I can't get into this game, it's too hardcore for me.
Am I a brainlet if I can handle XCOM, Xenonauts, Infinity Engine stuff and whatnot, but can't handle Jagged Alliance 2?
managing inventory was more fun than the combat
best starting merc hires, go
I play XCOM and enjoyed JA2 a lot. I had to look up the manual online to learn how to do everything, it started getting fun once I started getting the hang of it.
Stephen Sondegaard Dr. Q Spider
Send Dr. Q to fight in San Mona right away, play with the other 3.
Silent Storm is better
I should clarify, I meant the nuXCOM games, as in Enemy Unknown and XCOM2.
Original XCOM is same tier as JA2 for me, too hardcore.
Can you link the manual you used? I really want to overcome my retardation and have JA2 "click" for me.
See Silent Storm wasn't a problem for me, neither was the Commandos Trilogy.
Silent Storm is dogshit compared to JA and X-COM, slavic trash knockoff.

The keyboard shortcuts section at the bottom is particularly useful.
Thanks user, didn't even realize Steam had a manuals section, shit must be hidden.
Like my OC?
I didn't know your mechanics automatically fixed every weapon belong to your squad in the sector at the time
...
I don't remember having any issues with guns jamming too often in my playthroughs.
7.62 NATO is a perfectly fine round for sniping
Currently replaying JA2 with arulco vacations.
>tfw defending Balime from 50 enemies
>tfw defending Grumm from 80 enemies but the game literally shits itself and spawns enemies randomly on the map because it can't deal with that many people
Still such a fun game though, and I played it for the first time just last year.
For the full action hero aesthetic there needs to be a minigun
>entering that one sector west of San Mona
Just recently started my first playthrough, took the Drassen airport and keep getting attacked while trying to heal up. I've got 40 hours till my hired guns leave and I'm almost broke.
Time to rush for the Drassen mine and hope I can defend it till I get my funds up to hire new mercs. This game is fun as fuck while you're still figuring out the mechanics. Can't wait to master it and try making a fucking ninja with shuriken some day.
go eat a dick faggot
Probably better off taking Chitzena mine first, then Drassen airport, build up some funds then push to take Drassen cause there's a big counterattack if you're playing 1.13
>Taking Drassen
Beware the counterattack.
I cheesed the counterattack by putting everyone prone on the sweatshop roof and popping them as they climbed up
I felt kind of guilty doing it but a friend recommended I turn off the massive Drassen attack in the ini files. When I fail to keep the mine occupied from regular attacks with just my donut steel and Ira I might just restart, turn on the attack and take your advice.
I wish JA2 did have awful graphics and interface becaus conceptually it's one of the best games ever
That part of Drassen is for babies, the mine area will give you the PTSD especially if you're attacked from 3 directions.
You'll probably want everyone equipped with something better than pistols if possible get some rifles, assault rifles even better.
Bobby didn't have any assault rifles so I bought Leech a bolt action because he has the marksman trait, figuring I'd get a scope for him at some point too. Honestly he's hardly fucking hit a thing and takes billions of AP to reload. Any specific recommendations on the rifles?
>1.13 has Mausers and Mosins
>No M1903
RRRRREEEEEEEEEE someone fix this!
Arulco Vacations is a mod for 1.13 that adds tons of surplus WW2 shit and has a ton of other tweaks (for example the regular army using surplus shit).
Damn, I always thought about playing JA2 but found it too intimidating for me. What path should a complete noob take to get into it? Mods, guides, ...?
MAGIC
I was the same until I found out a friend had played it a bunch so now I just constantly pester him with questions while I trial & error it out.
Did you go vanilla?
Nah I went 1.13
Beginning a new 1.13 is always a shitfest for me, because I start with a few pistol newbie mercs. Having just one competent rifle merc helps so much.
Yeah I'm having a pretty hard time, but at least I have my self-made guy who has a fully automatic rifle. He could probably get me through a lot if I didn't suck at the game. Even with night vision goggles and night ops I feel like enemies spot me before I spot them.
Heres a hint for others struggling:
-Hire mobile militia and attack with them
-Hire good mercs but only for a short time and put them to work
-Use camouflage/all items, dont hog it.
-The enemy generally isnt a pushover, dont treat them like in any other game where their only reason to exist is to give you exp.
Last game that I played was around 5 years ago, but I remember having such easy and fun time I used an smg as a machine gun because I was carrying so much 9mm ammo.
