This is my first Souls game (Also played Bloodborne but didn't get very far) and I fucking suck at it.
How in the fuck can I farm for souls in this area? I'm Lv50 but I feel underleveled. Yes I'm maxing out my HP bar before even leveling up other stats because it helps me not to die in two hits, yes I am aware that I'm a fucking retard.
>lol juss git gud fag
I'm trying, you goddamn cunts.

Level up your weapon. Boom, good to go. It's one of the most important things. Really all you need.
Levels don't matter very much focus more on upgrading your weapons. Also magic and daggers suck so find a better weapon.
>sucking
>at ds3, the easiest most casualized one
oh user....
Drop sorcery altogether, if you've no str or dex infuse your weapon with fire or something.
Damage matters more fyi for future reference. Much much more in almost all souls games. You don't have to go through a 5 min gauntlet of perfect dodges if you can bloodletter and smash a boss down in 30 seconds.
I don't know about you but Dark Souls 3 is the hardest game in the series for me
I can casually waltz through all the other 4 games without any issues but some of the later game DS3 bosses still manage to trip me up.
>Im maxing out my HP
what do you mean by that? are you going for 99 vig or what?
don't max your vigor
don't use a mail breaker, straight swords are the easiest weapon to use
upgrade your weapon with titanite shards you've found
don't bother with sorcery
this
That's funny because I died maybe 10-15 times no summons on the entirety of Dark Souls 3, getting Nameless King in two tries while ludwig in BB took me 40-50 tries. I don't do crazy damage strats either.
Not him but it's definitely the easiest strength build run in the series. Especially since stamina regen is fast, I can heal in front of bosses before they can hit me, fast rolling from the beginning, everything dies in one hit from Exiled Greatsword, +3 rings, etc
>i dont know about you
more like everyone, because everyone thinks ds3 is the easiest on Sup Forums. Or most atleast
ds3 is spam roll the game
Now do 40 Str, 40 Dex, 20-30ish End, grab a sword and start swinging.
After you have better game knowledge, then try magic.
>ds3 is casualized
le what
it's a step back from ds2 in a lot of ways but still far more difficult than ds1
How do I level up my weapon?
>Drop sorcery altogether
Lol no I'm a fucking retard without long range attacks
It's an autistic thing I do in most games, I like big HP bars/digits
I have about 5 titanite shards, I just don't know where to use them
What part of "first souls game" do you not understand
is this the latest death stranding footage with norman?
Maxing stats in soulsbourne games is literally pointless. The amount of stat increase you get goes down with each level so by the time you hit 30-40 in each stat you are far better off raising something else. 40 vigor is more than enough for completing the story.
A lot of the difficulty has to do with weapon and build choice. I know a lot of people went into 3 building quality and picking the knight, and if you used a longsword the game was pretty much smooth sailing the whole way through.
But it's no where near as silly things like just plowing through the whole game with a zaphander in 1.
Le see
Made me exhale through my nose
Talk to the blacksmith at firelink shrine.
You're right, you're retarded.
Go to Firelink. THE FUCKING SMITH THERE WHO SAID HE CAN UPGRADE YOUR WEAPONS, CAN UPGRADE YOUR WEAPONS.
you'd benefit from finding a strategy guide
Made me laugh
>Meme breaker
>magic on your first run
Jesus
talk to the blacksmith dude at firelink
hes down the corridor from the bonfire there, banging away at an anvil.
>What part of "first souls game" do you not understand
I have four friends who started with 3. They had trouble similar to mine and I started with Demon's.
The one who had the most problems was the one who chose to main Sorcery.
infuse your weapon with raw if you're gonna max vigor early.
and take all that shit off your tool belt.
>But it's no where near as silly things like just plowing through the whole game with a zaphander in 1.
Exiled Greatsword is gotten early and I consider using it cheesing
why does it look like super bunnyhop with shaggy hair?
I guess. There are plenty of good weapons, and most of them you get even earlier than that.
lurk the /dsg/ on /vg/
Pyromancy will beat out Sorcery about 80 percent of the time. You're much better off investing in pyromancy instead of a staff. With a higeher HP count, you can afford to make mistake, but that much should suffice for now. Just pump points into Str or Dex until you can equip a weapon that you like. There's no boss that will be so hard that you cannot beat it just be bruteforcing it.
