Deepens on if you like the current games out for it.
I feel that is the real essence of the topic
Well if you dont like anything tha'ts out for it yet then no its not worth it.
getting one because i wanna play mario and zelda. good enough reason for me
Im getting one for christmas and gonna start off with Odyssey because Im a huge Banjo fan and Odyssey is basically Nintendo made Banjo Threeie and I'm fucking about that life, and Splatoon 2 even though I know it's a step down from 1 because Turf War and the ink mechanic are still inherently pretty fun and I have a friend to play Splatoon 2 with. Really excited for 2018 the year seems stacked.
>Mfw I got a PS4 this year and now I'm getting a Switch
Feels amazing man.
Mario Odyssey is a one-day game
The new Zelda is overrated, feels very desolate, bland, and repetitive, the novelty will wear off even while you're in the starter region
Wait for the january nintendo direct
BotW is better played on PC
Odyssey's great
And that's about all it has. After Bayo3 comes out I'll probably want one, though.
Sup Forums hates it,but you should get BOTW too.
I think the issue you pointed out was implied in the question. How else would you decide whether it was worth getting
Wrong in both accounts
Well, it has Xenoblade 2, Super Mario Odyssey, BOTW, Super Bomberman R, Splatoon 2, and Fire Emblem Warriors right now. Do you think those games are worth it? If not wait a while, if you do think they're worth it, get a Switch.
Only BOTW sounds fun but is it worth $360?
For one game? No, I don't think so. I'd suggest giving some of them a try at kiosk or something though. I tried out Fire Emblem Warriors at Target and it was kind of fun. Odyssey is obviously available to try out everywhere.
I want Switch for Splatoon, Mario Kart and Xenoblade.
I want Ps4 for Nier, Senrans, Monster Hunter, and Gravity Rush.
Which do I get?
Get both.
>Get both.
I don't have that kind of money, user.
If you don’t have a Wii U, yeah
>Mario Odyssey is a one-day game
explain. not trying to argue just genuinely dont know what this means
The best game is the Wii U and PC. Hold out for another year.
>buying the BING BING WAHOO in the current year
Yeah.
I'd wait for SMTV/Octopath/Travis Strikes back, but I'm an impatient moron who really wants to play Xenoblade 2
Guess I could get FE Warriors or something in the meantime
user is a neet with insomnia, finishes games in 24 hours because no sleep and no work
I have one. I like everything about it except for that retarded controller in OPs pic. It's made for literal baby hands.
Just wait for the revision that'll be named Siper Switch XL New or whatever. It's pretty shit hardware as it is and isn't worth it for the 2-3 games worth playing on it.
But Nintendo Switch has a Senran Kagura game???
$10 for the dressing room segment of other games and only one shit character
If you look on HLTB, odyssey is 12 hours for the campaign, if you arent a completionist. So yea you can beat mario in one day.
Not enough games yet.
If you dont intend on capitilzing on the portability, get a PS4. You can get Pros for cheaper than a switch, and when it comes purely to hardware and quantity of quality games, the PS4 is the undeniable winner.
t. owns both
>portability
I'd maybe take it to a familams house once a week or on a trip once or twice a year. I'd also maybe have an ex co-worker to play games with online. But that's only a maybe.
If I got a Ps4 i'd only likely potentially play games for and by myself.
Would Ps4 still be the better choice?
...
It all depends on your personal preference. Write out a list of pros and cons if need be. If youre on a tight budget, the PS4 is better. The Switch is new, and nintendo rarely lowers the price on their games. Whereas with the PS4, you can get some great deals. I was browsing local classifieds and saw a Pro + 2 games for $300.
I can't tell you which you'll like more. It sounds like you are trying to decide between infrequent social fun, or frequent personal fun.
Personally i love my PS4 but like I said, it's up to you.
>MFW my company has to pay 10k Euro tax this year .....
I am literally buying things I dont even need just to pay less tax even my wife who has no interest on gaming has a 1080ti in her PC and a 4k Monitor.
SEETHING
Are there 5 games worth getting yet?
This forced meme is almost as bad as 'reddit spacing'
it's interesting to see the evolution of 'u mad bro?' though. memes rarely evolve
pretty much yeah specially if you have a wife or friend to play with.
I'd say the system has three worthwhile exclusives, Odyssey, XC2, Splatoon 2.
Because of that award, I had high hopes for BOTW but was sorely disappointed, I kept thinking it would get better once you got off the plateau but it's really more of the same and the world just feels so lifeless and desolate...
