Episode ignis

this DLC has done a terrific job at highlighting just how terrible Ignis' voice actor is. jesus christ his performance was abysmal

I played in Japanese, but noticed on an alternate ending video on YouTube that when Noctis puts the ring on, his English voice acting is awful too. There's no emotion and he sounds too different at times. Then you see the Japanese version and it sounds convincing.

>He plays with English voice acting

youtu.be/S8Sfd4A0PNo?t=10m49s

the funny part is, Luna is STILL dead

maybe noctis can finally give another girl a chance?

I literally just finished the DLC and thr alternative ending also.
Holy shit, was it good. That alternative ending was great.
But the saddest thing is that during that ending, when Noctis is sitting on the throne, Lunafreya is not with him :(

Japanese:

English:

either he remains chaste and names and heir or makes one with Iris

Who the fuck is still playing this piece of shit?

I'm done with it now. I didn't like it, I just wanted to experience the last of the DLC I paid for.

so did the ring cause him to become blind?

>heir or makes one with Iris
>could've been tifa 2.0
>decide to just completely forget she exists outside of 2 chapters
what a waste

I'm glad I didn't pay for that. I put it down about a week after it came out, and tried it again when the Carnival shit dropped. Then I deleted everything off the hard drive.

Yes.

she does kinda show up in the credits

for all we know its the day after they beat up ardyn for good

>Using the dub
What did you expect? We knew the dub VAs were trash ever since Episode Duscae.

The season pass was a waste of money and I regret buying it.

>time skip
>just give everyone beards
lol

isnt this what you want?

I can't believe Square is still dumping resources into trying to make their shit game somewhat acceptable, while giving nothing to Taro, despite the fact that Automata's profit margins must have been astronomical, while it took XV a year to get a million copies more than their "break even" point.

it looks lazy. it looks the worst with Noctis because his head is clearly too big for the character model.

They're taking workers from FFXIV too.

i think it's commendable that they're at least willing to give out free updates even thought they're no way obligated to. it shows that they at least care. unlike other publishers who will just abandon the game once it's had a few patches despite the fact that it has a lot of problems

Like I said, they barely got a million more sales than what is necessary to continue the franchise. They aren't even talking about FFXVI. FFVII Remake has been announced for years, episodic, and the first episode STILL isn't out. Taro got less money than FF's stationary budget, slapped it together in less than 2 years, and sold several million copies. It also was nominated for 3 VGAs and won one, while FFXV was nominated for 1 VGA, and won zero.

Either they released an unfinished product, and are charging extra for the finished product, or they released a bad game, and are trying to make it better with free and paid DLC. Either way, its unacceptable.

FFXIV took workers from Versus so it's fair

Just watch from 10:37 on the Japanese one and then 24:10 on the English one, there's no contest. The English one made me bust a kek when he did that Hulk roar.

Touche.

kek same here my dude. his screams are absolutely abysmal

The Japanese one is better but I don't think the English is all that bad really.

I feel that the Japanese dub is consistently good while the English dub is spotty. Sometimes it's great, but most of the time it's average or just meh...

This piece of shit game has 20gb updates every month, I didn't like the base game enough to buy any DLC so why are they making me download all this shit?

I like Iggy's voice overall in English, but the VA just can't into emotions.
Is it me being retarded or does Ignis have no personality in his DLC?

>20gb
It's hyperbole, but that's not how it works, when the PS4 tells you the patch size it tells you the combined size of all the patches up to that moment. If you check the game size the character switching weighted 2GBs, when the patch said it was 13.

I played through in Japanese and it was really cool to see Ignis in a vulnerable state. Like he has very clearly lost his shit (as in he's not his usual cool, collected self) and you can really hear it in his voice. Just going by the above two videos I can imagine what it was like in English and that makes me sad. I don't even think the actors themselves are to blame (Noctis, Gladio and Prompto are good in other games), it's the localization that botches it. Voice director too, I'm 100% sure the actors themselves aren't to blame. Apart from the English Ignis, he's legitimately bad in a lot of scenes (not all but it's very inconsistent).

valkarieaurora has a good video on why english ignis is the way it is, as well as noctis. it's pretty clear that japanese is the way to go after watching that video, especially if you care about nomura's version of noctis youtube.com/watch?v=kPR8z8z9g9I

I'll have to give it a go in Japanese then, it's a shame I don't speak it since then I'd be able to enjoy it more.

