Killer7 and No More Heroes gave us a false hope he would be an endless well of creativity and insanity. Sadly he became pretty predictable and stale.

Suda51 didn't even direct most of the games that get attached to his name. KIller7 and NMH happen to be two that he did direct

How is Shadows of the Damned? I was always kinda interested in getting it but never did.

FS&R was only released on the DS in the west, and Silver Case got its first western release 17 years after it initially came out. It's understandable that people haven't played them

I've only played Killer Is Dead out of these and I liked it.

Killer7 and NMH are fine, Liberation Maiden was decent if not short as all fuck.

Silver Case is in my backlog, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

It's an okay RE4 clone with lots of dick jokes.

You play as a very mexican demon hunter who goes to hell to save his girlfriend from Death. The gameplay is a decent 3rd person shooter. But the dialogue and characters was the main selling point for me. It's hard to explain, just do yourself a favor and buy it or pirate it. It's worth the play.

No More Heroes(1) was alright but none of them touched on the sensation that is Killer7. It is to this day so incredible that looking at his current output I sometimes wonder if it was even made by the same man.

Maybe marketing fucked him up in that he ended up flanderizing his own games to appeal to brainlets who thought that what made Killer7 good was the eccentric ultra violence and not playing a surrealistic adventure game about metaphysical politics. I would be so happy if someone made a game like Killer7 again. Anyone, I don't care where it comes from or what machine it's on.

Lollipop chainsaw wasn't directed by him, but it's still fun. Combat is pretty clunky but it's got a lot of humor. Very short though, like 6 hours

you are 100% correct. NMH doesn't stack up against PS2-era beat em ups and actions games at all.

NMH isn't amazing but nothing you mentioned is that great either. The only amazing 6th gen beat em ups/action games are DMC1, DMC3, God Hand and Ninja Gaiden Black.

in terms of gameplay, NMH is 6/10 for me if I'm being generous. let's say that the games you listed are all 10/10. plenty of room in between those two standards. all I want to say is that even marginally more depth in NMH's combat would dramatically improve the game. it's easy for me to forgive the repetitive structure of the game as long as the actual meat is worthwhile.

Shadows of the Damned was actually a really fun, happier-toned RE4 / TEW. I liked it a lot.

Can somebody please explain to me why Mario 3 is considered the better game by everyone? I'm genuinely curious. I love both games but I always felt like SMW was the better of the 2.

it's expertly paced, which I think is the Mikami signature, and the shooting mechanics is a competent RE4 clone. as far as the game structure goes, it is more reminiscent of DMC.

I've played Killer 7 and Killer is Dead, both very unique and memorable games. Also got No More Heroes, LoliChainsaw, and Shadows of the Damned, but haven't really played them.

Yeah, this, Killer is Dead made me interested in the other Suda games, the only negative point I have about Killer is Dead is the first Boss fight, I died over 20 times and it always seems to get harder and harder, I managed to beat him through pure luck.

Killer7 is an actual work of art, and that cant be said about 99% of games.

Couldn't stomach the aiming of Killer 7 so couldn't play it more than a few hours.

Lollipop Chainsaw was atrocious
Shadows of the Damned was an alright not-RE4
Never played Liberation Maiden
Final 2 were VNs as far as I know and I can't be arsed to play VNs

You get used to Killer 7's aiming and it's actually pretty fun. Game is a wild ride too.
Also No more heroes 2 was great.

Having to trek back and forth across the island was a pain and it was ridiculous to just leave you in dark for the whole story and then just have that absurd plot dump at the end and then some of it is still left vague and unexplained. Even Mondo said something like "Where did all this come from?" at the end.
