Echoes is how you do it as wrong as possible.

They're both essentially the same in terms of approaches to remaking a game. They updated the graphics, kept the core ideas, but added a few extras and ease of play features without feeling like they compromised the original vision. I really liked both games

If that was the case, Metroid 2 and SR would have mostly the same map layout and level design. But they don't.

Nah, I'm pretty sure folks count it as console first and foremost since you can dock the Switch. But who knows how that'll change in the future.
