NiGHTs

I have two of them. Every game I've come across is garbage.

Clockwork Knight 2
Panzer Dragoon Zwei
Bulk Slash
Radiant Silvergun
Die Hard Arcade
Sega Rally

Bulk Slash is my favorite next to Nocturne X

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Bulk Slash
Burning Rangers
Guardian Heroes

Astal

All garbage. The only good thing about the Saturn was the memory card.

Sour Grapes: The Post

That Darkstalkers compilation disc that lets you choose move sets from each version. Pretty sure that was Saturn.

depends. what are you interests?

You try paying $500 for a Sega that promises so much, only to have your N64 and PSX friends laugh at you.

Most of the really good stuff is Japanese only, requires a RAM cart and is completely 2D in gameplay or graphics. Had some of the best arcade ports at the time, now they're not worth shit because you can easily emulate it all but whatever.

Can you tell me why each of those games are garbage?

why not all three?

Because they aren't fun, but no, I can't tell you specifically. I have a shit ton of consoles and Saturn is the one I play the least. The only game that really grabbed me was an old rehash of Megadrive games.

Fighters Megamix and Hanagumi Taisen Columns are all you need.

Will provide hundreds of hours of fun if you have friends to play with.

Is Shining Force III anywhere near the level of Shining Force II? If so I want it now

no one likes you dumb weeb games

Gigantic Sega faggot here. You should have known better for buying into what little hype there was for the Saturn back then. That shit was thrown onto store shelves with not nearly enough games and developers backing it and it's all Sega's fault. Were the Sega CD and 32X not lessons enough?

That said, the Saturn had a lot of good multiplat games on it and a few choice exclusives if you can find them. A lot of what's good is JP only but if you're a piratefag with a ramcart like me, you'll have a great time nowadays.

So you haven't played half of them.

Got it.

Elevator Action Returns
Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus
Battle Garegga
Necronomicon

I think it was released incomplete here in the States, but I believe some enterprising faggots translated the rest so you might find a rip of it on an iso site somewhere.

Sonic R is meme-tier garbage. If you like weeb RPGs Albert Odyssey is a decent recommendation.

It also has the better version of Off-World Interceptor Extreme.

Everything advertised by Segata Sanshiro
I can only remember Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon, Wachenroder, House of the Dead, and some baseball game.

I don't see Die Hard Arcade on that list.

So much color. Fuck I miss the 90s.

>Panzer Dragoon Zwei
>Bulk Slash
Highly agree on these two. Bulk Slash is one of my favorite action games of that era. It's something that should have gotten released on PS1 or something, so people would have actually played it back in the day ;-;

The others I would add are Elevator Action Returns
(though this can be found on a PS2 Taito collection) - it's one of my all-time favorite games.

Darius Gaiden
(same as above)

Soukyugurentai
(epic shootemup, lots of cool bosses, and affordable)

Gungriffon
(people say the sequel is better, but I haven't played it. Superbly encapsulates the feeling of fighting a war in a huge, clunky, bulky mech)

They're not my favorites but I can recommend them:

Baroque
(all in Japanese but you can brute force the menus as most of the game is a real-time dungeon-crawler)

Silhouette Mirage
(action/beatemup/platformer that has the best version, despite a decent translation by Working Designs - who nonetheless fucked up other aspects of the game... not essential if you have the PS1 version)

Guardian Force
(an amazing and epic shootemup that has sadly been price gouged to hell. One of the finest on the Saturn. A million bosses and cool weapons on one epic journey)

Shin Shinobi Den
(the digitized sprites are goofy as shit but they hide a pretty decent action game)

Keio Yugekitai
(super colorful and cutesy platformer that is relaxing and comfy on Normal but a balls-to-the-wall on Tengu/Hard difficulty)

It's tough to afford a number of these games now. Either
a) be patient
b) learn how to use Yahoo Auctions Japan and either know a guy who lives there or find a reputable shipper/middleman
c) mod your Saturn (a child could do it) and play backup CDs.
d) emulate like one of the cool kids

OP here, playing Legend of Oasis right now but goddamn is it kinda disappointing compared to the first game.

Who in their right fucking mind decided to take out the beat'emup combat from Beyond Oasis? Where the fuck are my hitstun combos?

Going to check out Bulk Slash and Elevator Action Returns.

I remember loving the fuck out of the Elevator Action game on the original Gameboy. I also heard some tracks from the saturn version and the soundtrack is fucking amazing.

I felt burned after the first year of owning one but luckily I ended up moving to a new house within walking distance of an import shop and loved capcom 2d fighters so it became precious.

I can't think of any other console with that kind of disparity between regions except for maybe the turbografx.

that pic is pure kino

i miss putting games into cd players and finding hidden tracks

Dragon Force

>Guardian Force
The ISO is 18 MB. Wish I was kidding. Great game, though.

There is only one game on the whole system worth caring about. Radiant Silvergun.

The rest is either on another system and/or complete trash.

I wasn't as huge fan of Legend of Oasis either; it has nice sprites, at the least. You can sort of sequence break things with a second character by jumping on them and reaching platforms and areas you shouldn't by yourself (maybe "sequence break" is too strong a word).

Other Saturn sequels don't really live up to their predecessors. Soleil/Crusaders of Centy was followed up by the anemic Linkle Liver Story, which I mean is ok for a $5 zelda clone with no difficulty, but it's no Soleil.

And I like Shinobi Legions, but it's no Shinobi 3!

18MB??? What? That's nuts. The game must be compressed by coding gods or something. I mean, all the music is generated by the saturn soundchip (few games do this), but wow.

Shining Force 3
Shining the Holy Ark
Albert Odyssey

And the ROM for Radiant Silvergun is also 18 MB uncompressed. That's because they were both arcade titles running on the ST-V hardware before they were brought over to the Saturn, rather effortlessly because it was basically the same hardware.

The Saturn version of RE1 is pretty good but pricey.
It has quite a bit of content not in any other versions, such as
>Tics (new enemy in the Caves)
>Second Tyrant on Chris' campaign
>Battle Game (which has zombie Wesker and Gold Tyrant)
>New models (due to the Saturn's limitations, they do look nice though)
It's not worth it if you aren't a fan of RE though. Even as a starting point it's not good, as the PS3 has DC Dualshock for $10, Deadly Silence averages at $30, PS1 versions are everywhere, and I have a PC DDL link just sitting in notepad.

Dark Saviour. Best alternate timeline story ever, also made by the same team from Landstalker.
Dragon Force. If you like Sengoku Rance you will love this game, at least 8 nations and playthroughs with different themes.
