What's the point of a rich world with an interesting story if the gameplay feels tedious?
For real. Witcher 2 draws you into the scale of battle but this is just snoozefest after 5 hours. It's very pretty but it's not very fun.
are you me? I have started it 4 times now and stopped within the first 3-4 hours. I don't know why I can't get into it because I love the genre.
This game was the biggest example of good story doesn't make a fun game. Fun game is still fun even if story is shit
I was hyped for this gamed then played at a friend's house and the controls felt so weird and repetitive.
DA:I had the same same issue + the world being empty
OP here. I've started about same amount of times and after the Griffin tutorial thing I always just lose interest or get bored. Don't know if I'm just depressed or what but I'm seeing a pattern
i was so bummed when i couldn't really get into it, because it's so unbelievably comfy. It has good writing and a decent story, what went wrong?
Gameplay isn't good
Fucking same. I think it just goes to show that even a good story isn't enough. You need good gameplay
Skyrim for me.
The controls to me feels so shitty. Moving around especially on horse. Geralt also sounds bored as fuck. Nothing about his voice acting is good.
Can't tell if game is really boring or anons are just depressed. Probably the latter desu.
payday 2
Meh
>not switching the audio to polish
ya fucked up
>Geralt also sounds bored as fuck. Nothing about his voice acting is good.
See I thought the same there. It actually pissed me off how he's supposed to be this man's man yet he's tossing out these passive aggressive "im so quirky" remarks every time. He came across as a very sassy bitch to me the very first time around, I got up to a certain point then just sold the game. Let me tell you that was the worst mistake I made. I eventually got the game again and honestly its one of the best RPG's I've ever played. It takes until you finish the game to really appreciate the game for what it is. I'd say give it time, the game is very slow, it'll take you at least 40 hours to finish.

>Geralt also sounds bored as fuck. Nothing about his voice acting is good.
THANK YOU. Jesus fuck idk what people see in this dude but he's got all the personality of a piece of wood. The dude is so dull and boring that I get bored hearing him. The other voice actors sound way better and more lively.
I'm trying my best to get into divinity original sin 2. But i bloody hate leveled loot in this kind rpg's. With mix the leveling system i can't roleplay. Since i need to make chooses that give exp. Because if you don't you can't progress because everyone would be to strong. And there is also a big disconnection between combat outside of it. Like outside of combat they don't you're a undead but inside they magically know it, because they use healing spells on Fane.
What point does the game get good I guess? Is it a slow burn type of game?
Shit was boring as fuck.
Played this whole game, but I still don't understand what the big deal is about it. I can honestly say there was nothing bad about it, but there wasn't much great either. I mean is that the qualifier for good game now, doesn't have to do anything great just don't do anything bad?

According to the lore he has his emotions suppressed via mutagens and even mentions being trained in minimalism. In fact I think it breaks canon for him to do anything nice for anyone other than those extremely important to him, or for cash. I haven't read the books though so maybe he is a pretty nice guy.
You just have to enjoy the ride. Apparently polish voice acting is better if you want to try that, and you should be playing on Broken Bones or whatever, second highest difficulty. I have found a lot of the quests to be entertaining and memorable, but there's a few pointless things. Learning about the lore and beasts, questing, using bombs oils and potions, Gwent, there's a lot of fun to be had if you can get into it. I've played Witcher 2 but not the first, but having some idea of the lore helps immensely.
same.
I stopped playing after the underground elves dwelling level.
Exactly. The mechanics and gameplay are extremely weak for a game like this.
The story quests seem to be by far and away the best the game has to offer, you should be able to get through it with minimal other questing I would assume. Velen's main quests were really good in my opinion, Novigrad's are a lot slower and a little less interesting, but still good.
just play it
What exactly is so shallow about it? On Blood and Broken Bones enemies hit fairly hard in groups and you have to utilize signs and other items to handle them all. Monsters are strong that require different signs/bombs/tactics to defeat, oils and potions are used to enhance combat and potions are incorporated in some quests. Do you just not like the combat at all?
Depression
You just have garbage taste.
damn this sucks I'll go kms now
Why don't you just play the game the way you want instead of worrying about the dumb stats?
Honestly the game gets so fucking broken at the end you might as well pick whatever you want; Source power is so ridiculous the game goes from brutal tactics to win-buttons.
Witcher 3 is just an average crpg with good graphics and no character creator that blew up with normalfags. Imagine playing only bethesda games your whole life then something like witcher 3 comes out. Its like they played 20 years of lincoln logs, then suddenly got megablocks whithout even knowing legos exist at all.

