Is this a good game for newcomers to SMT?
Is this a good game for newcomers to SMT?
As a newcomer myself, I really enjoyed it.
I played it along with SMT IV on my 3DS, it's very good. I recommend it.
No, it's not, the gameplay is almost completely different from the rest of the series. No dungeon crawling, no demon conversations, and Persona-lite elements. It's very much a spin-off.
It's a great entry point.
It's the first SMT I played and I really enjoyed it.
You could do better than that but at least it's not Persona.
>you could do better
Like with what SMT game, user?
Like the other anons said. It was my first non-persona SMT game as well and I really enjoyed it.
DS2 improves on the gameplay but has a weaker, more cliche anime flair story.
My first SMT game is DeSu2 and I loved it
Mainline, obviously.
Nocturne. Strange Journey. IV duology.
You can't go wrong with either of those.
Not that DS is bad, though.
Yes, yes and yes. Be sure to play the sequel too.
Bump
Bump
It was my gateway and it eased me in fine.
Yes but make sure to play on the hardest difficulty since its the original NDS difficulty, unless your a big pussy.
Mothman endured.
Don't bother with the first one, it has shit "muh edgy cuckistanity angels and demon" storyline. Play the second one, it is much better is every regard.
Delete this, son of man.
Yes, it was my first smt and excellent introduction
Don't listen to
he's underage and can't understand a good smt plot, while he prefers a really stupid ayy lmao story.

It won't really give you a good idea of how SMT plays, but it's still worth playing.
Persona's as good an entry point as DeSu.
People who start with Persona tend to never even try other SMT. That's why I don't find it to be a recommendable entry to the franchise as a whole.
Good game, second one is good too, but the plot isn't as good as the first game.
It's one of the better SMT games on the 3DS which is the entry point system for SMT newfags nowadays. Unless they specifically want to get into the older games I would recommend it first over Soul Hackers.
I like it a hell of a lot more than IV and IV:A.
this, stay away from DeSu, it's way better than SMT
>2
Jesus fucking Christ
Its gameplay is pretty different but its great for the concepts and themes present in most other SMT games.
I'm a homogay but Fumi was pretty hot. N-no hetero.
It's a far better starting point than DDS that's for sure, I have no idea why that one is usually reccomended for begginners.
Because it plays more like a traditional JRPG than most of the series. The next closest thing would probably be Raidou
Try out Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2
But that's exactly why I don't think it's a good starting point. You have demon fusing, arguably the best and most iconic part of the entire franchise, and for a begginner you're going to start him out with the one game that doesn't feature demon fusing?
>Persona-lite elements
Explain, please.
Yeah, the game is great.
this
you'll become familiar with recurring spells but thats about it. still a great game though.
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: OPPAI HAREM SURVIVORâ„¢
That's because a lot of them are only interested in Persona. If you're interested in MegaTen as a whole right off the bat, then starting with Persona is fine, it's just that a lot of MegaTen spinoffs are viewed as a part of MegaTen, where Persona is viewed as standalone because of its disproportionate popularity, which leaves a lot of people interested in Persona and just Persona. But if you're already interested in MegaTen as a whole, then Persona is no less appropriate a place to start as any other spinoff.
So fucking try hard. Just kill yourself. Nocturne is garbage
Yoohoo is shit.
I'd yoohoo Yoohoo's yoohoos
