Tough. Takes decent ranged weapons to take them down. Melee isn't a good option because they can basically instantly remove fingers/toes and sometimes larger in only a couple hits.
If that area has a natural ceiling, a mortar would be devastating against them.

To call a raid or caravan there is always the dev mode option, or make the mod for it, or I think there was a way for the intercom to call caravans. Either way you can also go to their camp and wrekt shit up.

Rimworld let's you lower the map size that things going on, or make it bigger.
On the side note shit happens all around the world, it's just not loaded (?). For instance you have 5 colonies and they age and feed/sleep but the engine doesn't run it to slow down everything else. Kinda weird to explain.

i.e. do you really REALLY need to make 24+ tile bedrooms? With the headboard one square from all walls because colonists get cramped thoughts when their head is next to a wall for some reason?
So, I recruited a dude that is not terrible hat handling animals and he managed to tame a male and a female muffalo and train my pet monkey. I was wondering, can I train the muffalos to use as war animals? Is that feasible or will they get slaughtered, by raiders? I have a whole herd on my doorstep and seeing how easily this guy tames and trains these fuckers I might try to get the whole herd and just swarm potential raiders with them. Also do I have to feed them or can I just leave them in a grassy area and be done with it?

every damn update seems to have its own modset when new mods arrive and old mods are deprecated
what you should do in this new update is compile a modlist and save local copies of each mod, which is made easier with that one mod manager... mod.
that way when A19 comes you can just stay in A18 with your local A18 mods and update piecemeal to the next build at your leisure
