It used to be for the reveals but they’ve been shot for the past few years. Dorito Pope keeps claiming each new show is the biggest and best it’s been, but they’ve all been disappointments.

Basically this. It was one of the few real shows on the internet so it gained a lot of attention even though it was full of reddit-tier humor.

I feel like Mario Odyssey or BOTW will win that. It's going to be a Nintendo dominated award show in general, so don't expect too much.

2014 was a barren as fuck year if you weren't playing on a Nintendo system, and they still found a way to give Nintendo as few awards as possible.
2017 was a great year for Nintendo, but I'm expecting similar results, especially since they actually have competition this year.
