Kindness/Pleasant Experiences General

We focus too much on anger here, what are some pleasant experiences you've encountered in gaming?

>Be teenage me
>Always rage at people in Gears of War multiplayer ("Fucking Lag Switch!" "Sawed-off Ni**er!" etc.)
>Playing Gears 3 with my bros
>getting absolutely destroyed in warzone (by the end of match my team had like 7 kills between us)
>I've been smoking the DUDE and wasn't in the mood to rage
>message the guy at the top of the other team
>somewhere along the lines of "Dude you guys could at least use some KY or something. This is painful, I'm biting the pillow over here."
>Guy messages me back congratulating me for being the first person that night who wasn't a bitch
>included a code for a free weapon skin

In FF XIV, gave advices on how to play Black Mage to a player that was new to it and him and the rest of the party gave me advices on tanking.

It was a very good session.

...

>having a gay old time
>f2p huehue soldier literally just installed the game it seems
>doing terrible-to-okay
>give him a few basic tips like shooting at people's feet instead of the center of their mass, switching to shotgun sometimes
>He's around the middle of the scoreboard, pretty decent
>support him a bit as pyro by deflecting shit in his direction and burning spies and scouts
>he adds me

...

>"be me"
>censoring nigger
>everythingwentbetterthanexpected.jpg

Is this bait?

>be 13
>FFXI
>lvl 3 mithra
>managed to wander all the way to the dunes just to see if I could
>kept getting killed and was super worried I was stuck there
>needed to ask strangers to escort me back to Bastok (for free since I was had no gil)
>met this Black Mage who offered to help
>midway through the trip they have to go akf for a bit to help her husband
>didn't realise it was a woman
>didn't realise they were an adult
>realise this was the virtual equivalent an adult woman helping out a scared lost boy/catgirl
>my intense shyness kicked in and I logged out before she got back

I was able to log in hours later and make the rest of the trip by myself but I'll always remember this mystery woman for helping me out.

That's a cute and funny story

no I just haven't greentexted in a long ass time.

>play eve online
>see some dude trying to make some money with exploration
>sneak up on him and absolutely wreck his shit
>collect the remains of his ship
>give it back to him
>give him some pointers on how to avoid shit like this in the future by watching his scanner etc.
Doesn't sound very nice, but for EVE online thats as nice as it gets, I think.

Man, I've played FFXI around the same age.

Comfiest shit. Communicating with strangers in my broken english, adventuring with best friend until 4 AM, joining your first linkshell making new friends. And MMOs and Internet in general seemed so much less cynical and more friendly back then.

Now it's just neverending meme spouting, shitposting and ERPing.

...

I just spent over two hours in a single 2fort match and made a couple of new friends. Can't beat 2fort for bonding.

>playing Escape from Tarkov
>factory, I'm fully kitted out
>spot a guy with only a hatchet across the room
>he sees me too
>stops, wiggles back and forth to signal friendly though honestly that's never something you should pay attention to because they WILL knife you in the head the moment you turn your back
>wiggle back at him
>go over to him
>he keeps wiggling and doesn't run away
>I go up to him and drop him a pistol
>he starts following me
>we kill a guy and I let him take his gun
>still following me
>end up killing a ton of scavs and players and getting a fuckton of loot
>start moving towards the exit
>he follows
>fully expect him to try to kill me just before extraction
>but no, we just sit there and wiggle at each other in thanks as we extract
Gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling

Maple Story back in the day. I've since come to terms that I'll never really be able to get into MMO games but every time I tried to play that game people were always super eager to help me out once I got to the job specific areas

>playing Journey on my PS3 on it's day 1 release way back when
>knew nothing about the game or how it's multiplayer worked
>met what I believed to be a friendly NPC
>would chirp at each other constantly while going through the game world together
>helped each other out discovering the world and exploring without really rushing through the game
>get to the final areas
>walking up the snowy windy mountain, walking close together for warmth, chirping the entire way up
>see them slow down and fall into the snow, feel genuine sadness
>I start chirping at them
>no response
>kinda just stand there before proceeding the few steps up into the cutscene finally
>the last area, see my NPC pop up again
>fly with them as happy as can be, go through the entire final map chirping loud as hell with each other
>get to the final little platform, we land on the sand
>my npc draws me a heart in the sand and chirps while standing in the center of it
>we walk through to the end together
>after the cutscenes, I'm told that it wasn't an NPC
>it was an actual other player
>I only had 1 person
>I played and experienced that entire game with a single other person
I cried man, that game was beautiful

...

