Nothing really specific, but for story, I would focus on building the characters further, particularly Crash himself. I don't see how there's any sense in keeping the characters as superficial as they currently are, Crash himself being written as the most superficial through the years. Doesn't need to be really convoluted or dramatic, but enough to spark discussions about the characters and the relationships between them. I think Crash could be a very interesting character if written properly, even though he can't speak. Just need to think outside the box for Crash in particular.
We remake Spyro in HD.
For level themes, I would definitely return to Crash's roots aesthetically. That is, the jungles and ruins of the first two games, and maybe branch out a little bit from there. I really miss the variety of moods Crash 1 (the original, not the remake) had, all the way from riding a hog to a ridiculous Gaben sex theme tune, to the black void nightmare fuel of Generator Room.
I would, however, NOT keep the narrow, linear paths of the originals, and instead make it a bit more open. This could be through more branching paths, combined with some open areas, maybe even some light puzzles and key item collection. I remember reading about this game theory of "rivers and lakes". I believe you can make out what kind of level design I mean by that. I can't find a source on it right now, but it's in The Art of Game Design.
I got an idea for a boss:
Wombatant (Pun is Wombat and Combatant)
It's a wombat with an arsenal of missiles, TNT crates and Nitro Crates. The fight goes with first missiles being launched first. You spin these back at him (Need to spin 3 of them back to him to damage him). He gets a little bit mad and throws TNT at you in which you have to lure him to them just as they explode. Then he throws Nitro crates while going balistic with missiles (These ones you can't spin back). You need him to get a missile into the nitro crate and that completes a phase. 2nd phase goes TNT -> Missiles (Except they are faster) -> Nitro crates. Third phase is random in which order he does it
No, we don't do that. If you watch the Skylanders Academy episode starring Crash Bandicoot, you will see how Activision has no plans of doing a Spyro solo game, while Crash is clearly its own thing.
How about a giant spider boss? This is 'Straya after all.
Crash Team Racing HD with Online Multiplayer.
Make Crash time travel to a dystopian future where he can travel around a poorly planned city by stealing cars and hover boarding. Give him guns and most importantly, he starts talking!
Absolutely - after a glorious modern Crash Bandicoot platformer.
CTR
Fucking post, you cunts.
Will VV even work on the next Crash, assuming there will be one?
I hope if they ever make a game they'll unfuck the physic and stop being such retards
Reminder that Vicarious Visions have made a Crash racing game and it was average.
It also had really annoying voice acting constantly playing through races.
I recently had this idea for how Crash is portrayed. He seems to be seen by most people as quite mischievous, and since he's an Australian animal... My idea was to write lines for Crash that are simply the most savage and brutal Australian banter, and have Crash subtly act them out through body language instead of actually saying them.
This game is 14 years old, user. VV might have drastically changed by now.
We need more Crash news, because these threads just aren't taking off at this time.
Post more boss ideas.
Crash Twinsanity HD with all the cut content put back in
A boss fight that is a hybrid with the chase sequences of the polar bears in Crash 2 or similar giant terrifying animal, in which half the battle is running away (could be made interesting and intense if you HAVE TO outsmart it with obstacles and simply running would let it catch up with you), and the other half is luring the boss into traps in certain sections of the level.
The remake is literally the same
Make some actual Asian levels instead of just Pura run stages. I better yet, hybrids where you start on foot before you need pura.
Yeah. If the N Sane Trilogy is any indication they've gotten worse.
What is even wrong with it?
As far as gameplay goes, the two things that stand out are the pill shaped hitbox and applying the same jumping physics in all 3 titles, even though they were different in the originals, without adjusting the levels for it.
Not too sure what I'd do with the story but I'd definitely include a lot of the characters from the og trilogy and maybe crunch/nina, the rest like n.trance would be erased.
Level themes would be sorta like crash 1, I love the juxtaposition of industrial and natural
Gameplay would be like the og trilogy however I'd have warpeds move set and actually design the levels to utilize the move set more, also I'd have more of the brio and cortex bonus levels from crash 1, I fucking loved those things and wish there were more (I liked the new one VV added in Stormy Ascent).
New bosses would all be australian native animals.
Could you expand on this and maybe give an example?
No, it's not. The mood of all the darker levels in Crash 1 are changed to fit the the mood of the rest of the levels in Crash 2 and 3.
Yeah, the atmosphere is gone in remake crash 1 but the environments in the natural levels are actually done pretty well, shame the music isn't all that though.
