Japan's obsession with AGI builds is what stops them from being incapable of crafting a decent TRPG.
*breaks game*
I'm not autistic so I don't know what AGI means
>GBA Swordmasters breaking the game
Only Rutger is actually a top tier unit
>Swordlock in Lance Emblem
>1 Range in 1/2 Range Emblem
>Infantry in Horse Emblem
Swordmasters suck.
>Swordmasters being worth a fuck in GBA games.
Outta my way you fucking pansys.
but those sweet animations tho
assassins are better
>SRW J
>Super Robots that aren't named Great Zeorymer or maybe Mazinkaiser are at a huge powergap with every "Real" Robot in the game, because Evade is way more useful than tanking most of the time.
Yes? And? They get fucking rekt by armored knights with lances.
>anti guns
>anti technology
>anti strength
>anti god
What's wrong with japanese?
Literally only Rutger breaks the game. Mainly because of his HM base stats and ability to get over a 100% crit
Have you never played a single rpg before?
Man do I love this class.
Well he did just say he wasn't autistic.
Berserkers are a case of "the unit matters more than the class"
Berserkers are strictly better than Swordmasters, but the units themselves are worse than the Swordmaster units. Gonzalez and Geese are terrible units (they are fun to use, but they suck), especially in comparison to Rutger.
Hawkeye is the only great Berserker in the GBA games.
>Swordlocked Infantry that has a 20 Str cap
>good
Rutger's biggest contributions are in the earlygame. After you get out of Axeland he goes from 10/10 broken to pretty good.
>not having Ross single handedly solo the game as a berserker
>Tactics Ogre
>Final Fantasy Tactics
>not decent
Opinion discarded
Muscular men are generally unpopular in Japan due to backlash against the huge popularity of western action movies in the 1980. There's a perception of particularly ripped men as being homosexual, the best you'll get it ottermode.
>babying a shitter just to get a good unit later
Even if Seth wasn't a factor this would be dumb.
>particularly ripped men as being homosexual
considering bara culture in both east and west
I'd say they're pretty right
>sword masters broken
>when paladins exist
>when fucking generals will rekt your shit without mercy
>where assasins exist
Nah
>Generals killing Swordmasters
>when Armorslayers exist
>assassins
>same negatives as Swordmaster (Swordlocked Infantry) but with an added 20 str cap
>just to get a useless skill
*sword breaks u*
*uses a spear*
Wow really fucking nice fag
cool numbers
Assassin still has access to killer blades and their special is more useful
>Swordbreaker
This is a GBA thread.
Berserker, Generals and Wyvern Lords are the best shit
Hector is best lord
I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Jaffar though
>weapon breakers
>not gba
Have you actually played the fucking game?
Are you retarded? Just take him in to the tower of valni like 4 times.
(You)
>mfw rutger caps str and spd before the level cap
I wasn't even on hard mode.
Swordmaster class in FE sucks anyway. Late game, everyone is attacking twice so it's not like you need their speed and their low strength is pathetic. I'd rather have a Warrior with 2 x 34 vs a SM with 2 x 16.
>seth-fags
I'll never understand this.
Seth is fucking awful in the late game.
Try doing Lagdou Ruins and watch him get his shit pushed in by zombie dragons.
*doesn't overspecialize and quality builds your path*
>Swordlock in Lance Emblem
?
>1 Range in 1/2 Range Emblem
FE7
>Infantry in Horse Emblem
Holy War
>stops them from being incapable
Seth can solo the whole game in HM.
>can deal with 99% of all enemies from the beginning of the game until the end
>can't easily deal with a few post game bosses without a sacred weapon
>wow he's shit
Marcus can't kill the Fire Dragon, does that mean he'a a bad unit?
>>babying a shitter
You level up really easily in Fire Emblem and FE8 in particular.
You don't need to grind if you don't want to in order to make it happen. You don't even need to really baby any of them either.
Just don't kill anyone with your highest levelled unit(s) and keep sweeping the floor with your lowest levelled unit(s). And you can keep an even level field while still dashing a full skirmish team to max level in no time.
High level units receive less exp. Low level units receive bonus exp.
Just don't waste exp and those junior classes will out perform everyone in just a couple of chapters.
Swordmasters are nice and all for their speed and dodge, but I'll stick by my generals and paladins for their stength/defense and reliability on higher difficulties. Almost all memedons get strength screwed anyway.
Yes. Objectively, factually shit unit.