its just so bland, help me Sup Forums
I have a hard time getting into the first one
It was hard for me to get into too, I find if you stop doing some of the main quest and just try to clear out those points of interest it gets better
If you've never played Fallout 1/2 before it might be quite difficult to get into it just because of how old it is.
If you manage to get past the controls and the graphics, you'll have a blast.
when you reach the bloody baron
To me I found doing the tutorial makes it so dull. Finding things out by yourself makes the game interesting
i found fallout easy to get into compared to other old crpgs
Fire Emblem series.
I started with burning blaze.
...
...
Youve just described 99% of the games
>Buy TW3
>Stop at the Baron's questline and trade it in
>Buy it again because I had a feeling I'd like it if I got further
>Pass that tedious and ugly area and start liking it
Anyone else?
I had a friend who quit the game because he couldn't figure out how to heal
This same guy was telling me about how much he loves The Witcher franchise prior to W3's release, after
good for you
What games have you tried playing? try babby's frist FE, blazing blade, retard's first FE, Awakening or Autists first FE, Path of Radiance.
Stop with this shit meme. Tell me the gameplay that draws you in immediately. This isnt some wombo combo game. Light heavy dodge and signs. Thats more than skyrim, fallout 4,nier,botw,dark souls etc etc
Try to come back in a few years and you might love it.
That's what happened to me anyways.
That'
Deus Ex and Mario 64. I like everything about them except for actually playing them.
FUCK THIS GAME
It's not the depth, it's the mechanics. The mechanics of the Witcher 3s combat is clunky. So is movement (especially on horse.
And the water based combat is a joke.
Kill yourself
Geralt is canonically emotionally surpressed thanks to Witcher mutations. This is only broken a few times, and in The Witcher 3, this is the most emotional moment (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Wait so the reason you guys cant get into TW3 is because youre depressed? What the fuck does that have to do with the game itself? If im depressed,i wont go around saying some music or movie or something else is shit because i cant enjoy it.
You're legit just playing an interactive TV series that's better than TellTale's garbage. So, yeah. It takes time for you to actually get into it.
idk man after playing and completing DS1, DS3, and BB, this game is super hard to get into. Does it really get better?
How is it clunky? Yes the horse is shit, but the combat feels right. Stop playing on a fucking touchpad
This. I can get into shit like Elex but not The Witcher.
I was literally just playing this. It's like a better version of hearthstone and it's not even pay to win
The entire Diablo clone loot clicking genre. I don't know how I finished Diablo 1 and 2 but now those kinds of games literally put me to sleep within an hour.
Youre talking to the people who only made it to the griffin. They havent even tried the proper combat. I think the combat is great, especially if you against a monster thats like 5 levels above you. Then you get the dark souls feel
I found the world and characters, rather than the combat and gameplay, to be the worst part about The Witcher. It's just not compelling for me.
no
no
Yes. Now fuck off
Fuck off
Shhhh. Youll get that griffin eventually :^)
I dont know how you can either of them boring, but ok,not your cup of tea.
Why do people say the gameplay is bad?
Yes it does. Ive found dark souls only fun after ive started ng+
i can get into it for a few hours before i realize how shitty the combat really is.
the graphics, world design and quests distract me from seeing this. until i do and i just save and quit.
it's a solid 8.5/10
Besides the DLC, it actually gets worse.
True. Ds2 is pretty bad
I have no idea what i am supposed to do.
Because the exploration is taken away from you due to meaningless map markers, and what is marked rarely has any depth.
Because the combat is neither complex or compelling.
Anything AD&D based. I really want to get into games like Baldurs Gate and Planescape: Torment, but I'm too lazy to learn the rules and I keep getting my ass kicked because I don't know the system.
>the entire witcher series
>terraria
>stardew valley
>dark souls 2
I can't get into any of these, I tried really hard with witcher 3 but dropped it around the part where you're trying to gather support to kill the elf dude.
Is this what it feels like to have contrarian taste?
I have trouble getting into most popular games. I've never really enjoyed RPGs, which some people love. Most shooters I don't like because you can play one and you've played them all.
Nah. If the game isnt for you, then theres no point in forcing it. Contrarian would be if you enjoyed any of the games, but shat on them anyway just because theyre popular.
The Witcher 3 and Skyrim. Maybe it had to do with everyone I knew playing either game and talking about it non stop. Granted, not their fault, but I just couldn't get into either.
I never play city builders, but I wanted to get into this one after seeing the universal praise. I don't get it, I feel truly lost. How the fuck do you play this? I feel like every single thing I put down is wrong, I know I'm just shit at the game but I genuinely can't wrap my head around how to do stuff right.
Touissant is kino as fuck though
Yeah, you transfered your hate of the hype onto the game itself. I did the same with nier and fallout 4. Except these 2 actually suck lol
mgsv
bloodborne
killzone
titanfall2
ive kept the first two in hopes of maybe one day caring enough to play them properly
I bought MGSV at launch and ignored it until last week. I'm been really enjoying it.
i just don't get what's so great about it.
winning strategy against 99% enemies is circling behind them and backstab
most bosses are just oversized damage sponges
magic and archery is just shit
is it oversized anime swords or dark and edgy doom gloom atmosphere or what?
I really want to get into it too, there's something i really like about it but I'd rather play something else
any of the mario shit
the game feels like a dumbed down arma copy.
they should have remade tonic's wasteland instead
30€ down the toilet
Check it out again on 20th when the 1.00 patch gets released. Might change your thought
pretty much this, can't do fuck all cause of the starting roads position, enormous areas you just have to keep building the same shit over and over in with no rewards.
I bought Witcher 3 a couple of weeks ago and returned it almost immediately. The game was literally unplayable.
Casuals in this thread are why we'll never get anything good.
No wonder we end up with generic 2D beat em up platformer for the 48492892th time.
its a semi challenging slow paced game with nice atmosphere. the combat is slow and shit, but thats not the appeal i think
for most newfags, the appeal is in how hardcoreeeee it is because theyve played nothing but cod and csgo prior
