The Unknown Creator Thread

Are video games the only medium where people have no idea who did parts of the games they love the most? For example most STALKER fags have no idea who in GSC was responsible for the core design.

Yeah its called corporate sheeple rotation.

GSC was a bunch of dweebs working in a makeshift office. I applied to work as a "courier" 12 years ago when I was still in school and didn't get the job, still deeply regret it. They literally worked in some appartment and then they rented some space near the obolon' naberezhnaya here in kiev. I've only visited twice for an "interview" which was basically a team deathmatch and duel in quake arena, I wasn't very good so I didn't quite click with anyone but from what I got they all pulled ideas together and the final decision was always a group one.

There must have been a single person that thought about anomaly design, some setpieces etc.

If you feel like it you should share everything you remember about that time though I would not regret not working in something so soul sucking as the vidya industry.

You realize that they don't often make the "who did what" really transparent? I'm a major stalkerfag and even I kinda don't always have a clue on who did what despite watching a bunch of GSC interviews.

Most of the stuff GSC did were just bad design decisions and they did not learn anything from it. In fact, Call of Pripyat has the most egregious use of the weakest elements of STALKER design, namely scripted sequences (not setpieces) involving bigger skirmishes, moving the plot forward in the way that is contrary to the game's open world nature. I doubt it's the same guy(s) that did anomalies and puzzles. Another thing is the consistent use of idiotic infodump dialogue.

Bitch, plz.

A LOT of early Japanese games were created by people who left the industry soon after. Many of the current "celebrity old school Japanese devs" are basically taking credit for the work of other people who aren't around anymore to say otherwise. Castlevania and Mega Man are notable examples of this.

Video game companies treat developers like shit. Voice actors get paid more and they do a fraction of the work a dev does. Plus game companies employ all sorts of shady practices to devalue a gamedev's work.

IGA never took credit for creating Castlevania nor did he ever try to sell the idea that it was his series. Not his fault most people are retarded. Can’t say the same for Inafune and Megaman since he always loved to sell himself as THE Megaman developer but even he went on record saying that it wasn’t his original creation.

It’s more of people not looking into things rather than developers “lying” for cred. So no, they’re not examples, even Megaman.

So Kojima is the biggest fraud in the industry

This makes me fucking sad.

Todd Howards murdered them all by now

Kiya Yoshio

>creates the action RPG genre
>creates the Metroidvania genre
>brings the RTS genre to Japan
>creates Ys, Legend of Heroes, Popful Mail and all those other Falcom games you feel cool and hip for playing
>and yet you never heard of him

What is your excuse?

where's the Dreamboy

While it's not directly releveant, until recently I didn't know Joe Kucan directed all the cutscenes in classic C&C games in addition to playing Kane

Thanks for this.
In fact Falcom has been very instrumental creation of JRPGs and J-ARPG, which indirectly lead to the creation of Legend of Zelda.
Anyone interested in JRPG history much read this fantasic article

>MGS1-3 had the U.S. Government as the ultimate bad guys.
>MGS4 retcons everything to Zero and Big Boss fighting over their mothefu's will
Did Kojima fired Fukushima because he was too red-pilled?

unless this guy's responsible for the ladder scene, i dont give a flying fuck.

but v and pw are about how libertarianism doesn't work so kojima's woke as fuck

I just wish there was a website that was nothing but a database of every single game and who composed the music for it. OCRemix is the closest thing but they're mostly limited to games and composers who have been featured on the site. I want to know who did the music for more obscure titles, or find obscure titles in the discography (or whatever you'd call it) of a composer.

no. for decades most star wars fans still thought george lucas had anything to do with the things they liked in those movies.
fans of a tv show might know the showrunner, but couldn't name all the regular writers or the person who designed the look of the show.

This is a great topic, but you might have better luck making it in 8 or hours hours when more people are around to discuss.

I think most of the original SoC team was not present for CS / CoP partially due to people leaving either due to problems with SoC's development or staff personal problems with Sergay etc.
