What did Mario do wrong that Link did right?

What did Mario do wrong that Link did right?

Zelda fanboys are more autistic, and the Zelda name means instant GOTY, even though Odyssey was god-tier

OP's Brain, it seems.

Cater to fujos and fags.

Mario is a better game but Zelda was an "experience." You die a lot in the beginning, explore a huge (read: empty) world, and things drag on a lot longer than they need to. Most people have 100%ed Mario by now but they still had more Zelda DLC that came out that same night. Despite the difference in release dates, Zelda was the one fresh in everyone's minds.

So will everyone forget about Zelda next year, or will it leave a true lasting impact? Normies say it is “revolutionary” now.

Definitely will leave an impact. Just look at Skyrim, it'll be the same thing.

Has Mario even done anything wrong?

made a game with only two weeks worth of content

Zelda games last longer than 5 hours.

I think the problem with Mario is the story isn't strong enough to make getting all of those moons exciting. The moons don't hold a lot of weight to them, and that's literally what you spend the entire game collecting. The few points where the story starts is when the game is the most fun (The dragon, darker side of the moon, final boss, raining portion of metro, metro celebration). The other games each star means a lot more. Mario is still great, but it's not like Zelda where everything your doing is preparing for the final encounter, even though that final encounter is lame as fuck.

That's how I feel. There's no point in getting anymore moons than it takes to move to the next area. At least in Zelda doing extra stuff actually benefits your character.

The game got so overhyped because it plays so well that if you played it for 4 hours or so you'd give it a ten. I think a wacky, more story driven majora's mask esque luigi sequel using all the same assests could be pretty great. Also Waluigi should be in it cuz he's lit.

No.

be italian

Odyssey was a better game but it's ultimately just a polished Mario game. BotW has problems but it's got the potential to change the direction of the gaming industry forever and is definitely going to impact a lot of games in the next decade.

cater to people who arent platformer autists stuck in the 90s
