I have a fuckhuge collection of Unreal music both released and unreleased and I've never seen Soule's name on any of the tracks. Feel free to show me up, I'm genuinely interested because it's my favourite game.

unreal 1 and ut99 is dutch electronic van den bos kino. soule only did a few tracks for unreal 2.

Oftentimes the in-game versions of tracks aren't CD quality. They're also sometimes encrypted, and other times they're split up because only certain sections of songs are supposed to loop.
Also physical > digital when possible

If there's one thing to say about those game downloads that are like, 50-80 gigs, chances are, audio-wise, you're getting .wav files.

no you usually get a metric shitload of proprietary audio files the game sound engine works with that you actually have to use other tools just to get to convertible format like wav in the first place. like user said above wwise and fmod games are a pain in the fucking ass because they're designed to be small tidbits of music that the sound engine can combine and play according to the gamestates like high action, no action, sneaking, etc. and you have to personally splice all that shit into an actual track.

A pain to listen to, but it helps make music a lot more dynamic.

Doesn't exactly use modern techniques, but I was blown away as a kid when playing Banjo Kazooie, and music changed every time you went underwater, or walked into new places.
