I hope not.

What's the context of his post?

What happened to patreon this time?

It's banning cucks such as you, your father or your grandad.
Stupid arrogant piece of shit.

Patreon won't pay CC fees. $0.35 or something added to all transactions.

Mandatory additional fees added on top of current pledges.

They also changed billing to be anniversary based, so if a person is funding 20 different people for .50 cents each, now instead of a single charge of $10 they get 20 charges to their card across the month for .85. Apparently the fees were always there, it just came as a cut from what the person got. Now they decided to put the fees out front, and patrons are furious about it.

They updated their payment policy so that supporters pay more funds to cover costs. Basically instead of someone paying $1 a month per pledge, it's $1 + .35c + some tax. People that get funds through Patreon are pissed cause it's putting extra costs on supporters rather than just Patreon taking the funds out of their payout at the end of the month. Patreon's reason is so that more funds go to the actual project or person you're trying to support though. Previously people would get something like 86% of someones support paid out, now it's 95% of support.

>.35c

...

God, I hope not.

Anyone who makes money prattling on endlessly about videogames should be forced to get a real goddamn job. Make it your hobby, fine, but paying people to somehow be bigger twats about videogames than even Sup Forums? Fuck that.

I doubt they're going to actually implement this change. The creator forums are melting down right now, there's a thread up with like 200 posts of creators complaining about it.

The biggest issue is that they're charging that per pledge. So people who support a large number of creators at a low level are going to have to scale back that support massively as the extra costs send them wildly overbudget.

Poor babies. I guess it’s time to get a job!

>The biggest issue is that they're charging that per pledge. So people who support a large number of creators at a low level are going to have to scale back that support massively as the extra costs send them wildly overbudget.
Good.

Shifted the fees so clique members that all circle jerk donate $1 to each other have to pay the fees now

Does that mean that those people will need to get a real job and content will be made out of sheer passion again?

>video game content creators?
you mean bloggers

This is some impressive propaganda. Yes they're getting 95% of the pledged amount now, but you can clearly see that their overall take of the total amount paid by the patron is lower.

As long as Cumtown and the dick show are fine that's alright desu.

Yeah! They should be flipping burgers and feeding the next generation of baby boomers like the rest of us!

...

Great, give Jim Sterling another reason to talk about himself. This will be just like the time he got sued, and talked on endlessly about himself. Nice.

Did he jack off on himself

What is it with free market faggots yelling about how capitalism allows you to grow to the top, but immediately when they find someone they don't like making money the cry?

I wasn't referring to that. I don't use patreon, so I'm pretty neutral on that. I tried it out, but decided I'd just donate lump sums when someone made a video, piece of art or whatever that I liked.

I was pointing out a mistake. It's either $0.35 or 35 cents, not 0.35 cents, as you posted. That would be 0.35 of a penny, not 35 cents.

They could pursue a business model that doesn't involve Patreon. But then they'd have to actually produce high quality work on a regular schedule, which for most of these faggots is asking a lot.

I think the problem is that these people are clearly not making enough money for their taste and then complain about it. At that point, they should just get another job. I have no problem with the ones that found their niche and make money off streaming/blogging . By bumbling idiots begging because they're failing at it should just look somewhere else for income.

Oh, that wasn't me.
As far as I know it's a $0.35 service charge, and then tax on top.

there's nothing wrong with flipping burgers
it's an honest job and people gotta eat

there is literally nothing wrong with what patreon is doing

>video game "content" "creators"
Get a job fatso.

You say that like everyone that uses Patreon is a lazy content creator. I'm not talking about retarded fucking Youtubers, but artists deserve compensation for that work, and being an animator on Youtube is a horrible deal, and aside from taking commissions, this is their main means of funding.

lol gotta love the instantly distorted graphs
This fake news world is hillarious

>Keep Sup Forums from attention whores
>Keep trying to get attention by posting these pics

because they don't actually give a fuck about the free market, and are jealous that talentless hacks are getting paid to do what they perceive to be as nothing, simply because they had the social skills to manipulate people into paying them
essentially, they're dumb worthless faggots bitching about the slightly less dumb worthless faggots that crawled their way out of worthless faggotry

No. His wife’s son jerks off on him.

>but artists deserve compensation for that work
According to who?

>you lived long enough to watch the downfall of these lazy beggars

>patreon jews gettong fucked

Dear Diary, today was a good day.

>Sup Forums worships the ground these people shit on
Y I K E S

no that's from prepping the bull

seriously

""""""art""""" has no place in modern society and it'll be a good day when this shitty meme dies out

That just makes it sound like it's just not a good career choice in the first place.

Artists "deserve" what their audiences think they deserve. If they believe their work is really worth money to people, then they should try selling it themselves and see how much they earn.

Furry porn artists can suck it up

>clueless tards that don't know there are plenty of worthy patreons getting fucked by this too, not just youtube e-celebs

Anyone have that comic about YouTubers saved somewhere. The one that ends with "Get a job"?

Name a few.

There's nothing wrong with sitting in front of a computer to record and edit YouTube videos. It's an honest job and people gotta be entertained.

>Is there a future for video game content creators?
Yeah, YouTube and Twitch keeps getting bigger and bigger each year. 5 years ago there were only a handful of people with over 1 million subs on YT, now there's over 2000.

>worthy patreons
Don't exist.

Jordan deserves all the help he can get.

