This is the truth, and if you disagree, there are 100,000 of my bros saying you're wrong
Popularity vs skill
Other urls found in this thread:
I'd put league right above cs go, and move dota back a bit because of a bunch of stuff (toxic, no skillshots, bad movement, etc), but other than that it looks perfect.
OW needs to be in its own category of skill.
It requires skill if you play McCree/Widow but no one else.
You are wrong. The more popular a game is the worse the average player is making it easier for slightly better players to win. Why do you think wars have so many deaths?
t. team fortress player
Do you know what board you're on?
Feel free to fuck off back to r/gaming
Look I'm going to sum it up and make it easy for you, you fucking idiot.
If you're a good fps player, you get a career in CSGO.
If you're among the best players, you play the hardest game with the most money: Overwatch.
It's a cycle, attracting better players, more talent, stiffer competition, and more money.
Got that through your thick fucking skull?
...
>play quake 3 for 5 years
>still cannot compete in duels
>play team fortress 2 6s for 1 year
>not the best but still in upper 1000 players based on stat trackers
The fact of the matter is Quake has existed longer and the meta therefore has been evolving for longer, overwatch cannot possibly take more skill than even team fortress 2 let alone quake 3
Lol @ salty kiddies mad at overwatch's success
Probably couldn't get any higher than silver then quit
>LoL above Dota 2
>Overwatch above both of them
Reminder that this is a shitty bait image and nobody should be replying seriously
>dota2
No one plays that trash
Noone cares about your old-ass game, I was being pretty fucking generous with it being as far right as it is, I honestly had to google the damn thing to figure out what kind of fossil I was looking at.
I made that image you moron.
As for placement, League is a great game but let's be honest its getting old.
I'm not going to talk about dota and its 20 year old shitty game design.
But claiming overwatch is anything other than THE #1 most competitive game scene right now is sticking your head in the sand.
Google sinatraa, he's 16 years old and makes more money playing overwatch than you ever will.
If you can, try to wrap your brain around the fact that there are south koreans who live and constantly train together in gamer houses for double digit hours each day, and they're not even top five in the world.
The best fps players on this fucking planet are all overwatch players, and that's a fact.
>shilling this hard
Accept it, your shit game is dying and even assfaggots require higher skill to play.
holy shit this isint b8
...
>cuckerwatch requiring skill
lmao
>I made that image you moron.
I didn't say it's an old bait image, said it's a bait image.
Try harder next time, subtlety is your friend.
all you moronic faggots actually replying to this shit. fuck me
>best fps players
>overwatch
pick one retard
muh last hit
muh courier
muh jungle
muh lane
>Overwatch
>hard
That's a pretty shit opinion there my guy.
Imagine actually being THIS fucking assblasted that a genre you don't like requires skill
he's right you know
It's not an opinion, it's the truth, im sorry you just can't accept it.
Only thing that's gonna be accepted here is thay you're a fucking mongoloid
Okay I'll break it down for you because you apparently are too dumb to get it otherwise
Overwatch isn't just a world-class highly polished first person shooter, it has
A. Teams, which require tons of forethought in picking as well as coordination, both things present in cs:go and league, and notably absent from your shitty devolved "arena shooters"
b. Abilities, which require you to have impeccably refined judgement about when to unleash, not to mention the difference in power from normal abilities to ultimates. If you'd ever seen a competitive well timed ult, you might see the skill involved. These are a huge component of skill, and one of the reasons league is as popular as it is, though it still isn't as good as overwatch
C as the most popular first person shooter, with over 25 MILLION users, it has the ability to pull from a huge skill pool exceeding any other game
It is the hottest thing around right now, and people live and breathe this game.
Pros will dedicate hours and hours every single day to honing their abilities and becoming THE BEST players they possibly can, with some putting in 8+ hours a day, but their not even in the top 5.
There are a select few putting in more time than anyone else, and it shows.
All this is a continual cycle that pulls the best people in playing the best game, with the most amount of players, and the most money, and it's only
getting
better
So go on, call bait, your shitty game or whatever is getting left in the dust.
and so are you
youtu.be
quake 4 is better than overwatch
>Overwatch
>hard or relevant
lol
None of what you see in top left require anything other than perfunctory levels of "skill". Hell, even Overwatch has curbed any display of skill in favor of team coordination. And team coordination has no basis on how difficult a game is and certainly not what constitutes a skill ceiling.
>has overwatch images that he replies with
Holy shit dude, you're the ultimate shill.
this is some good bait
>relying on teammates and quantity to get things done instead of winning solo
>relying on pre-made actions to do things for you instead of forming your own tactics
>relying on being matched with the shitters that 90% of the playerbase is composed of to win games
wow you really convinced me
>impeccably refined judgement
This. Overwatch has the best players in the world, right now. And pretty much all the greatest FPS players on the planet are playing overwatch. Unforunately, that's a cold, hard fact.
Nice samefag. The number of "pro" CS players outnumber OW by a large margin. And it's not even because of the game's infancy. It's just because it's such a piss-poor competitive game.