Being honest, I just want more Ignis. It feels like there's more depth to the character that they don't want to show. He has no internal conflict in the DLC, no doubt at all. More chats with David would have been good. A big one while they got to the altar to explore both characters would have been a treat.

>David
Ravus*
How did that even happen?

Warp points for Altissia when?

Thanks, that was a good watch.

lol

But his VA is fantastic.

Why the fuck do you ask this in every XV thread? It's obvious it's you every single time. How about you fuck off already?

No it was completely worth it, more fun than entire games that came out this year.

Yeah, I understand a bunch of phrases and sentences and shit so when I see the subtitles not match I can make the rest up in my head, I don't want to imagine what it's like to not be able to do that. Especially in FFXV's case, it's such a botched localization.

It already is acceptable and they are adding stuff because of fan demand. What the fuck does nier automata have to do with anything? That was made by platinum only published by SE.

You really have no clue how profits or revenue work at all if you think a game that sold 2m made more money than a game that sold over 6.5m. What is considered a success for AAA is completely different you fucking underage piece of shit.

>Why the fuck do you ask this in every XV thread? It's obvious it's you every single time. How about you fuck off already?
Unless the last FF thread was in April, it wasn't me. I haven't been on Sup Forums in over 6 months.

XV-kun? Is that you? I haven't spoken to you in months! How's life?

No they aren't. BD5 is literally hiring left and right and ramping up while BD2 sent devs from BD2 to other divisions following XVs release while the less than 200 people in it are mostly working on Tabata's new IP and the few rest are on the new XV content being made because of fan demand.

Nigger shut the fuck up, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. XV sold more in its first year than any other FF did in theirs, XV still has more GOTY awards than any other FF too. FFXV came out last year too so no shit a game from this year won shit at the VGA, which again still isn't as many awards as XV has from last year so I don't know why you're acting as if XV not getting awards this year matters towards anything.

Go and learn how AAA development works you turd.

Thanks for the link. Watched that and the Ignis one as well.
It's frustrating because it feels like I'm always going to be missing something.

I'm actually at a really bad point in my life right now, my wife left me for another woman so that hit me pretty hard. Gotta stay on FFXV to keep me from necking myself.

This game has gotten so many DLCs, do you really have to pay for every single one?

No it doesn't. The filesize isn't even close to what gears 4 is or quantum break which is well over 100gb on console

>some tumblr autist

>Go and learn how AAA development works you turd.
I've missed you, XV-kun. Life wasn't the same without your autistic rage, which you unsuccessfully try to disguise as business acumen.

You can stop lying

Overall I'd say Episode Ignis is a better quality product than the main game, which is a shame because you can tell it was trimmed to work as a five dollar thing and not look like more than the other two.
What do you think?

The trio was sent to Altissia to help the evacuation effort but they do nothing of the sort in the DLC, Why?

Life's good, enjoying new XV content and other games, excited for DBFZ and dissidia, and laughing at pathetic fucks like this that are beyond triggered.

I'm glad you're happy, XV-kun. Genuinely. There's nothing sadder than being a single-issue person, and having that single issue be misery inducing.

The story dlc is paid, $5 each.
the festival dlc is free but limited

Sorry but you're the dipshit trying to pretend a game selling 2m made more money than a game that sold 6.5m

>$5 each
Sounds fair.

ignis is from a story point of view the most helpful member of the band and this even after he goes blind. He is a fucking mother! cooking planning making sure everyone looks presentable lol

Ep Iggy is definitely the best dlc out of them, hoping ep Ardyn follows suit. I'm guessing ardyn mentioning his brother betraying him is a tease for his DLC

I'm not even mad, I love FFXV and have the platinum trophy and bought the season pass, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.

>The trio was sent to Altissia to help the evacuation effort but they do nothing of the sort in the DLC, Why?
It's really best not to hold XV's story or gameplay or world or soundtrack up to much scruitiny. If you do, you'll realize that it's a nonsensical game that isn't very challenging, fun, or good sounding.

Copies sold don't mean shit, buddy. If a game costs 1 million dollars to make, and sells 2 million copies at 50 bucks, then it is a profit of 99 million dollars. But if a game costs 300 million to make, and sells 6 million copies at 50 dollars, then you're only breaking even.

Sales don't mean shit without knowing what the investment was.

there is also the episode luna

and who would be the last?

See

Ok so you have no idea how budget or profit or revenue works. Thanks for confirming that.

