Somehow, I didn't notice he was black till someone mentioned it.
Doesn't seem very black to me. Then again, a few of the guys in this thread don't seem very black. Maybe that makes them easier to like.

When you first run into him, if you have enough WIS, you get a memory of Vhailor when he was alive, which is described as a "powerful, ebony-skinned man".

Cole train is my favorite black vidya character, besides sgt. Johnson.
I liked Pierce in SR2, but I wouldn't call him based. More like affable.
Heller killed the Prototype series
Cool dude, prepared but still with some crazy vibes. It was so weird that even he's like "oh well lmao idk just take her home!"
Truly based. I couldn't believe he was the one pulling the strings behind Mr. House and programmed Victor to help you

And that's the hallmark of a good character, when the color of their skin is irrelevant. The problem is you can't have a black character be interesting and engaging while also pushing a certain agenda. Because anti-racism narratives have been beat to death and progressive politics are not interesting. Same thing with females, you can't have a Grrl Power! narrative and be interesting; mostly because vidya is not a good medium for drama. Race and gender can only be cosmetic features in a solid story or steal the spotlight in a dull one.