None of those CS players are close to being among the best in the world. Sure, there's more of them, but Overwatch has quality over quantity.
looks like I was wrong, overwatch doesn't have 25 million
it has OVER 35 MILLION and counting
>blizz doesn't release official numbers
i can claim that my indieshit game has 50 million and counting and you can't say otherwise
>samefag
Another fortunate side effect of overwatch's massive player base is that we're not limited to talking to ourself in a mirror about how great whatever antiquated calculator game from 20 years ago you like is.
it's time to realize, that the entire "esports" charade is just a very clever advertising campaign
global matchmaking is cancer
dedicated servers with their own tight communities were the shit. Sadly, it's all over now.
>there are actually teenage shitbirds out there playing league, overwatch and cs:go who only know enough about Q3 to talk shit about it
Shut up, Jeff.
Most of those games should be crowded down in the lower left corner while Q3 is at the extreme upper right.
Fucking kids thinking any of their new esports BS games are in any way skillful. I'd love to see you all struggle with someone even somewhat skilled at Q3 with your pathetic HURR IM A TERRIST Countersuck "skills".
Only since SC2, before then people played games competitively because they loved the game, now developers make games with the intent of making esports bux and end up making shit games instead
user, there's nothing wrong with liking an easy game! :^)
lol like being old makes you good at video games grandpa
If q3 or whatever the fuck is so great, why does no one play it?
Do people all of a sudden not play good games?
Maybe they only play bad multiplayer, because singleplayer games are better than ever.
Again, I can't believe I have to explain this so many times to you doddering old people.
With regards to cs:go (kindof) and Overwatch
Name another FPS title in which people are being paid $150,000+ a year to COMPETE. There's literally no other game where the stakes are this high (except for mobas, but those don't count because you can use dollar store mice and still be successful)
I don't care if you don't like those games (I don't play them anymore either, but not because I'm bad, which I assume is the reason you avoid them). You can't try to claim they they're not competitive; they are THE two most competitive FPS titles that exist currently (though PUBG will soon be up there as well)
google "sinatraa", the 16 year old kid getting a $150,000 salary to play Overwatch competitively
look up broadcasts of OGN tournaments showcasing sweaty South Koreans playing televised competitive matches of OW
try to understand that there are pro teams of people living in gamer houses who practice Overwatch in scrims for 8+ hours a day and still aren't even top5 in the world
if that doesn't meet your threshold for "competitive" then I'd really like to hear a carefully articulated explanation for why you think so beyond just greentexting the words "overwatch" and "competitive"
The best fps players in the world are all playing overwatch right now there's no denying it.
...
>implying "m-muh [game mechanic]" is an argument
>Overwatch has quality over quantity
>Overwatch has a lot of players
>Overwatch is better than what you played 50 years ago
Yeah, this is an elaborate troll since the best players in OW are not exclusive to OW. They've played Quake competitively. They've played TF2 (the better game in all aspects, btw). They've played CS in some form. Just because they rose to the top of a curdled puddle of shit doesn't mean they are on the same level as players in games where mechanical skill is tantamount and isn't decided by comboing Q's into a blob allowing for zero counterplay.
Get fucked.
>implying meme charts are an argument
this entire thread is bait
this is good, keep going
>OW
>skill of any kind
lol
what a low quality bait
league is literally the dota tutorial
>Jeff Kaplan samefagging his own posts pokebarneyfag style
Is there anything sadder?
>reddit spacing
hmmm
lol are you even listening to yourself?
>The best players ditched some other shitty games for overwatch
>b-b-b-but it's not the highest skilled game or anything
35 million people on my side bro
...
>tfw posting arguments defending overwatch
>tfw also posting arguments against overwatch
>If q3 or whatever the fuck is so great, why does no one play it?
Not an argument. People don't play hard games because of just that: they have a barrier for entry that isn't surmounted in a day.
Brood War. Q3. SFIV. All of those games require an insane investment to be able to be considered good, let alone professional. Now in Overwatch you can be boosted to pro and the public eye by just being a loud cunt. Look at XQC: some faggot tank main in Masters who gets invited to their eSpurtzz tournament because he's a loud, obnoxious cunt and gives them free publicity.
Just because they play a game that everybody is willing to watch has no correlation between a game that demands skill. You're talking out of your ass now bro.
>be skilled player
>want money
>want easy money
>play Overwatch competitively
Overwatch is difficult
Not shilling the game but you should really stop talking about things you don't know about, makes you look retarded
But you are shilling your shitty team game. Fuck off idiot.
>Brood war. q3. SFIV
Completely irrelevant games, I haven't even heard of two of them, and I just asked some friends on discord and they didn't even know what q3 is
so much for having a large playerbase.......
>so much for having a large playerbase.......