>Patreonfags btfo

Adjusted the bottom graph to be the same length as the top graph. Now you can see the truth.

>game engines, podcasts, documentaries, modders, table top games, news etc etc etc
Literally all kinds of people use patreon.

So a philosopher? Nah. He can do his philosophy and work a job or starve

According to the people that put more effort into things than you do.

>Take art away from modern society
>Logos and designs disappear altogether because no one's making them
>No music is made
>No books are written
>No movies are produced
>Even things like video games would stop being made
>Everything might as well be black and white and completely static
Yeah, great fucking idea you goddamn stupid mouthbreathing retard. Art is literally one of the major foundations of modern society.

You're probably one of those faggots that scream about how artists should only be paid in exposure, aren't you?

>ban porn
>now you are losing revenue
Kek

>le YouTubers are lazy meme

That's pretty fucking rich, my dudes. Bunch of NEETs and wage slaves trying to invalidate people who spend shitloads of time on writing, recording and editing videos from the comfort of their home.

You brainlets are so backwards, I bet you also voted for Trump so he can re-open the coal mines for your dads to go back in and get lung cancer. Cause you know, "it's honest work".
Like people needed validation from Sup Forums of all places.

I know it's an anonymous imageboard, but jesus christ, my dudes, can you contain your verbal diarrhea at least a tiny bit?

Yeah, overall creators are going to get more money, but the people supporting them are going to have to pay more.

Get a job.

This whole thread, holy shit. What did YouTubers do to you user? Where did they touch you? Tell me, it's ok. Tell me where you get these false feelings of snobbish grandeur as if your anonymous opinions mattered or something.

I hope these people will be forced to learn videoblogging on the internet is not a valid career choice.
The ruder the awakening the better.

And literally none of those deserve patreon

kek

>implying Sup Forums isn't full of people who aren't neets
>implying patreon users arent neet

>Shitposting

How about you don't, though?

I love stuff like this and the YouTube policy change. These people are going to be forced into the real world with no marketable skills, unless they're actually really good at video editing.
Full-time streamers/ecelebs are entitled manbabies with poor foresight.

Which means creators get less money because people will stop paying if there's suddenly a 35% price increase out of nowhere.

>THEY'RE GOING TO GET LESS MONEY IF PEOPLE STOP GIVING THEM MONEY
yeah no shit sherlock

hmm

I'm being serious.

Do you even know what patreon is? It's just an easy donation button and you trying to say that people shouldn't be allowed to give money to people they like is absurd.

>supporting philosophers who don't live in barrels
dont be a faggot user

YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD MAKE QUICK BUCK

>worthy patreons

Sup Forums hates Youtubers because they make money doing nothing but sitting around and playing video games while they're neckbeard NEETs living with their parents still with no income aside from Birthdays.

>Real world
Yeah, because being a stockroom worker in a shitty Winn-Dixie where no one cares or even appreciates all the hard work you put in on a day to day basis is a real fucking commendable talent.

Should "youtube animator" really be a paying job? People used to just make stuff for fun.

Good luck competing with teenagers who do it for free and are better at it than you.

This guy has a company already that sells his pseudo shit. Why would he need a patreon?

I'm saying that they don't deserve donations, asswagon

back to plebbit

I don't get it. Of course content creators are getting more money because more money is going in per donation. Less people will donate now so it's less for everyone lel.

ahahaha, you could've just said from the get go that you have a degree from some liberal arts school
you cannot dispute that any of that entertainment shit you listed has no place now
it was all products of its time, when you never knew if you would make it to the end of a week or die to the plague by then or some shit
>art
>music
>books
>movies
>video games
none of these have an objective place in society and all the workforce we waste producing them could be repurposed to much more fruitful avenues
"foundation of modern society" my ass

Why aren't you on the eceleb gravy train Sup Forums? It should be easy right?

GET A REAL JOB

because he gets sued constantly for telling nufeminist SJWs which way the shit trickles

And this is a bad thing how?

content creators can have a negative impact on video games and video game communities due to their outsized voice and frequently terrible opinions

PAY FOR MY WIFE'S BULL SESSIONS

twitter.com/cwbuecheler/status/938787629738397696

nice strawman you have there, faggo

I get paid $37/hr for 40hrs/week to write software and shitpost on Sup Forums. I 'm laughing to myself about a FB friend who still living with mommy trying to make his YouTube career take off. But, go ahead, tell me how much my life sucks.

People are going to be pissed that more than the amount they're pledging is getting charged.

gotta have a modicrum of charisma

I remember when youtube videos were made out of passion, not for monetary gain. I applaud patreon for doing the right thing.

>reddit: the post

>People used to just make stuff for fun.
Are you fucking retarded?
Why do you think people stopped making animations?

I can't risk paying for viewbots and still failing

>Tell me where you get these false feelings of snobbish grandeur as if your anonymous opinions mattered or something.
FROM YOU, ALRIGHT? I LEARNED IT FROM WATCHING YOU!

t-too good for it

People gotta fucking live, man. You people act like the world should have never changed from 50-80 years ago where you got drafted into the Military because fuck you the government said so and you should be appreciative of having your freedom taken away from you.

Please tell me what society would be like without art then you dumb faggot. You're literally underage and have no idea how art plays a part in just about everything we look at. You literally wouldn't even have a house if an artist didn't design it for you.
