If you take that away it's fucking mgs4 tier retarded

if you take that greentext away from your post its fucking your brain tier retarded

but bland as fuck MC killing his mary-sue mentor who was famous for slaying nazis in ww2 with a belly up to her chin is impressive plot?

RE2

Betrayal at Krondor. Btw, the amount of people enamored by Taro's "and then she died in this horrible manner and that is the entire characterization" style of writing further proves this is the worst board on Sup Forums.

Lisa has a great story
Nier franchise story is so wacky and unique I think its great
Bloodborne is unique too but could have been told better desu
Deus ex is great but too long I don't like
Idk I just like unique stories

Drakengard.
Nothing will ever be as great as that shitty game.
Unless Taro makes a worthy sequel, I suppose.

better than a pretty boy killing his bland mentor who is working with a mary sue who is possessed by a egotistical british man to take down a evil organization of AI that want to recreate 1984 on a global scale by first seeing if they can trick a person into becoming Solid Snake. MGS3 is just a really good James Bond movie.
that is really rude and would like you to apologize.

listen soyboy, you can take the most amazing story/plot and reduce it to shit in a single sentence that was intentionally constructed to demean something

story isn't about a set of chained events, its about the way those are told.

SkiFree

Illbleed

Shadow of Destiny was pretty good. I still need to go back and get some of the other endings.

2 ruined it's story with Arsenal Gear and everything in it.

2's story was so bad that 4 had to fix it and give it a proper conclusion

And the way MGS3 was told was way better than MGS2.
And funny that you complain about reducing a game to shit with sentence after posting

Now there's a game I'd love to see get remade. The town would look so lovely with modern graphics. Of course, they'd need to keep the original dub, not that shitty PSP one.

I am not reducing a game to shit by what I said, I am reducing your opinion to one instead.

Every time I think about Shadow of Destiny I realize I forgotten some important chunk of story and I always get these temporary mindfucks when I try to instantly piece it all together.

Marvelous game.

>listen soyboy, you can take the most amazing story/plot and reduce it to shit in a single sentence that was intentionally constructed to demean something
the person I was replying to did it first and I think both the games are fine. I just find mgs3's story to be more enjoyable and interesting. While mgs2 was pretty bland until arsenal gear. Tanker was great too.

And your opinion is pretty shit if you think 2's story was even remotely better.

It is pretty crazy some of the things you learn through each ending/timeline.

I would bet that 3 was just your first MGS title and that its somehow cemented in your mind with these integrated pink-tainted glasses.

There is a reason why MGS2 is very thought-provoking and MGS3 is rarely discussed in any way. MGS3 was a better video game from gameplay perspective however.

Nice bullshit assumptions, amigo.

The original dub sounds so bizarre at times, yet I really love it. Charles Martinet did an excellent job as Homunculus, and I just can't hear him being voiced by anyone else.

Yeah I remember watching the retsupurae of it and being fairly engaged in just how deep the rabbit hole went. Really the only time travel storyline in a Jap game I've liked aside from really simple ones like Chrono Trigger.

True, it was weird at times. But at least they sounded like you'd expect for most of the characters. The redub just sounded like fucking anime, with Eike played by "Yuri 'I'm Ben 10 Uchiha' Lolandfall"

Unironically Fallout 4

what are some other twilight-zoneish games?

this but Ironically

Not to mention it did the time travel pretty well and coherently. Nothing got too complicated, and the way things fall into place was pretty clever at times.

Hate to butt into this mess, but MGS2 is not thought-provoking in the way you think, it's just so convoluted people discuss it in attempt to understand what happened in it. That's not how a good story should be made.

And I have yet to play MGS3.

And you just know what's the exact way I think?
>Poor dumb user got confused by a poorly-told video game!!!

Christ you are a faggot is what you are

>MGS2 is very thought-provoking
>MGS2
>Thought-provoking
Kojima, pls

...

MGS3's story is just bad if the player has consumed documentaries and movies about WW2 and the cold war.
Its way more nonsensical than 2 with its premonitions, and is padded with way too much filler codec conversations.

The tropical rainforest in Russia, the spinning bullets, the nuke that was a hot topic between the US and USSR president in the beginning, only for MiGs to nuke Grozny Grad themselves in the end. The microfilm with trillions of dollars in it, only to end up stolen under Big Boss' nose by the obvious spy chick. Eva, only to leave Big Boss for China. The microfilm, which turned out to be fake. The Philospohers, who all turn out to be dead.

The story just keeps shooting itself in the foot. MGS3 is the epitome of build up and then deflation. Most of the game's dialog is a waste if you just pause and analyze the overarching plot. And its boring.

>getting this bitchy because people aren't seeing the game the way you do
Funny, considering you accused another of wearing nostalgia goggles for MGS3, hmm.

You seem to have a serial issue of misinterpreting people's posts.

I don't have any issues with others not seing eye to eye with my opinions, I got bitchy because someone took a blind assumption that is plain and simply not true.

And same with yours just now, I played MGS2 for the first time maybe 3 or 4 years ago.

(You) (Hakusho)

The fact that you're getting bitchy over a game with an overrated story really tells a lot about you.

>someone tells you indirectly that you are dumb
>you are wrong to have an issue with that

whatever

Great taste user

Only MGS1 had a good story. The rest were all crap.