FE12 was the only FE that gave me trouble. Paladins saved my shit in that game, while Navarre kept getting his shit kicked in on the same map you recruit him. Fuck swordmasters.
This. Swordmasters are fun as fuck, but they're all but useless on hard
I honestly think its impossible to beat FE6 HM early game without Rutger.
I replayed it recently alongside a friend actually. I told Rutger to fuck off because my man Dieck was doing all the heavy lifting already.
>Garcia's bases
HP:28 Str:8 Skl:7 Spd:7 Lck:3 Def:5 Res:1
>Ross's Pirate 10/1 averages
HP:23.3 Str:11.5 Skl:5.15 Spd:6.7 Lck:11.6 Def:6.25 Res:1.8
One requires zero exp. One requires ten levels. They both join at the same time. This argument was won a very long time ago and you shitters still think you can argue trainees are good. They're not. Fuck off.
Dieck is largely inferior to Rutger even on casual runs.
Silencer is a bad Skill. It's rare for it to kill where a regular crit won't, and especially rare for it to kill where a Swordmaster crit won't since they have 4 extra Str to work with.
Do you mean weapon triangle? Swordmasters won't die from getting hit by 1 Spear.
Funnily enough, in FE6 Armorslayers are better than Hammers since Hammers have an atrocious 45% hit.
>just invest into this unit and they'll get good eventually!
If i'm going to invest into units, i'll invest into ones that take less time to raise and are better than Ross. Such as Franz.
Seth is fine in the end game, did you not give him enough EXP? Seth's bases are actually kinda bad (for his level) because he's a growth unit.
>there are people out there who still refuse to give FE7 Marcus a single kill because "muh EXP stealing!"
Why bother making an uber-trainee (who is actually only slightly stronger than other units in the same class) when they aren't necessary? Trainees won't do things that your other units aren't already doing, and your other units don't have to go through a "does piss poor damage and dies to a gust of wind" phase.
>swordmaster gets accidentally hit once
>dies
>general gets a crit
>2/3 health remaining because swordmasters have shit str
SM obliberate light units but the second they come across shit with armor (aka lategame) one fart in their general direction and they die
Yeah I'm aware how stupid HM base stats are in that game, but FE6 isn't at all difficult enough to require Rutger on a regular hard mode run. Personally, by the time he arrived, Dieck had already ate up so much exp that I just stuck with my guns and had zero trouble throughout the rest of the run.
>there are people on this board, likely in this thread, who remove Marcus's weapons to serve as a meat shield to avoid "EXP stealing"
>people are actually discussing the gameplay of JRPGs
Maybe because it had things to discuss.
Swordmasters don't die in 1-hit. Usually 2-3 even if it's a strong weapon.
>2/3 health remaining because swordmasters have shit str
Armorslayers exist and they have 3x Mt on Armored units. Even with bad Strength that should be enough to 1-round them, even without crits.
The biggest factor is how good their animations are, so Mercs win by default. Their Hero promotion is actually a downgrade because they lose their best animation.
It took over 30 minutes for someone to comment on this double negative bugged the heck out of me when I read OP???
I thought you guys were supposed to be shallow and judgemental to point out things like this right away.
disappointed.
>using jeigans/oifayes
>ever
I don't even give a fuck if they're "technically" better, they are straight up the least fun characters in all of the games.
>caring how good a character is in a piss easy SRPG series
lmao
>The biggest factor is how good their animations are
This.
Post less than ideal characters that do the job for you. I'm glad this guy got memed into popularity. My motherfucking dude.
This. FE is way more fun if you just use characters you like and who happen to be good in your game.
>stop playing the game how I don't want you to play it
Are you actually autistic? I know you're gonna reply with something along the lines of "You can like them but they're still shit" but you genuinely seem perturbed by this.
>tfw there will never be a fire emblem gaiden chapter where you have a bunch of rank and file soldier units and you have to survive a siege made of a bunch of animu named units
>Marcus
>least fun
You mean you don't have fun thinking about how Marcus has carried 3 straight generations of Eliwoods and is acting as a wingman to Roy so he can carry a 4th generation before finally fucking dying?
He's got great bases and that's it sadly.
I really fucking wish they stuck with this general design, it's /m/ as fuck and I love it.
>implying swordmasters are gamebreakers
>implying that's not a better position to be in than games making them trap options
Not like AGI+DEX aren't combat god stats in Jagged Alliance 2, anyways.
