Anyone ever raised a boomalope army to fend off raiders and other would be faggot attackers? I have 5, and I feel like it might be a good strategy to have suicide beasts to shitfuck everyone.

Theyre more valuable for chemfuel imo, but the idea of 5 kamikaze boomalopes is a fun one.

Got the game yesterday, it's pretty good.

The hunting option is pretty retarded, I set a turtle as a hunting target and my perfectly capable guy with decent shooting skill proceeds to stand as far as possible from target and shoot for a very long time.

I mean, it's a fucking turtle. You have a bolt-action rifle. Get close to it and land one good shot, jeez. Is this something fixable with mods or do I have to just draft and manually fight for hunting?

If you meant a pack of manhunters, you can assign your colonists to stay indoors until they leave. You werent doing well if you cant take a few animals down without casualities.

Not instantly but sooner or later. They spawn in caves and near player-built objects.

You can't, but you can cheese them with the developer mode if you really don't like them. Esc - Options - Enable developer mode, then just find the destroy command and get rid of them.

I dont know if I prefer 5 tribe people or 3 explorers, having no clothes to craft and no beds hurts, but pemmican is actually a godsend here.

How do you guys defent the base early-mid game.

I loathe making killboxes as they are gamey, but I always underestimate need for researchin and crafting weapons and making sandbags.

I would like your recomendations, what I usually do is chop all wood around the base and haul all stone to the stockpile. It's mandatory for me at least, but where I fail is when enemy comes ith Assault Rifles, helmets and armor.

No killboxes.

Also it's a bitch to deal with pirates when you are the tribe, when they come with guns. Atleast tou can loot them and be better armed next time.

But dwarf fortress isn't difficult.

Rimworld is harder than Dwarf Fortress difficulty wise, Dwarf Fortress is harder than Rimworld controlling wise.
If you know how to play Dwarf Fortress, it's easy fuck. Anyone can play Rimworld, but the game itself is difficult.
I know you don't play DF because people who play DF aren't fucking fags like you, they keep to themselves on /vg/.

To give to your colonists who don't have guns yet. A bow's better than nothing.

if you can get some bubble shields, they can do great work, to answer your second question, not they aren't worth researching because if you didn't start with guns you'll have them after your 2nd or 3rd raid

To prevent your shooty colonists from getting raped by bugs and generally to hold down tight hallways

Recurve bows maybe if you got a bunch of colonists and haven't found any better ranged weapons from raids, I generally just skip bows and try to get gunsmithing, after which everyone's getting a bolt-action.

JUST PLAY DWARF FORTRESS YOU FUCKS

DF is really stale to me ever since the invasion changes years ago. Most forts, even ones RIGHT NEXT TO A FUCKING GOBLIN SETTLEMENT go for literally years between absolutely pathetic raids. I could just embark on some evil biome but that's only interesting a few times, and there really aren't many different way to handle that biome.

Turned out really well for with those 2. dead colonists.

The kitchen is attached to the freezer, moving it over to the right though because it's blocking a geothermal vent and I'm going to make the move to geothermal power at some point. That's why I'm building to the right of the houses.

Saw earlier in the thread that you can put solar panels under wind turbines so gonna try doing that.

Thanks for pointing that block out, I'll have to fix that.

Currently got a Caravan returning from a stash that had a ressurecter serum there, also hauling the mechanoids that were waiting for me as an ambush. Pretty easy when u have 40+ Timber wolves.

I'm pretty sure if you enable developer mode theres a button at the top that lets you change your current game. You can probably go to the forums and find out how to remove them
