Devs on full panic mode

Devs on full panic mode.

>implying they give a shit
sure, the game is dead butthey already got the money. you won't be able to refund it when (if) it leaves early access after what happened with ARK.

How do you mean?

The Rust guys say they want to leave Early Access by the end of 2017.

With the game in it's current state, they better fucking not. This is coming from a guy with like 800 hours.

can someone give me a quick rundown on this?
I keep hearing DayZ is dead, what happened

>sure, the game is dead

fake news

What happened now?

The saddest part of DayZ is I had the best time in the first month and everything since has been shit.

Thats the problem with early access, they never leave alpha. Its always a rough pile of shit. Sometimes its fun but they never finish it. Quality standards are at an all time low. I guess they already have your money so it doesn't matter. A release date for a early access game is just a final cash grab before they move on.

>everybody loves the dayz mod
>devs decide to make a standalone which basically fixes the issues of the mod
>everyone is hyped
>standalone releases in early access
>it doesn't get that many updates, has less content than the mod and runs worse but it's just early access, right?
>main guy leaves
>updates become even less frequent
>devs block people who criticize the game on twitter and keep posting soon™ nonsense
>4 years later it's still in early access

I just don't think the game has any meaningful content. If it was released tomorrow and held to the standard that a fully released game is I would be confused as hell.
>Why do the animals just stand around and do nothing?
>Why are resources and their spawns basically completely random?
>How do I prevent offline raids?
>If everyone just kills each other on sight and does nothing but fight, why is so hard to get the means to protect yourself?
>What is a player with a rock supposed to do against a player with an AK?
>How are players with AKs prevented from interacting with players who have only rocks?
>How do you prevent groups of literally fourty people from raping every single server in the game?
>What are some ways I can interact meaningfully with other players besides shooting them in the face?
>If the game wipes every week/two weeks/month, why should I join any server late?
>What is there to fucking do besides hit rocks and kill people?
Things like vehicles and hostile NPCs aren't going to fix any of these core issues with Rust, or any survival game for that matter. It's just a non-functioning genre.

standalone was always shit
the mod was the best it ever was and it's dead now

I had more fun with the mod but I also had fun with standalone in the first year.

I hope the early access meme dies soon. What happened to just releasing demos and betas for free or not releasing the game to the public at all until it's fucking finished?

Bullshit. You can always get a refund once game leaves early access

Why do all these open world survival games run so horribly when games like gtav can run 30fps on some integrated graphics? Legitimate question btw

budget

Because GTA5 cost $200,000,000 to make. Dumbass.

I meant more like how. What does this optimization word that everyone throws around really mean.

google is going to be a bigger help to you than asking strangers to understand basic programming concepts.

optimization is taking something that requires 2 things to work and improving it until it only needs 1.

I find Rust to actually live up to what it's supposed to do pretty well. The animal AI is probably the worst thing about the game, imo, but other than that I can sink an autistic amount of time into it every now and then.

I usually play solo most of the time too, which ends up making it a lot more intense.

>BIS releases the first game to leave early access on steam ever
>Arma 3 makes a decent profit
>BIS invests in DayZ
>it's early access's fault!

I still have a shitload of fun with DayZ. At least they didn't go the star citizen route and get sued.

they need to add a battle royale mode to save the game

>>BIS invests in DayZ
