Despite all its flaws it's the most addictive game I've played on the system and I've got 20+titles already

I've never played JRPG before, let alone a Xenoblade game, and I'm having a pretty good time with it so far. Still sort of fumbling with most of the more advanced mechanics though, it gets pretty complicated.

its a smoke screen really, shit hits the fan really hard, tons of people die, sometimes moments after you start getting attached, it's dark as balls and all you can do is watch because the direction is completely about Rex's point of view, it's not like with shulk and his revenge story, here you are just trying to scrape by while these giants are fucking themselves over political, environmental and power hungry ways

It's the opposite of 2 deep 4 u. The bad guys are really bad and their motives are obvious from the get-go. The good guys are good, and where they have stains from their past it was not their faults, at least not fully. It's not plot pileups like Xenogears or Xenosaga. Rex feels like a character from Saturday Morning Cartoons (if you can remember them).

Basically, I was expecting it to be the level of Slayers, but what I got was Konosuba.

The problem with her is that she's stuck to Rex, and there are no other good healer teammates.
It's either you use Rex as a attacker/healer hybrid and have Zeke in to make up for it, or have her as pure healer in driver form.

Making Rex the healer is the best option because of how short a cooldown his potion heal is with mythra. With arts food you can just spam heal forever

Also a guaranteed way to farm crystal cores: In the port in Mor Ardain, salvage point next to the travel point, use the basic salvage cylinders, don't try to succed the QTE, kill the enemies that spawn. Krabbles are guarenteed common cores, they have a decent chance of dropping rares, and the other enemies have a chance of dropping them.
