What are some satisfying vidya weapons?

What are some satisfying vidya weapons?

I think the Mantis from ME2 is one of my favorites.

>dat imposing TWOOM sound when you fire it
>the huge blood spurt when you land a killing headshot
>Garrus yelling RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES beside you
>the click clank when the clip ejects and a new one loads in

Never gets old.

Shooting in any mass effect game was never satisfying

...

Name a better gun. Didn't think so.

M14 in basically any game is satisfying to me

I'm sorry but its true. Sci fi weapons in general always have a distinct lack of oomph. Mass effect gameplay didn't help

For that smooth reload

Somehow forgot image

Dude, the Mantis sucks in all ME games. Almost every other sniper rifle is better.

Battle rifles and shotguns are my thing.

Ada's crossbow

Broomhandles are pretty nice too

>every scifi weapon in every scifi game lacks 'oomph'
This is the community of Sup Forums today. Why are you alive.

I wish more games had battle rifles as a dedicated thing. Too many of them have them as a two shot sniper rifle or just semi automatic high damage assault rifle. I remember CoD ghosts having a DMR class but that was it.

>state accurate fact

Flammenwerfer in Wolfenstein 2009 is the best flamethrower I've tried. Good range and coverage, instantly seals the fate of the basic troopers.
Pic related is music to my ears.

There's a basic difference between a fact and an opinion, user.

Sci-fi guns in video games lack "oomph" is an opinion, in this case your opinion. It is not a fact.

Nah, my opinions always align with facts. Sorry to burst your bubble, squirt

dumb frogposter

Almost any Turok 2 weapon.

what IS a battle rifle?
remember seeing it on DX:MD, been playing games for years and had never seen one so I didn't even use it

Explosives. Especially C4. It doesn't matter which game, being able to plant an explosive and manually detonate it at just the right time is the best. Even better when you can plant several of them to set off a chain reaction of explosions.
Tripwires and claymores, not so much, they're too passive and don't give the same level of satisfaction when you get somebody with them.

Grenade launchers (or even just thrown grenades, even smoke grenades are fun to play with) are also almost universally great. They get overlooked or undue hate because kids cry about "noobtubes" in their Call of Duties, but grenades and launchers more often than not require more effort and risk to get kills compared to any simple gun (especially nowadays, all of that fucking whining has devs making most grenade launchers weak as shit).
Especially if I can ricochet them around corners, or aim high to get them to arc over some obstacles. The satisfaction of leading my shot to get a direct hit, or firing a grenade high into the air to have it come down many seconds later right on top of a guy, knocking it around corners to kill an enemy I can't even see, and that you usually are only carrying a couple of them so you have to make them count, explosives are very satisfying.

And yet the good ol' Widow does it better.

I don't know what to tell you, snipers in ME always had plenty of oomph. The sound they made in ME1 was particularly good.

It sure is satisfying when your gun with infinite ammo absolutely refuses to fire if it doesn't have sufficient cooling elements installed.
You aren't allowed to like Quake4 in this neighborhood.

I ought to make a couple of webms of this thing in Fusion. The range got buffed so much it rectifies the first batch of levels, and stays useful throughout.

Bullshit, Raven shooters get lasting recognition everywhere.

But Sup Forums hivemind mandates that only odd number Quakes are acceptable and there can't be anything redeemable about the rest. I won't explain why because there is no actual argument but you're just supposed to listen and believe.

Shut your gob, nobody cares about your pissy fits. I've seen plenty of praise for q4 here.

This shit was so loud.

You're already giving him too much attention. He's just trying to start shit.

Is that some fucking Urban Terror?

TAKKA TAKKA TAKKA

Good shit.

It was just a joke because Sup Forums hates Quake 2 because "doesnt have muh abstract level design" and Quake 4 is that except with non-combat unskippable story scenes and turret segments.
However Mass Effect 2 guns still suck because heat clips are a retarded concept.

I loved this in MGS4 especially when online worked.

Any 9x39 gun makes me cream myself but this one in particular is my favorite.

It's so boring that S.T.A.L.K.E.R has uniques like a 9x18mm SMG, a .45ACP SMG and a 9x39mm sidearm, but they don't have irl-based unique models. It's just a 9x18mm MP5, a .45ACP MP5 and a 9x39mm Desert Eagle.

not enough games have cool snipers it's always some super generic looking m700, a DSR or PSG1 variant, a dragunov variant, and some ugly anti material rifle. At least put in some of the iconic looking ones. Or put like an accuracy international chassis on the the m700.

I used to have a Cheyenne Tactical model replacement for the AWP in CS 1.0. Now CodMW2 has ruined that gun for everyone.

>clip

...

There are mods at least, Arsenal Mod in particular added a lot of cool shit.

They're thermal clips, not ammo clips, calm down.

The WA2000 is so cool and unique looking. A shame it's so expensive.

A man of taste I see
I really had a hardon for it when I used to play Combat Arms
>putting all the ACR/G36 faggots in their place
>countersniping AWP faggots
>putting all the wallet warriors in their place

My mistake

If you're /k/, it's a mistake and there was no reason to get triggered. If you're Sup Forums it's even worse because thermal clip retcon.

>not liking anti-materiel rifles

Anything this man touches.

The A-10C Warthog

I know, it's even worse when you think about how flimsy the explanation is
>"having to worry about running out of ammo made soldiers actually try to aim before shooting"
It's a real shame because while easy to break in ME1, it was an interesting system and added to the immersion and lore of it, and then it got turned into just ammo for the streamlining of the series. I wish 2 had legacy weapons like the one rifle ME3 had in its DLC.

Why are revolvers always the most satisfying guns to use?

I remember the guns from The Darkness 2 being super satisfying for some reason

BF1's shotguns are some of the best I've seen in any game.

...

So was impaling people on spikes and ripping them in two.
That game was one of the few "edgy done right" games.

probably not exactly what OP is going for but the AA & field guns in BF1 are rad when you have something to shoot at

The Mattock was my favorite gun from ME2. Something about the semi-auto and being able to fire as fast as you could flick the trigger felt so satisfying.

name a better friendship destroyer, protip you cannot

You are small-time
