant hole in the middle, and it was awesome.

Holy fuck

the first time playing minecraft could be the most magical experience I've ever had in gaming.

This

I remember being so taken aback just by breaking and putting down dirt and tree blocks for the first time

My original original house back in the really early days was back when worlds were either Snow all the time or never. Like just before the Slimepocalypse patch.
>Dig a 2X1 hole in the side of a wide, long hill
>Dig out a 10X10 hole in the ceiling about 10 blocks in from my doorway
>Make a rectangle box room between the ceiling hole and doorway
>Add glass
>Begin quarrying down
>Can't remember much after that, made a new one when Slimepocalypse rolled around and ended up huddled in the darkness of a cave listening to the fapping of a thousand cuboid blobs overhead and beneath

shit cant handle all those entities
>mfw a guy playing with me left my mob spawner on and left to do shit
we came back to the worst lag ever, and a room full of wither skeletons

>Notch release a free version on Sup Forums
>First house is a two story, unfinished wood house
>get fucked by skeletons

You can make chicken bombs to crash a server with a hopper, a few pipes and a dispenser

Was Notch really ever on Sup Forums or is this a memish legend?

hownew.ru

He was definitely on Sup Forums and even had one of these messages that pop up on the login screen mention Sup Forums at one point

Yes, user. He still is too. He's mentioned Sup Forums once or twice on Twitter in recent times. He is a literal "successful Sup Forumsirgin."

One time I was playing on a modded server, and one friend decided to make a chicken coop where he periodically threw eggs at the wall so it ended up being full of dozens of chickens

Another friend got into blood magic and wanted shit to sacrifice so he rigged some shit up to scoop the eggs off the ground in the coop, teleport them into a hopper, and spit them out into a tiny 1x2 area, and just left it running like that

This resulted in hundreds of chickens occupying a single block, they formed a sort of quantum chicken that looked like a weird 360 degree monstrosity, and there were so many there that it caused the entire server to lag

it got so bad that I went back there and dropped a block of sand in to kill all the chickens, and when I did it a fucking tornado of feathers and raw chicken shot out all over the place and my inventory instantly filled up

Those were fun times

I like the edit so Im glad you goofed

I spawned on a beach. I built a small wood shack right in the side of a grassy hill nearby. I then started digging into the hill to expand my home, and after many hours of hard work and autism, I had terraformed that hill into a massive beachside castle with many rooms.

No matter how far I traveled, I always returned to the castle to expand it further. I had rooms full of storage chests, tons of furnaces, a greenhouse for crops, and decoration rooms like a bedroom and a game room. It got so big, I even put a railway system inside.

Man, I miss it.

that looks really comfy for some reason

I'd always just find the closest mountain, dig a tunnel into the side of it, wall off the entrance and wait out the night that way. I'd eventually expand it as I went if the mountain had anything in it in terms of minerals or led into a cave network. Threads like this always make we wanna boot the game back up but Mojang keeps resetting my fucking password.

When will Notch ever come back and start a spiritual sequel, but with features that is actually made of good ideas, not the shitshow that is current minecraft.

I just want the good old days come back.

Notch is too busy shitposting on twitter to ever make a game again

They can't come back user. He made his mark. Now you have to make yours or latch onto the next one.
The next one is already happening. One man and a few Anons helping him test and make animations is doing an entire fucking MMO similar in nature to Pokemon, but not quite.

Quite true. I don't think it'll ever happen.

He was making that 0x10c space game that looked like it was supposed to be a space minecraft but he cancelled that like 5+ years ago

>resetting your password
maybe you played with a modpack that used ichunUtil, that shit grabbed your account name and shared it, not your password though but thats probably enough for people to mess with your account

Source? I wanna learn more about the project.

Not the first one but the earlierst screenshot I have.
Someone spawned squids on it for some reason.

Is this the comfiest game of all time?

>this

You know the rules of muh secret club, user. But I'll give you a hint.
Every weekend, Friday-Sunday we have fun while he and his troupe work on the game. Visit threads you might have brushed off before.

looking at this is oddly soothing

The first houses I made were simply blocks made of dirt that I encased myself in during the night while in survival mode.

One day I decided to actually make something, for once. I made a tile by tile recreation of the player-owned castles from Ultima Online. I just made it out of stone, didn't put anything in it or decorate it or anything.

That was basically the last thing I ever did in Minecraft, I never played it much.

Is this Vermin Sup Forumseekends and VFCO you mean?

probably because it says "furfag HQ"

Ye.

>you'll never experience the fun you had playing this game with friends for the first time again
it just feels so soulless now

I DIDN'T PUT THAT SIGN THERE

Thought so, the wording makes it sound like it. I've been on it for at least 5 months. Making countless vermin

I'm pretty excited for the Christmas tourney

Even cobblestone ruins look comfy if you use shaders.

I never built houses. I just dug a hole into the side of a mountain and eventually hollowed the fucker out entirely

A 3x3x3 cube with no doors. Sealed myself in till morning because the skellie were too spoopy

topkek sounds like a great time

Same, user.
Fuck, I've only made like 4 but wanna make so many more. And Ive been here since the fucking Wiki.

It's comfy without shaders though, they're just a nice bonus.

Skipped to the Chad Mansion

a box
all of my houses in minecraft are boxes
theyll always be boxes on boxes connected to boxes
some are large boxes
some are small boxes
but i cant make houses that arent just boxes

the SHAME CUBE
youtu.be/ba2IRyq3dyE?t=51s

Why?
You like boxes or can't make other things?

...

Go and make more, there's nothing from stopping you. Just make anything that pop ups in your mind

>all these "home in the side of a mountain" answers
My niggas, I miss comfy pre-1.8 Minecraft

I doubt he's allowed to after his deal with microsoft.

When I get in the mood, I make some okay stuff. Problems arise in the fact I am terrible at art and regularly just want to stop and never look at it again.
Headless_Chik'n is my latest piece for reference.