I have it on WiiU
I didnt play BOTW, but I got exactly that feeling from Odyssey. It felt so robotic and empty.
Maybe this is just what happens when you get older.
Sucks to be you I guess. Everyone else and I were blown away by such an incredible gaming experience. All those 10/10 scores and awards are right.
There's only like 3 games worth playing for $300 console right now.
>Maybe this is just what happens when you get older.
Complete opposite for me. The older I get, the better the appreciation I get of game design. Both BotW and Mario Odyssey are masterpieces.
A fair number of people feel the same way, don't be foolish.
I have one and I can safely tell you that I've never had worse buyer's remorse over a video game related purchase.
>There's only like 3 games worth playing for $300 console right now.
Please stop this fucking retarded meme you silly salty child.
The next mainline game is announced for PS4 only.
Honestly, the entire Switch platform has that same look-and-feel from what I notice. The HUDs and menu on both games are very spartan and basic for example. At least the Wii U had more life in it (since they basically ripped most of it from the original Wii system). It's like Nintendo lost their mojo recently and they're simply coasting by and raking in the money, I suspect it has to do something with the failure of the Wii U which cascaded into the Nintendo Switch. The Wii U on the other hand had a lot of life in it partly because of the massive success of the Wii.
All these GOTY awards for BOTW is very suspect, probably because of all these 30/40-year old editors that grew up playing the original Zelda and the nostalgia they have for it. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to the next Zelda game, hopefully by then they'll improve upon the open-world Zelda concept and Nintendo's fortunes continue to improve with the Switch.
No orange joycons
Not worth my money
dedicated handheld version when?
The switch is most played gaming device this year. Being an actual adult with adult responsibilities, I rarely get as much time as I used to for gaming. But the Switch has given me that time back. It also doesn't hurt that its had one the best launch years of any system.
>it's like Nintendo lost their mojo recently
What the actual fuck am I reading?
What are you talking about? Mario Oddysey, xenoblade 2 and Mario kart imo are the nly games worth getting for switch. I have Zelda botw on the Wii u.
Please list other games you think it's worth to gt switch
Seriously? Nintendo have hit title after hit title, month after month. Many exclusives, some ports. All hit games. Just because multi plats are available on other systems doesn't negate their existence on Switch.
Wierd because I'm pretty sure that Sup Forums always said that multiplats on PC don't count towards other platforms.
Can I just buy a moon from the shop and it'd count towards the initial 880 moons because I'm seriously fucking done with jump rope geniues. I just don't have the timing or patience for it and I don't wanna use the glitch to get it either.
A pretty valid opinion. It doesnt feel like they have done anything special. The Switch's external design is neat but it really stops there. It feels like they played it safe and pandered to nostlagia to recoup profits.
Why do you do this? Like, do you feel joy when you write these words to people time and time again, somehow hoping that this time someone might listen and not at a game because of you? I legit want to understand what makes you tick, what's in your head that makes you lost the same crap time and time again.
Wasnt BotW voted and won GOTY?
So if you like normie games, their journalists, and take award ceremonies hosted by literal who's seriously, I would say yes.
Calm down, I explained in that I hope Nintendo succeeds in their next Zelda game and I hope the Switch continues to sell like hotcakes because frankly it's a great console system, just the exclusive titles all feel very bland and robotic, in fact you look at the HUD in , you notice there's a lot of bland white pastels and the HUD looks like it was slopped together by a college intern, hopefully you understand my point. My point is, I don't believe BoTW deserves a GOTY award and even Miyamato agrees with my point if you read up on some of his recent interviews regarding BoTW.
>many exclusive
Well, give me a list of "exclusive" switch games then.
Been wanting a switch but lack of games puts me off
It think their just trying to differentiate the Switch from the Wii to avoid another Wii U kerfuffle. It's a brand new era in their marketing to attract new customers.
Why does someone sharing a fairly common opinion bother you so much? Feeling let down isn't the same as shitting all over something and telling people not to buy it. Disappointment usually comes from something you once loved.
DON'T RESPOND TO MY POST IF YOU'RE NOT ANSWERING MY QUESTION YOU STUPID NIGGER!
THIS JUMP ROPE BULLSHIT IS SERIOUSLY PISSING ME OFF!
FUCK!!!!!