It's not really a greentext experience, but I recently beat EarthBound and I had a lovely time with it. It has definitely made its way into my top 10.
That is all.
I hope you anons are having a good time with your games too!

...

Not really kindness, but pleasantness, for me.
>Playing Rocket League on PS4
>1v1
>Losing badly, 8-1 with a minute and a half to go
>Whole match opponent has been talking shit
>Somehow, someway, I make a comeback and with a second left on the clock score my 9th goal
>I win
>Say sarcastically in chat "ggez" >He messages me on PSN calling me a nigger and that if we were locked in a room together he'd kill me.
>Report him
>Find out two days later he gets banned from PSN
And nothing of value was lost

Journey was great
Those guys have always made such peaceful games.

>16 years old back in 2011
>shitting about on the official forums for a pretty well-known game
>mention my birthday in some thread
>when that day comes one of the other posters adds me and gifts me an ingame item out of nowhere
>go on to do a bunch of cool forum events and projects with him
>He and the group of guys he introduced me to are now the best and closest friends I’ve ever had and I met them for the first time irl this past summer

That's a lovely story user, I'm happy for you!

if a video game could be my waifu, it would be Flower

Don't know if this counts but that reminds me of Gears of War 1's "Sniper Deul" lobbies and the various unspoken "Rules" of casual lobbies.
>Active Reloads were okay in sniper duels but Perfect active reloads had to be wasted
>Swinging your smoke grenade = "I am not hostile/I'm out of Ammo"
Just a bunch of guys all playing to have fun

>Boot up echo arena for the first time
>Have no idea what I'm fucking doing, I'm very new to VR and this is like my second game
>Dudes in the lobby show me the ropes
>Have a great time even though I lost
>Everyone is, so nobody is upset about losing
>Person from other team does a jack off motion and a hand throw on one of the players and just could not fucking stop laughing just because it's something so fucking unique to a game with mocap controls and was completely unexpected to see

Western gamers focus on anger cause there's nothing else to enjoy in their games beside the challenge.

I think it has more to do with games not really rewarding people for helping each other out, and only really working together when the game makes it necessary.
That and also when people get to hide behind usernames, and have no real accountability for their actions they choose to be assholes more often than not.

you're more full of shit than an indian backstreet

>2010, early January
>Load up Obsidian Conflict (hl2 sourcemod back when they meant something)
>Join a server on the map, oc_kake (AI fighting ring server)
>Meet a guy on there who was cool as hell
>We shoot the shit the entire time
>Adds me
>Eventually two more join the fray and it's been the same ever since
>Still friends with them to this day

Sometimes the internet is where the real homies are.

God that comic is depressing.

Mutiplayer is mostly a western thing, Japanese do mostly local co-op, which puts a lot more emphasis aon cooperative design, whereas western online multiplayer mostly leaves everything up to the players to create an enjoyable experience, which is lazy but also an easy way to sell games without much effort.

it's true though, western gamers are much more prone to being constatnly discontent then someone who plays Atlier or whatever.

pretty much going back to singleplayer after discovering with years of playing mp that the internet is full of angry people

people play atelier because they're discontent with everything except weebshit

Big suprise when everything else sucks

With your attitude right now, you're almost proving his point.

Throughout all my years of online, you start running into the same archetypes in terms of personalities. For example, the bottom fragger with a short fuse. Sure, there's exceptions yet why there are also easy comparisons in between communities. Certain elements that almost give you an odd sense of deja vu whenever you come across them.

>13
>The Matrix Online
>Joined my first guild in an MMO
>Join the Team Speak channel
>everybody is much older than me but they still make me feel welcome
>Log in and people are telling me about awesome stuff that happened when I was offline
>send me links to videos they recorded in-game of said awesome things (One of the guys saw the Oracle when he was in an elevator if I remember correctly)
first time I remember feeling like part of a community instead of a lone player. good times.