Back at ya, kiddo

I'm not sure to be fair though twilight zone esque is kinda vague. The way the witcher games handle Geralt's memory could be considered a little twilight zone ish. Silent Hill especially 2 and 3. Maybe Resident Evil 7 haven't played it but it seems to have a "things are not as they appear approach"? Alan Wake I believe is legit based on Twilight Zone typed stories. Deadly Premonition wouldn't be too bad either.

>The tropical rainforest in Russia
why is this bad when its true?
>only for MiGs to nuke Grozny Grad themselves in the end
isn't The Boss the one who set the timer?
>The Philosophers, who all turn out to be dead.
that was set up in mgs2?
Also
>being mad that a game with fucking mechs isn't historically accurate

Hey, Ghost Babel was pretty good, too.

>RE7
Nah, it's not really that convoluted once you play it. It has moments where it seems like there's supernatural stuff, but it's basically what RE4 was meant to be at once point; a character under infection seeing shit.

This

Shadow of Destiny good story? kys

It was a good story.

Too bad Alan Wake starts as a briliant cocktease only to end up being straight up disappointing in almost every way, excluding visuals.

really?

I imagine the ending might have better appreciated if they had been able to make a proper sequel and not peter out in such weird way with that actiony spinoff/sequel or whatever it was.

MGS2 and Nier cause META, amirite?

Ah I see, damn that's a little disappointing, the trailer makes it look like a psychological experience is a decent chunk of it.

>I spotted a pattern between few critically acclaimed titles, what a good little redditor I am XD

...

>i spout reddit any time someone has a differing opinion
kys

It's RE, everything's always going to boil down to some kind of viral crap. Still, it was a nice change of pace after the last 6 or so games were pretty action-heavy.

Starting to wonder if people who accuse others of being reddit are themselves from there. Like how only newfags cry newfag at someone for saying shit they don't like.

I was making fun of those people, and I like both games, but now everything is 10/10 because it's meta and 'it's pushing the medium foward'. how pretentious can you be

...

Seems to be a recent trend for dem jap games. I'm really not a fan of post modernism like at all. And usually the meta elements are usually foolish.
>mfw the end of Bravely Default, the battle background is my shitty looking wall.
>mfw game starts referencing me, the player
>mfw game starts calling me the bad guy
>oh you could have prevented all of this by not playing
>mfw hey are you sad yet? cause you should be

Pretty sure they were implying you were a god and reason Tiz is alive instead of buried under all the rubble of his home.
Also, the reveal of you the player is pretty clever given the system it was one. Any other system and it'd have been pretty dumb.

Bioshock 1

Superbunnyhop searched for the actual MGS3 location and its a flat ice plain. No tropical rainforest in all of Russia.

>boss called the strike
The MiGs are carrying nuclear bombs and they still bomb the base. But why? The reason Naked Snake was introduced was so he could clean this mess up, according to Major Zero in the beginning of the game. It doesn't matter who called the strike. But having the strike called in in the first place breaks the logic of the mission.
Its even worse when Peace Walker came out and we clearly see a Shagohod design. So the nuke did nothing.

>philosophers
That's exactly why its bad. In MGS2 we find out that the wisemen were all dead. Big twist in that game. But in MGS3, they reused this plot device, again. But this takes place in the past so you'd think this time it would be different. But it was a let down. We were led to believe we could salvage their wealth, but nope. And it devalues MGS2 if people play 3 first. It becomes a >we know this already, thing.

>historical accuracy
If the game didn't take itself so seriously by telling the player intensively about the cold war and WW2 maybe it could get a free pass. MGSV did this so much better. When Afghanistan was introduced it was so well done. MGS1, 2, 4 and Revengeance avoid this entirely by taking place in the present or near future and even then they avoid making mentions of things that have happened recently. Well, in 4 they put all the history stuff in a downloadable Database but even then the whole database talks about MGS history and no real world stuff.

maybe not what you're looking for but the story of this "game" is similar to Shadow of Memories in terms of being multilayered and the player learning more about the overall story in every path/ending

>babbys first twist
>good

>No tropical rainforest in all of Russia.
there are rainforests and the area in mgs3 has no specific location
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Siberian_rainforest
>The MiGs are carrying nuclear bombs and they still bomb the base. But why?
Volgin literally gave no shits about nuclear war and the pilots were probably under orders to listen to The boss no matter what.
>But this takes place in the past so you'd think this time it would be different
they list people who died OVER a hundred years ago in mgs2, we already know they are dead at the start of 3 and Major Zero eventually does find the Philosopher's legacy. why would expanding on a plot point that we barely know about be a bad thing?
>If the game didn't take itself so seriously by telling the player intensively about the cold war and WW2
>intensively
it does it about as "intensively" as a james bond movie. A 5 minute conversation about it at the start isn't Intensive.

Yeah I know, I wasn't stating my confusion and only the first example is BD. Just my disinterest in meta stories particularly ones trying to make me feel bad. By that point in BD I already stopped giving a shit about anything.

I listened to every bit of codec from paramedic, sigint and zero. It takes itself pretty seriously.

Neat about the rainforest. But that's not a place where you'd find tropical poison dart frogs and snakes. He did home in on the coordinates of Grozny Grad and its not a tropical rainforest.

On the philosophers. I just wished that even with all that explanation, the payoff would have been a little better. It got even worse with MGS4. Maybe its why many hate its story. For such a dead end plot point to have been the foundation of 4's story.

I won't argue with the nuking of Grozny Grad anymore. But its just counter intuitive to have done that to the base after the objective was complete.

3 will always be Sup Forumss favorite. Its just not for me.