Yeah, I agree. Personally, I think the Switch feels very base but that could be a good thing if it serves as the building blocks for something even better. I do like how user friendly it is. I have never once been lost in menus trying to find something like I have on the PS4, before.
I'm 30yo and I'm having a blast with both these games. Currently on my second run of Zelda (since my first was on the Wii U and now I got a Switch).
To be honest I didn't think I'd like to play it again, but I'm going much slower and appreciating everything, focusing on side-quests and such and it's been tons of fun.
I also have a PS4 and Xbone. The Xbone is of course collecting dust until the day they release Sea of Thieves, and I was having a good time with Yakuza Kiwami on the PS4 until I got the Switch.
Clean is "in" right now user. Unfortunately.
What glitch? I got it in my first try, just think of it as a rhythm game, speeding up the rhythm every time it goes faster.
Nintendo are going through a 2nd renaissance. It was necessary, because if they didn't get their shit together, video games would be in a very different place right now.
I consider their first renaissance to be the few year stretch where they released Advance Wars, Golden Sun, Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros Melee, Pikmin, F-Zero GX etc in a short span, when they were getting their shit together after the (comparative) sales failure of the N64.
Nintendo do best after a failure.
>rhythm
Did you read my whole post? I'm to white to have rhythm!
FUCK!
Both nigga. You poor or something?
More seriously, if you can only get one right now, get the one that has more currently that you want. The Switch is at the start of its life while the PS4 is somewhere in the middle, so depending on how many PS4 games you want, it's probably worth getting the PS4 now and the Switch later purely because you'd have both while they're still getting content then.
Here's Nintendo exclusives:
Breath Of The Wild
ARMS
Mario Kart 8
Splatoon 2
Golf Story
Fire Emblem
Pokken Tournament
Super Mario Odyssey
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
I'm sure someone will be along to point out that BotW, Pokken and Mario Kart are on Wii U.
Just give up already, they're Nintendo exclusives and thats that. I never had a Wii U and neither did hardly anyone else. So Mario Kart 8 was an entirely brand new game for me and it is AMAZING.
Oh fuck, forgot about Mario+Rabbids which also got rave reviews.
Nah, it will never be. You probably won't want
Xenoblade, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Smash, Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Bayonetta, Yoshi, Kirby, Splatoon, or Fire Emblem.
ARMS is a meme and Golf Story is overrated
ARMS is a lot of fun without motion controls, and Golf Story is great.
Fuck off with your "these games are memes"
Holy shit what a garbage list. Thank's god i didn't fall for switch shill poster.

>Breath Of The Wild
10/10 Genuine masterpiece
>ARMS
7/10 fun but you'll get bored quickly. Maybe but it in a sale next year.
>Mario Kart 8
9/10 absolutely superb. If you never owned this on Wii U its an essential buy
>Splatoon 2
8/10 brillant take on online fps
>Golf Story
8/10 charming old school adventure
>Fire Emblem
6/10 one for fans of the series only
>Pokken Tournamen
7/10 underrated fighting game
>Mario+Rabbids
9/10 sleeper hit of the year
>Super Mario Odyssey
10/10 masterpiece
>Xenoblade Chronicles 2
8/10 superb massive open world rpg
The switch's first year isn't even over yet and it has GOAT exclusives.
Odyssey, Super Bomberman R, and BOTW all look fun but the rest don't appeal to me, I'm still waiting for more games to come out.
Have fun playing babies games.
The Switch shitposting has driven this board insane.
Someone actually made this.
Sitting out on back porch, with an ice cold beer, playing BotW on a warm summer's evening.
You will never experience this bliss.
No, but I will experience this, Shortcher.
>sauropods go extinct
>synapsids become mammals
???
>Have fun playing babies games.
BotW treats the player with more respect and intelligence and is ultimately far more sophisticated in its design than most other games. It makes other open world games look like infantile nonsense by comparison. How can you live with yourself?
>Someone made this
eh caudt da feesh
>lubina de hyrule
What the fuck did he meant by this?
I'm sitting in my room watching the blizzard outside playing NEVER SHOULD'VE COME HERE on my switch.
Im very comfy
>ARMS and Pokken with the same rating when you correctly note ARMS loses steam fast and Pokken is underrated
ARMS is pretty good. Just doesn't have longevity I felt.
And Pokken gets so love at all. But in actual fact it's also pretty good. Not amazing, won't change your life or your opinion of Nintendo. But it's still a good game.
>buying a dead console
>with no library
>and no support from any developers
sounds like a wise investment
