What happened to the competitive FPS scene? FPS games are the only thing I excell at yet there are no more FPS's worth playing. CSGO and CoD are both shit now.

Just because a game is easier doesn't mean it's strictly worse. The mechanics of Promod for example just "feel" better than CS:GO's, or at least the movement does.

Promod lacks an economy which makes it easier. However on the other hand it also eliminates snowballing, and depending on your preferences/opinions, it eliminates what many consider to be really boring pistol/eco rounds.

Doom 2016 felt a bit plastic but was overall pretty great quake-kino. If it was a bit more gritty and a bit more quake it could have been fantastic.
Don't really even care for singleplayer anymore, but i still go back and play Q1 a few times a year just to get my kick.

What the fuck are you smoking? That's literally all there is to play now days, and the biggest gripe I have with the industry. Fucking kids just want to shoot and shout obscenities at each other. Now if you would complain about co-op being dead you would be on to something.

I did enjoy Doom but I'd wish they'd have relied less on locking you into (admittedly pretty well designed) arenas that felt like the game was a sequence of multiplayer maps.

I tend to do the same with quake, I keep it installed on my laptop for whenever I'm bored in a university lecture and need to kill some time.

Yeah I only really noticed it on my second playthrough, I still really enjoyed the game though, it really clicked for me once I had the air control rune and the faster glory kills rune.

Siege is genuinely fun since it feels like proper evolution of counter strike, I imagine half the people shitting on it are poorfag kids that can't run it. Especially after operation health seemed to fix some of the bullshit.

Unreal turned to shit because the netcoders all left to work for blizzard because of how much money they were making in WOW and StarCraft.

Quake and Unreal both turned into engine-demos instead of games.

Doom 2016 was literally nothing like Quake in any way. Doom 3 is closer to Quake and the multiplayer is actually good and is like a mix of Quakeworld and Quake 2 slowed down.

The competitive scene for many games died out in recent years because games like DOTA and CS:GO have come up to the plate and completely drowned any want for other competitive games. CS:GO practically killed the competitive FPS scene. If anything, it should have just stayed as 1.6 being competitive
