As someone who preordered it on PC, at least for said version I blame:
- First and foremost, the poorly made port. It's the first game in a long time that refused to run on my machine, not even with all the graphical settings on low, and all the on-screen text was distorted and illegible. At the end I managed to run it because I upgraded my GPU, and even then it refused to run on my 40" TV, instead running only on my monitor. That's why while I ended enjoying the game I refuse to change the negative qualification I gave it. (pic related is how it looks on my GTX1060).
- The game is poorly balanced; playing on the hardest difficulty enemies can kill you in a couple seconds even with full armor.
- That stupid dream sequence mission was insanely hard for something that was entirely pointless.
- They ruined the laser weapon, turning it into a sniper rifle of sorts.
- You only need to use two weapons: the silenced pistols and the assault rifle; the other weapons, especially the ones dropped by the ubersoldats, are almost useless.
- No boss battles; not even a final boss. The final challenge you have to face is a fight against a horde of ubersoldats, regular soldiers and a couple big guys
- Cutscenes were too long; the very beginning of the game is absurd: you have to watch like 20 minutes of cutscenes before start playing
Except for those flaws it plays almost identical to The New Order, being almost as long.

On the other hand I'm sure Sup Forums ran a smearing campaign against the game. Given how no sane person would feel indignation about shooting nazis, instead they exaggerated the game's flaws (6 hours campaign when the game is longer than that, the lack of multiplayer when that didn't stop The New Order / The Old Blood and people liked DOOM's single player campaign far more than the multiplayer), or outright lied (60% cutscenes, non-stop communist propaganda, neither of them being true)

Did you install the latest drivers before playing? Mine would crash on the first logo before nvidia fixed their drivers. I have a 980ti and an aging ivy bridge i7. The GPU is basically idling at 40% at über presets in 1080p 60 fps when I play it on my TV (60hz input cap). What AA are you using?

Yes, I did. I even uninstalled all the NVIDIA drivers, without any luck. After launch I waited a couple weeks for the post-launch patch but it didn't improved things.

Are you sure you're not bottlenecked by CPU or RAM? A 1060 should handle this game fine at 1080p ultra presets at the very least. AFAIK even consoles have a 60 fps target in this game.

Yes, I have a low tier PC (FX6300, 8 GB RAM, GTX660ti upgraded a couple weeks ago to a GTX1060), but of all the games I've played The Old Colossus is the only one that refused to run on this computer at all. Even poorly-optimized games like pre-patches (and even post-patches) XCOM 2 or Nier Automata ran at 40-50 fps on medium. TNC crashed at the very first moment you took control of B.J, regardless of how much I tinkered with it.

660ti is pretty much obsolete for AAA, so no surprises there. 8GB of RAM is also stretching it at this point, you can't have much shit going on in the background. The FX chips haven't aged very well either, and I don't think anyone who have the means to upgrade would bother running them anymore, unlike older i7s.

That may be true but still I was able to run any AAA I threw at said card. Of course not at 120 fps on Ultra 4K, but the games were perfectly playable, except for TNC. It finally ran and I was able to play and finish the game when I installed a 1060, even when the processor and the RAM were still bottlenecking the system.

So, should I upgrade to a Ryzen? I'm not really that obsessed with graphics; I just want the games to look and run fine.

If you're seeing good GPU utilization and you have good framerates in all the games you care about, you're not having a CPU bottleneck. The terrible performance on a 660ti was probably due to the GPU itself. Ryzen would be a good upgrade from that 5 year old CPU, but you might as well wait until zen+ in the spring or later if the CPU is not the problem for the games you play.

Other than their marketing team being AIDs, it's the fact that they took the worst part of TNO (its intrusive cutscenes and story) and dialed it up to 11. After the success of DOOM4 I think a lot of people were expecting that sort of narrative logic.

TNC tried to play it straight, but then it goes back on this multiple times, so the absurd moments like Hitler in a space station and Anya tackling BJ while pregnant and tearing off her clothes doesn't feel like a grindhouse flick, it feels like it's out of place.

People just want to shoot shit. They don't care that BJ's daddy hated niggers. It's inconsequential to the gameplay. Just let people shoot shit with guns that are fun to shoot.

I really, really liked the entire Hitler sequence; it felt like something out of Inglourious Basterds.
Now, everything about B.J's father, that was annoying and cringeworthy. It contributed nothing to the narrative or the game itself. It would be like DOOM 5 having 30 minutes of cutscenes showing how Doom Slayer was bullied by Imps when he was young. It would be worthless because a hero doesn't need a justification to be a hero, especially not such a narmiest one.

I've been playing Wolfenstein since I was a kid. I loved the game. Suddenly everybody is telling me that if I don't like this game, and don't want to drop all of my money on buying it, I'm a nazi.