>Generals
>"lol today I had some soup it was good how are you doing guys"
>"im great good to see you again [insert retarded trip name]"
No thanks.
DS3 melee is the easiest, but the magic is actually fucking trash.
You have to do the same fucking cookie cutter sorc build that doesn't even reach optimal damage until like the last fucking level of the game. You have to split your estus early too. Sorcery was such a fucking afterthought in this game that it launched with a way to spook+invis the entire game and the soul transpose boss doesn't even allow lock own.
If you actually want to be that autistic over ranged attacks, just go pyromancy. You get cooler shit than Sorc in the DLCs too.
>I visited a general for a dead game and now I refuse to do again, so ill just beg for advice on

>Maxing out hp to prevent death
>Cant kill anything so all that hp is worthless
Gee I wonder why you are having issues, you are also using magic, magic is trash for progression.
If you are going to use a shitty dagger with no stats might as well make it raw so it can do.....something.
Its been awhile but if you go back and kill those dark wraiths before the catacombs would be the best soul grind nearby.
Anyone else like the Dark Souls series not for its difficulty, but for its exploration/level design and game play? People often use Dark Souls as an example of a difficult game but they miss why the series is so popular.
>tfw INT/DEX build with crystal sage's rapier and a simple great scythe as alternating right hand equips was the most fun i've had with a souls game
Well shit. Where do I find large Titanite shards?
I always enjoyed the fleshed out areas. Love games like Dark Souls and DE:HR for that reason. Discard open world and you get a size that devs can actually work with and make detailed all the way through.
The world and exploration are what make them good. It helps that decent gameplay backs it up.
Coming back to finally play DS3, I realise I've become a total casul.
>upgraded the mail breaker instead of getting rid of magic
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>that stamina
you know what? fuck you, you deserve to be stuck there
In part I play like this because the reactions of people here make me laugh
>hurr play liek dis to spite peepl
>halp can't do shiet this game
Summon for help or help others. It's fun sometimes and you'll get some money and knowledge of the level in the process
It's been a long time since I had contact with another human being, simple stuff makes me laugh now.
That's what I've been doing to get souls, I never play this game by myself.
You're almost halfway through the base game, things are gonna get a lot harder if you have a sub optimal build. Thankfully you can go to an NPC named Rosaria and get 5 max build resets to reallocate points if you want to switch up builds. It costs 1 pale tongue which is easy enough to get through pvp or you can farm some pve monsters for a chance at getting some. Dark Souls 3 is pretty fun and don't be discouraged if you fail a lot, it's part of the learning experience.

>I'm going to start playing this series
>with the last game in the series
what is this mentality and why is it so widespread
i won't even say you should start with demon's souls but at least ds1, fuck
I skipped last generation because poorfag, I can't play Demons Souls and Dark Souls 1. At the time I didn't know DS2 was also on PS4.
No I won't "just get a Pee Cee for half the price my PS4 costed". Fuck you.
If I were you I would start investing points into Faith so you can use Pyromancy. (Make your Fa the same as your Int). It's much better and more damaging than sorcery and has better utility spells. Also, upgrade your main weapon as much as you can asap.
I don't want to drop sorcery, also I need Large Titanites to upgrade my weapon.
he went for sorcery no wonder hes having a hard time. Probably balanced his int and dex too the poor fool
You really don't want to use that weapon. It's not just sub-optimal, it's downright atrocious. You'd be better off with almost anything else. If you're out of small titanite shards to upgrade another weapon, there's some ashes you can get back in Farron Keep that'll let you buy as many as you need from the shrine handmaiden.
You don't have to drop Sorcery but godammit choose another weapon
I also have this ice one but I can't use it. The small one is the only one I can use at my current level.
>lv50
>catacombs
>underleveled
fucking lol mate git gud I beat the game at 65
Yeah but I'm not good at it
I'm guessing you have the stock 7 strength and 12 dex from the sorceror class? You can use the rapier with those stats, it'll at least have better range than the mail breaker. If you got one more point in strength you could use a shortsword, or one more point in dex to use the scimitar. Three points in strength would let you use the broadsword or longsword. Since you already made it to Catacombs, you probably missed out on the Dark Hand, but for future reference it's basically the best no-investment weapon around.