FE10 3-13 is pretty fucking close. You're using a bunch of allied units and the dweeb brigade against the Greil Mercenaries.
No I don't find crutches fun.
Ultimately, you can play however you want, but don't do stupid shit and claim that it's optimal. I use Gonzalez every time I play FE6, but I never argue that he's good.
Yeah but you also get the most powerful allied NPC in FE history.
are the new FEs shit?
loved the GBA ones
I went from the GBA games to Awakening and was so pissed at how shit the knight and general designs were in that game
>I know you're gonna reply with something along the lines of "You can like them but they're still shit"
If he did, he'd be right.
FE is a casual series anyway, it even lets you savescum. Just do what you want
Remember how Olympic sprinters use crutches to get lower times? Yeah I don't either. If any unit type is a crutch it's Armor Knights, Oswin being the perfect example. They're slow as shit and using them is safe since they don't die but you're going to miss a ton of items by using them as your main units. You're hobbling yourself by using low movement units. You're sprinting to victory by using high movement Jagens.
For the most part yes. Conquest has a garbage story but has some of the best gameplay, systems, and difficulty design in the series.
Not really. The closest one to the GBA games is Echoes, but if I praise it in any way i'll summon the mapfags.
Meant to say "kinda"
Speaking of animations, I hope to see Fire Emblem Switch take a cue from Echoes' pretty good ones
Stay hopeful for the eventual Elibe remakes. It might happen.
I never got the hype for the archer. He died the same like any other NPC.
I like Awakening but hate Fates.
>We'll never get sprites again
>Update
Based Heros. Even if the series is biased towards Swordmasters and Berserkers due to crit rate bull, they are still my favorite class.
Echoes isn't anything like the GBA games though unless you consider the FE8 the face of the GBA era. While the map objectives weren't always the best, the designers really hit the sweet spot for forward progression by giving you a reason to speed through in nearly every chapter. As sick of hearing it as you are, Echoes has genuinely shit map design and its only anti-turtling measure is boredom and enemies who don't move unless you move into their range, forcing you to move up no matter what. No chests and thieves, no rewards for completing certain objectives, no in-chapter recruitments, no villages, nothing. Even FE8 puts Echoes to shame.
What is it like to have horrible taste?
>that twirl at the end
gets me hard every time
Similar in tone and style.
What is it like to have horrible taste?
Feels bad
This is usually the case even in the more recent SRW games, where a real with its evade upgrade halfway done and maybe a Focus pilot skill can be thrown into the middle of an entire enemy army and dodge every hit, but you toss a super in there and unless it's some shit like a fully upgraded Mazinger ZERO that takes 10 damage from every hit it's gonna get worn down pretty hard at best
>I like Awakening but hate Fates.
I'm not seeing it. The gameplay design being so different has me finding it difficult to see the parallels. The storytelling wasn't the centerpiece of the GBA games while it absolutely is for Echoes. The art styles are kind of comparable I guess, though Echoes has a much softer style, though that's not really a bad thing.
I might just be bad at judging the story side of FE since I haven't given a shit about the story in close to a decade.
Playing with animations on is for plebs.
Animation off during enemy turn is the patrician way to play.
>Do you mean weapon triangle? Swordmasters won't die from getting hit by 1 Spear.
They're talking about weapons that reverse the weapon triangle, in this case Lancebreakers.
>missing those great moments when you see a character about to die but you see the critical animation start
pleb
animations on is okay in the 3DS games because you can fast forward it while still seeing the battle menu.
i have jrpg where there is no armor slot. at best, armor is a thing you can put in an ACCESSORY slot. fuck this bullshit. nobody want to fight against nightmare beasts without thick sheets of metal between you and death.
>wasting your time watching the same things over and over
Maybe you don't value your time but I do.
Not him but
>evil king who is actually being controlled by spooky mage faction
>artstyle more similar to gba fire emblems than last few entries
The gameplay is obviously completely different, but it's got that classic fire emblem feel that the 3ds games don't have. Most of it is probably due to it being a remake.
This is genuinely one of the best features they've ever added. If Awakening brought one good thing to the series it's the ability to speed up and skip battle animations. The way they handle the music transitions from map to battle is also orgasmic and so much better than the battle scenes and music we used to have. Moving from Fates to Echoes made me miss the musical style of nuFE a ton because of all the times I had to hear the first two seconds of the battle track.
>values his time
>on Sup Forums
If she was moving that fast he wouldn't be able to see her
Also muh g-force