Did you brain stop working? Nobody's talking about playerbase but you, it has nothing to do with depth or skill involved.
it's that today having an active esports scene with broadcasting and all the shit is the best way to advertise your game. Younger audience especially enjoys the idea of "getting rich playing videogames", they get hopes of becoming "pro", and some of them do so, while continuing the cycle. You could even say that everyone wins: game gets publicity through devs supporting the esports scene, players compete with each other and some of them get rich, but it leads to what you called "shit games", games that have nothing to them but esports, artificially created environments which uncoincidentally lead to the worst gaming communities that can ever exist, where people treat everyone like shitbags that "hold them back" on their path to glory.
It's just an absolute backwards way of designing a videogame, which focuses on getting your game popular by any means, rather than letting it become popular as a consequence of it being an actually good videogame.
I was one of those people "on your side", but after thd Junkrat buff I made a vow never to touch you piece of shit game again and I guaranfuckingtee you there are millions on the same boat who have moved on to PUBG or TF2. Your game is as fickle as Debbie Gibson, the Spice Girls or Limp Bizkit, and your artificial bribery-based esports scene is rapidly vanishing into the ether.
...
>lol is harder
>dota isn’t famous
>mfw lol copies dota compendium to gather funds after talking shit about
>mfw lol heroes are cheap copy pasta
Go back to your lane you soycuck faggot
So, by your logic, the Emojii Movie was good? I mean a lot of people saw it and it made money
What a shitty life you must live, being not able to read. Must come with being retarded.
Do you even have a brain?
did you even read the thread
I explained it 203984 posts ago
git gud
I googled that shit to appease you nursing home people, and why are you sitting around here being butthurt about a game as old as I am? How old are you now, don't you have anything better to do with your rapidly dwindling life?
league has millions every day, dota doesn't even have one
besides, good artists copy, great artists steal
-Steve Jobs
Look at where his company is, I'd like to see you be that smart and get so rich
fat fucking chance
>people talking about FPS as "hard"
>never played RTS or Fighting games
>Starcraft is easier than Overwatch
>CS1.6 is easier than CSGO
nani soreeee??
>people are legit trying to argue with this one retarded kid with low quality baits
>why are you sitting around here being butthurt about a game as old as I am
UNDERAGE LEAoh my god, people from 1999 are allowed to post on Sup Forums now, just fucking end me
I'm not convinced that this strategy you talk about is even working for Blizzard. If you got a shit game that can't live on its own, eventually they're going to start losing a lot of money trying to artificially prop it up.
Wouldn't that be great? Just off yourself man
like really
its so easy to get people up in arms on the topic of skill/validity for competitive games here, its insane.
>Do you even have a brain?
>did you even read the thread
>I explained it 203984 posts ago
I don't care what you said earlier in the thread, popularity has nothing to do with skill required and this isn't an argument.
If you're going to talk about skill ceiling, actually talk about skill ceiling.
Fuck off
well guess why the "OP" started this thread
blizzard is getting JUSTed
It's a good thing hardness isn't goodness.
Report thread, hide thread, move on. This is just bait from some 80 iq dudebro.
Your thread is shit, don't post again
Not until this site kicks the bucket, kid
I don't really care. I just dink around for fun as Junkrat because I really enjoy his trap and annoyance factor. People say he's OP now but I'd still main him if he got nerfed cause I have that much fun with him. I don't pretend to be skilled. I bought Overwatch cause it didn't seem all that serious and the characters seemed to all have unique mechanics.
I do wish teams tried to work together. One can only do so much even if you change characters trying to salvage the train wreck.
Progress hurts, deal with it
I'd like to see you make some arguments, or are you not capable of rational thought?
Ignore my point all you want, it doesn't make it any less true.
t. valveshills
overwatch is a dead game, 10 min to find a match. fuck off
i love fighting games and am quite good at street fighter iii but find fps and rts really hard specially because of mouse, and aiming in fps is just really hard
It's like as though you are a masochist old man. You really do like getting fisted up the butthole don't you
imagine being so retarded that you start making posts like this: thanks god im not retarded
Oh kid, is that projection I see?
>Ignore my point all you want, it doesn't make it any less true.
What fucking point? Popularity and skill required are 100% unrelated concepts.
OP has probably already found a match since he's stopped responding
he'll be back in 5 minutes for the next queue
honestly it depends on what you're good at, yeah.
I find the mechanics in fighters to be really hard, but I don't have nearly as much problems with fps.
But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter, cause I'm pretty sure the mental game is way more important for both genres. especially 1v1 fps over team fps.
Lol I can see how you don't understand the relation, because you don't have either one.
hey OP
ur dumb LOLOLOL
Bait thread, bait charts, multiparagraph bait arguments. Move on.

Hey old man anyone who want to kill themselves because of this shitty forum but too pussy to do it obviously likes the fist up the bum. It's 2017!
man i wish i was good at fps, cs 1.6 and go are really popular in my country even normies are quite good at, hell along with dota cs is the only game all people play here ;_;
we used to had arcades in our town where people would play street fighter and kof hell even pedos would get good to fuck little kids and impress them, now its all dead ;_;