I'm farming souls to level up my strength so I can use that thing but it takes too long
>mfd.png
>myfaggotdog
Just go for a Raw-infused Longsword or Broadsword instead. More damage at lower stat requirements. There's a crystal lizard at High Wall that'll drop a Raw gem if you don't have one. The broadsword can also be found at High Wall, a longsword can be dropped from enemies there or bought from Greirat. Once you have enough souls for one level, get that one point in strength and switch to the shortsword. Even unupgraded it'll probably be far more effective than your mail breaker.
I'll try. I grew attached to the mail breaker though.
Does the lizard appear again? I remember it gave me like 5000 souls when I killed it.
Not the big mean one in Cemetary of Ash, but a little harmless lizard at High Wall that just runs away from you and disappears if you let it get away. They aren't worth any souls and can only be killed once each, but they always drop upgrade materials so it's worthwhile to go after them whenever you see one. If it disappears, you can quit and reload the game right at its spawn point and kill it before it even has a chance to move.
What is the name of the bonfire I need to go to?
Tower on the Wall, go down two floors from the bonfire and the lizard is out on the rooftops by the Pus of Man.
You don't drop sorcery. You get access to your sorceries, AND miracles, AND pyromancies. If you're going to be a caster, it's honestly the best way to go. You don't have to invest that much either. You can do 20 or 30 points in your Int and Faith and still have plenty of points to invest elsewhere.
OP post your character's stats.
Hold on a sec
You have more goddamn HP than my mega beef retard tank character who has 99vit 60str. Get some goddamn damage stats man.
Just start over. Don't summon unless you have to as it trivializes the game for the most part. Leveling isn't going to help you brute force the game either. You will have to just git gud.
Here they are, feel free to tell me I'm a retard.
>that name
>those stats
I get it. This is a joke thread isn't it? OP's been trolling us all, hasn't he?
no u
I can't think of any legitimate reason to ever go over 20-30 vigor on a "finished" character, let alone put points into that at the start. It's all completely wasted levels. Also your beloved mail breaker is fucking useless because you haven't leveled dex. Scaling is super important in souls games. Though IIRC mail breaker just sucks in general. And 18 int means your sorcery also does fuck all damage. And no FP due to shit attunement.
kek
do you even know what your stats do?
fucking christ everything about this makes me want to blow my brains out
I got a shortsword, way slower than the mail breaker though. I don't really like it.
Negative
kek
well it's your first playthrough so do whatever the fuck you want. But when things get hard, respec and get stats that improve your damage and give you more attunement slots/fp
Please just kill yourself for the love of god
>this is the modern dark souls playerbase
>But when things get hard
Nigga they're already hard
Did I hurt your feelings, user?
You can press a button to get an explanation of nearly every single part of your stats screen. As mentioned at the bottom of the screen.
There's a lot of goddamn weapons in the game and early on you won't have resources to upgrade them very far. You should have access to a shitload of weapons at the point you are at though. Just try them out, see how they feel. Short sword is also not a weapon I would consider to bother using long term. But its probably better than the mail breaker (unless you pump dex as short sword isn't a dex weapon as much).
But if you want to go magic you probably wont ever do good melee damage since being a viable mage means dumping a lot of points into Int and Attunement (IIRC back near launch most spells didn't scale amazingly well compared to weapons until you were 60+ int). And that 50+ vig is completely wasted, as ideally you want to learn to DODGE. Which means points in endurance for stamina to dodge more (though less important in DaS3). And possibly vitality for more equip load so you can always at least medium roll. Fat rolling (at 70% or above equip load I think) is practially suicide.
user, just do a no hit SL1 run. dont be a faggot.
Damn, every time I dodge I get hit and my character goes full autismo for half a second and that's when everyone hits me and I die.
I have no idea what that is.
>Damn, every time I dodge I get hit and my character goes full autismo for half a second and that's when everyone hits me and I die.
Then you aren't dodging right. DaS3 is pretty nice with it's invincibilty frames, so if you get hit when dodging, you either dodged too early or too late.
>I have no idea what that is.
He means try to beat the game at level 1 (which means taking the barbarian type class a the start and never leveling at all) without getting hit a single time. Ever.
That's pretty hardcore, I'm pretty sure I would throw my controller.
Well yeah. It has been done before, but it's not really meant to be possible. Not like FROM is really good at actually balancing shit. I swear this entire series is an accident they have no idea how they pulled off.
But either way your character is kinda fucked due to a lot of wasted souls, may as well start over. You aren't far in anyway.
fug :DDDDDD