Ep. Ignis was too short.
Good alternate ending though.

Most likely, although I'm not sure we'll actually see him, I don't think they'd want to work on making new designs all that. Maybe the whole thing is Ardyn sitting on the throne and reflecting on his past.

They did say they wanted to take a different approach in that they wanted to focus on each DLC individually instead of splitting into teams for each one. Maybe it's just PR talk, though.

But Miyano is based as fuck, his VA is really good. I played it in Japanese

Please explain to me how sales mean shit without knowing investment costs.

I should also probably say that it really was just a joke, no insult or anything. Harmless.

although the normal ending made me cry a little bit with the japanese dub even if it was a little dumb still

Dunno but Tabata just said this in gameinformer, and in a previous interview in famitsu he mentioned we'd see how other characters changed during the world of ruin

Way too short. It seriously feels shorter than even Episode Gladio.

The main Altissia area is fun as fuck to zip around in and gather materials fast for a pair of glasses in a new game. The grappling hook was a great idea. It could be interesting to speedrun.

Maybe you should actually read the financial reports instead of spouting shit.

I was doing pretty ok, but seeing Iggy tear up did me in. He's truly the best.

Maybe you should explain to me how you can make less money on sales than you invested, and how that turns a profit.

I'm NOT saying this happened in XV, by the way. I just want you to walk me through how you profit by spending more than you make.

The main bit was 1 hour 30 but it felt way more packed with story than ep Gladio or Prompto did, the alt end added another 30 onto it

Financial reports are always deceptive. For example, Kingsglaive was just an advertisement for FFXV. Do you think Kingsglaive made any money, or caused anyone to buy FFXV? Now how much money did they spend on that movie, and do you think it's grouped under the game's budget?

Except XV profited after breaking completely even on AAA budget meaning MORE revenue than something like automata could have done

Final Fantasy is their face. They feel an obligation to try to save face. It doesn't matter if it makes financial sense, they feel the company will suffer far worse losses if they admit failure.

>isn't very challenging
In the end that's a good thing. The times they try to make harder enemies, like Melusine are utter bullshit and only serve to make you mad.

>t-Those don't count
Post invalidated.
Kingsglaive was funded by Sony aka aniplex and stage6, so was the anime also aniplex.

I'm not talking about FFXV. I'm talking about how you said I was stupid for saying that sales don't mean shit without knowing the investment. So walk me through that.

This game as a whole highlights everything wrong with Final Fantasy, JRPGs and so on.

Then the expansion reveals what's wrong with the game.

It's like an infinite spiral of the game revealing itself to be bad, further down you go.

>This game as a whole highlights everything wrong with Final Fantasy, JRPGs and so on.
Except it's the least Final Fantasy-style Final Fantasy yet

Splitting the game's story across media was the dumbest decision they could make. There's a lot of stuff they don't tell you because they assume you've watched the supplemental material.

Except there is no failure, XV is the most financially successful mainline FF when comparing it's lifespan sales to any other FF at the same point in theirs.

It doesn't matter how much money you make. What matters is how much money you make relative to your money, manpower and time investment. FFXV wasn't worth the money, manpower or time. I understand that you're autistic and think that FFXV has the best metacritic scores because it has the most of them, but please try to think in a neurotypical fashion for just a moment.

No, I'm saying you're fucking stupid for thinking automata somehow did better than XV just because automata sold an unexpected 2m.

I never said Automata did better, sales-wise than XV. Point me to where I said Automata brought in more money than XV.

But every DLC have been good and fill in the very things people wanted to know.

They still feel that they've let down the fans. The game is still in a state where they evidently don't feel proud of it, too.

Such as?

Anything important from KG is learned in the game, and brotherbood is just showing short flashbacks to youth which they talk about in the game anyway.

Just like Episode Gladiolus told us so much more about Gladio. Or Ignis told us so much about Ignis.

when should the episodes be played? after beating the main game?

I hope Comrades gets more updates
Dig this shit

Yeah, after beating the game. They're written in a way that shows you should have finished the game first.

For one, Kingsglaive as the start of the game would give the player a hook to make them interested in the story and get them to care about the characters involved.

FFXV has possibly the worst opening to any game ever. And I'm not just talking about the car pushing, because that would have actually worked if it wasn't literally the first thing you do. Everything about the first few hours is terrible from a storytelling perspective and gives the player no reason to persist.