Is N-Sane worth playing if I value Crash for nostalgia? (I was around 5 when I played them)
The new music is such a mixed bag it's frustrating. There are things I really like, such as the 70's sounding organ they put into some tracks, including Crash 1's main theme, and putting in more drum fills, but at the same time the drums sound weaker, and everything that was intentionally made to sound either gritty or off key was made sterile and "correct" (synth in Heavy Machinery, brass in Temple Ruins, bells in Generator Room). Oh, and back to the organ - while I generally like the addition of it - FUCK that organ playing on top of Slippery Climb.
I don't think you should play Crash, or any other game now if you have no interest in the game or genre outside of nostalgia.
You mean the layout of the levels is identical, which is the bare minimum of what was asked of them. The animations are worse, the music is worse and it altogether just looks cheaply made. I could go into great detail about what's wrong with them if you'd like.
Make it a Switch exclusive.
I don't mean the layout, I mean the environment you see off to the sides, especially in the first few crash levels.
The layout is identical because they were given the actualy mapped out levels by ND
Sorry I was being very vague. I do enjoy the games, but I can't enjoy remakes like Pokemon FireRed because they're lacking that janky charm I associate with the original
Just as an example, I've noticed how when a boss or other character insults Crash, Crash doesn't really have a response, other than maybe in Crash of the Titans. That's not particularly convincing for a character who is generally viewed as mischievous. So, let's say you write an insult line for the character insulting Crash, then you write a really savage response for Crash to say back, but he doesn't say it. He acts it out through animation, or other means that don't include speaking, and preferably not babbling either.
Here's hoping for CTR or Spyro remake announcement tomorrow.
>tomorrow
Isn't PSX in two hours?
The remake has some of the charm to me, especially Crash 1. The graphics are good, but a common criticism is that it's too smooth, and they have a point in some of the levels, but generally it's good.
However, one thing you might not like, depending on how picky you are, is that you will have to readjust your jumps a little compared to the originals. You can't simply go from muscle memory, but I readjusted just fine. The bridge levels can be a real bitch at first in the remake, though.
>Isn't PSX in two hours?
Holy shit what.
That makes sense and would actually be pretty cool, I remember hoping for short cutscenes before bossfights in n.sane.
>the image of crash just flipping the bird at n.tropy just popped into my head
Why do so many people want Spyro to remain a platformer, but turn Crash Bandicoot into a racing only franchise?
No one wants that.
I want CTR and more crash platformers.
The fuck are you talking about?
Alright, maybe I was exaggerating, but I get kinda triggered when a vocal minority is only interested in CTR, when we haven't even had a new platformer yet.
Jak II sucked tits
Well it's logical. Remake the good Crash games and then start on new ones.
Maybe, but to a new audience, that would be confusing before establishing Crash as primarily a platformer. Besides, I don't see the point of making a CTR remake, when we could have an entirely new racing game that plays just like it, but with additional content from a new platformer.
Anyone else here who doesn't really have anything against these Titans creatures exist in Crash's universe, without jacking them?
People ask for CTR because most of the work is done already. They can just get the old tracks, add online and that's it. Unless they severely fuck up the driving physics it's pretty much guaranteed to be at least good. A brand new platformer would be a riskier task since they would have to come up with nearly everything on their own this time. If Crash wants to avoid another downfall then he can't afford to have mediocre or outright bad games. I'd still like to see them try though, the GBA games by them weren't half bad and since they practically had to study the original games for N. Sane hopefully they'll have learned what made them good.
The work is already done like said. Why not give us a pretty looking CTR, slap online in it and then churn out sequels to both?
Is "remake Twinsanity with all of the cut content" an option?
Only if we cut Spiralmouth.
Semi-open world but ultimately linear. Like Twin Sanity, except the levels should be designed so they loop back around to the start of the level to make short cuts so you can replay levels.
Why?
Sounds like the Dark Souls approach to open world to me.
I would rather have it the way you described ultimately linear, but always moving forward and not looping. I want to see as much of Crash's world as possible, so going back to start isn't really what I would like.
Because it was a mistake.
they're disbanded anyway.
the lead guy was busy tweeting this on the anniversary of twinsanity rather than acknowledging the game lmao
Aw, man. They were pretty good.

Figured he was a regressive. I don't want any regressives working on my beloved Crash Bandicoot.
I don't know why Gabriel Mann decided to deviate so radically from Crash's sound either. He did it again with the cancelled Crash Landed:
Give Tiny and Crash a subtly homoerotic rivalry
Didn't that kinda happen in Crash of the Titans?
That wasn't tiny, they decided to not simply change his design but change his fucking species too.
I guess. Radical retired Tiny for Mind Over Mutant, which was obviously due to the backlash, but they didn't say it themselves.