That image swap lol
I bet it was supposed to be a Bob Ross pic

>Now it's just neverending meme spouting, shitposting and ERPing.
Wait, it's still running?

>dont enjoying hate

russia pls

Western capitalist culture also encourages people to be dicks in general.

It's not that bad, stuff like western comics like Watchmen is way worse without any payoff.

Remember Patch Adams friends.

You can be the change. Go be a dummy and make someone laugh. It's so uplifting. It also makes the banter better and more endearing. You don't have to shut yourself off from the world. No man is an island.

>Remember Patch Adams
>actor who portrayed him in the biopic committed suicide after a lifelong battle with mental illness, depression and progressing neurological degradation
Remember indeed.

And despite that he set out to be a comedian and make people laugh, and is one of the most beloved American actors in history.

So yeah, remember indeed.

I'm pretty much feeling this. Almost 15 years of primarily multiplayer games for me and there's been too much anger and autism, especially in more recent times. I find it ironic that with how easy it is to communicate these days, everyone's more hostile and noncommunicative than the days where it was just strictly text chat.

Though I guess I can't really talk when I was that dude who would scam and kill you in MMOs that allowed it.

>I played journey in one sitting
>Was playing multiplayer
>Other player seemed a bit aimless
>finish game
>get message from that player saying “thank you for playing with my 5 year old. He loves this game. “

>Hyped as fuck for Yooka-Laylee
>Devs go full social justice warriors
>still get the game, it's pretty fun jumping and running around collecting shit but lacks something
>Get a hat in time with very low expectation
>End up having a blast laughing at shit, using abilities for fun, and enjoying the quirky characters along with the story

But hating people is so much fun. Btw fuck Al Franken.

For some reason, I don't really keep the good memories.
Only the ones that make me wake cringe every time they cross my mind.

I can't help but see the comedy as a mask over the pain. Considering how it ended, I don't see it quite so optimistically. I can't ignore the pain in the man's life because he made me laugh.

>devs go full social justice warriors
you should go see a doctor for your crippling retardation.

>Be me from years ago
>Still capable of enjoying things
>Games are fun instead of just something to stave off a depressive breakdown

My most pleasant match of dota 2 in my 4000+ hours was in Russian servers, LPQ. Everyone one was super nice, most typed and spoke in english, and it was generally a fun match.

>implying they didn't

They fired a man because of his political views.

Consider it wasn't a mask, but rather his way of curing said pain. It feels good to make people laugh.

"Political views"
Keep digging, buddy. You're only making yourself out to be more retarded.

>playing some Monster Hunter online
>randomly end up in a group of people who are getting ready to fight Golden Rathian for the third time, after having failed twice
>decide to go SnS with a set that gives wide area healing, improved recovery from items, and using a weapon that dealt little damage but paralyzed the monster
>save the group several times by healing them when they were about to get killed
>paralyze the monster three times during the fight
>cure them from the poison tail attack several times
>knock one guy out of the way of a Rathian fireball that would have killed him
They were pretty happy to finally kill it.

Every company does this, user. If someone is being more trouble than they're worth they will be replaced.

I think Jontron should have stayed in the game though.

The problem is he has every right to say what he wants off company time on his personal twitter/videos/etc. You can only legally be fired if you say these things at work when you've been told not to. I can photoshop a pic of me sucking off Hitler and post it on Facebook if I want and McDonald's can't fire me over it because it doesn't affect my job performance.

It's good that you're able to see it that way but for me the way it ended just makes me think the pain won out.

This isn't true. I worked at the customer service desk for a Best Buy-type store a few years back and at least three of my co-workers saw disciplinary action for shit-talking manufacturers whose products we stocked on their facebook pages.

I had fun in Crawl with a buddy last weekend. Other than that I don't really have any good experiences to share. Just been playing games. Trying to find some people to play co-op games with.

>for shit-talking manufacturers whose products we stocked

Because that directly affects their job. If you sell an item for a company you can't turn around and say that item is trash, it's a conflict of interest. What he said about immigration or Trump has nothing to do with video games.

Fair play, I misunderstood your point.

That's not true at all. Look up at will employment, companies can fire you with no just cause with some exceptions

Never really made any online friends I can say that I had good stories with and I always sorta wanted one good online friend i could truly call a friend and have adventures with. Any good games i could make friends on?

Except that's not the way the world works, nor terms of employment. If an employer doesn't want to be associated with you, they will find a reason to fire you. All it takes is one vague clause in your employment agreement.

ye, is bob ross forbidden or what?

No, user, that's not true. You can not behave however you want on your sparetime without repercussions since you will inevitably represent the company some way. Jontron and his comments made him a volatile asset. If they kept him then journalists would no doubt complain and it could potentially endanger sales or reputation. Firing him was the best thing to do.

Had a game of Halo 2 back in the day, a CTF match, and an enemy player gave me a lift back to my team's base while I was holding his team's flag. Good times.

I got a game here for my birthday. That was nice. I still haven't played it yet because I'm trying to finish the game I'm on right now.

>play Dark Souls III Ringed City DLC when it comes out
>finish the dlc, go around finding secret locations and shit
>eventually satisfied with everything, time_to_invade.png
>invade a couple of teams of 3 because no one plays this game alone
>get some good invades eventually
>after a while, a little bored, I invade and meet this guy on his way to kill Silver Knight Ledo.
>Wave at him from the part where you have to drop to go to Ledo.
>He use seed and then waves back. I notice he's low HP so I just tell myself "fuck it I'm gonna help him however I can"
>Drop down, cast warmth.
>He doesn't attack me while I do it.
>Suddenly a sun bro drops down next to me and spams block
>We're good to go, I help them clear the whole zone, fight the enemies with them, show where traps are, show them hidden locations and all
>Eventually after about 50 minutes everything is pretty much done and I can't acompany them further
>Wave at them and use a black crystal
>"That was fun."
>The host friends me on Steam
>We talk for a while and he says he's going to offer me a game for 20$ or less
>"Dude you don't have to"
>I'm just gonna gift to you my favourite game, he says
>"Uh ok. Thanks"
>Get "To the moon".
>Still havn't played it

>helping out a scared lost boy/catgirl
So the female equivalent of a lost boy is a catgirl ?

Well, if you were a guy and people saw you trying to help a lost catgirl, they might be too shocked at the sight of a catgirl to start accusing you of being a child molester. So maybe a lost girl has to be a catgirl to be acceptable.

>overwatch
>really really shit with genji, but he is fucking cool I need to master him
>I fill everytime because no heals/no tanks
>"I guess I'll always be shit with genji"
>I discover the aim practice skirmish lobbies
>starting to learn how to play him
>some grandmaster says something about my rank
>"yeah I know I'm no good" I think
>instead of laugh at my rank, what he wanted to say is what I was doing in diamond because I played genji like a pro
I'll keep stuying the blade, user, wherever you are.

He was a Mithra which is the catgirl race

reeeeeeeeeee

>still no kamen rider game like viewtiful joe

Booyahs and celebratory flopping about after a successful Salmon Run in Splatoon 2 is surprisingly uplifting, even if the Run was easy. Getting a booyah for saving someone's ass is satisfying too.

And? Did he not do a lot of good during his life?

>Get "To the moon".

So you befriended a weeb. Good job, user.

I haven't played it either, but I've only heard heaps of praise. Should problably give a playthrough considering its reputation.

Hey there poster. Make sure to stretch a little today. Maybe pick up a little trash around your desk to. Only if you want to that is. Watch out for that deep vein thrombosis. Its a silent creeper I tell ya.

Now. Don't forget to smile. You made it this far right?

I wish I had footage of it, but one time me and the other player managed to climb to the very peak of the mountain. It turned out that if you do a full chirp next to your partner it would give them a higher boost, so we kept boosting each other up the wall till we got to very top. We then sat down and just enjoyed the peace for like 5 minutes.

He then showed me that if you sit down at the very edge of the mountain, its possible to fall down into the abyss and you won't automatically be carried up like normal. There we must've sat there for like 10 minutes that time. It was fucking magical, and I was so amazed we could do those things without a single spoken or written word to each other.
