>Abandons his son forever after 17 years of not seeing him
Was he a bad father, Sup Forums?

Yes
Thanks for the spoiler asshole.
He betrayed god to help his son.
Still a shitty dad though. Fortunately Lloyd had a good foster dad to make up for it.
Sorry, mate.
How is kratos a shitty dad though? He fucking betrayed cruxis to help his son achieve world peace. He was willing to give his own life to help Lloyd by the end of the game.
I can kind of see both sides of the argument. On the one hand, he refuses to tell Lloyd until someone forces him to, and he abandons him forever at the end, but on the other hand he betrays his best friend to save his son and tries his beat to mentor his son throughout the game
I guess partly because he abandons him at the end of the game. Basically saying "Yeah, I gotta get rid of these Cruxis Crystals on Derris-Kharlan, so I'm never going to see you again. Okay, bye"
Kratos didn't tell Lloyd or anyone about his plan because he knew mithos was watching. At first it looks like kratos is asshole but it's to keep up appearances with cruxis. Kratos had good intentions from the very beginning.
He had good reason to go protect derris kharlan otherwise the world would go fucked up again. Lloyd understood this responsibility and let him go. It's called growing up, can't rely on your parents forever.
nigger this game is almost as old as you are (15 years old)
I suppose, but there's a difference between moving away from your parents and having your parent straight up leave forever.
It's not really necessary for Kratos to get rid of the Cruxis Crystals, it's just the moral thing to do
What was the point of this character
The game is ancient faggot. It's on you for not knowing spoilers from a 15 year old game. Aeris dies, Vader is Luke's father, Soylent Green is people, Yamcha gets cucked by Vegeta, and Snape kills Dumbledore.
Kratos isn't gone forever. He's up at dharis kharlan. Lloyd always knows where he's at and I'm pretty sure he could visit him if he took Collete with him.
I still don't see how kratos is considered to be a shitty father if he went out of his way to protect him.
Yeah, but he's drifting in the middle of nowhere deep space. And if his appearance in Vesperia as a cameo boss fight is canon then he eventually moved on from Derris-Kharlan
>cameos
>canon
The Vesperia battle is non canon. They don't even call him Kratos in Vesperia, they call him "traitor of the heavens" which is a reference of him betraying cruxis.
As far as canon goes he's still up at dharis kharlan. Symphonia 2 doesn't count either since it's a spinoff.
Literally the best Tales character.
>it doesn't count if i don't like it!
Symphonia 2 does count. It's considered canon, which unfortunately means Zelos is still alive
I don't know but Zaveid is 10x better
Cameo battles and spinoffs literally dont count as canon.
Agreed
As bad, as tales series
>defending dotnw
Symphonia 2 doesn't count though. If spinoffs count then so does shit like radiant mythology, that smash Bros tales PSP game, and even that dynasty warriors tales ripoff.
Bad bait
I enjoyed DotNW desu. I liked the story, the combat was decent, it had decent continuity. It's more of a direct sequel than a spinoff. I didn't like the monster system, but other than that I don't get why people don't like it
Those are crossovers, not real sequels. As much as I hate the story for ruining part of Lloyd's character, it's canon.
Doesn't matter if it's crossover or not, Symphonia 2 and all those other games I mentioned are spinoffs. They don't fall under main series line or canon route. Symphonia 2 is about as canon as Radiant Mythology 2 where you can have Judas and Leon in the same party.
>I don't get why people don't like it
Even spin-offs can be canon. Is there official word calling them non-canon?
It didn't ruin Lloyd's character, though. It's established that it was an impostor
Spinoffs can be Canon but in the case of tales it's a very blurry line. If Symphonia 2 falls under spinoff line and you consider it to be Canon, then by all means the other dozens spinoffs are canon too. How would you separate which spinoff is canon while others are not?
Therefore in my eyes if it's not main series then it's not canon.
It's that Cam Clarke voice, man.
Makes me rock hard.
...
Same. Honestly, DoTNW was what got me into Tales and as much as a lot of people didn't like it, I still held it close. That was then when I started to play the other games.
Standalone games fall under the spin-off line so that's not a good argument, especially when you admit it's just your opinion.
Yeah, he was the perfect fit for the role. The English voice acting in the game generally is good, but Cam especially hits it out of the park. I like Kratos as a character too, and much moreso than Zelos
Are you dumb? Of course Lloyd didn't kill all those people. No one thinks that.
He still had a questionable role in the story and shows that he went back on the promises he made in the previous game. It makes those moments meaningless when you back to them.
There's no official word from the devs other than they label games under two sections, main series games and spinoff games.
Destiny 2 and Xillia 2 fall under main series and everyone agrees they are canon including the devs.
Symphonia 2 fall under spin off series and nobody can confirm it's canon. It's all speculation. But it's safe to assume that if you're a tales spinoff then you're not canon because of how other spinoffs are blatantly non canon.
Remove yourself.
Symphonia 2 HAS to count, idiots. If Symphonia 2 doesn't count then the retarded plothole Symphonia opened up means the events of Phantasia can't happen.
Like it or not, Symphonia 2 is canon.
>the retarded plothole Symphonia opened up means the events of Phantasia can't happen.
what plothole? elaborate.
if symphonia 2 truly does count then why is it labeled as a spinoff instead of a main series? destiny 2 and xillia 2 are main series but symphonia 2 isn't, explain that.
We need a remastered Phantasia and Eternia
>We need a remastered Phantasia
we already have 4 different remasters of it. GBA, PS1, PSP, and another PSP remaster with voice acting.
but an eternia remake would be nice.
In Symphonia they state that if the world doesn't have any mana then the world just straight up dies. In Phantasia, in the first time period the mana tree is already dead, there's no mana and magic doesn't exist anymore. The world is still alive though despite that.
The ending of Symphonia 2 is literally Ratatosk making it so that the world doesn't have to rely on mana to survive and that it'll have a natural lifespan from then on. That makes it so even if the mana tree dies then the world will continue living, fixing up the plothole that Symphonia caused in Phantasia.
Why do birds fly?
The size of the game, low sales, production values. There didn't use to be a distinction until one of the games turned out to be a massive failure. It's marketing.
>if symphonia 2 truly does count then why is it labeled as a spinoff instead of a main series?
Being a spinoff doesn't mean it isn't canon, idiot. Tales of the Tempest is a spin-off too and it gets referenced constantly and even has characters from it show up in Innocence R and Hearts R, two main series titles.
...Don't they get Arche from the past? The magic user?
it doesn't really matter because in phantasia's ending the world tree gets revived by dhaos soul and they live happily ever after.
symphonia 2 was classified as a spinoff before it was released though. namco officially called it a "escort title"
Why do birds suddenly appear?
Tempest characters never showed up in Innocence and Hearts R. They were implied but you never saw them.
And it wasn't a large game, it was rather cheap and rushed to hell. They were working on other titles at the same time, even.
>Tales of the Tempest is a spin-off
It's actually a mainline title that was so reviled it was demoted to spinoff, so it's a bit of a different situation.
Also, wasn't it specifically described as "the land will wither and die"?
BIRDS FLY
ACCORDING TO INSTINCT
Yeah that's true. But Symphonia 2 was labeled as a escort title before it even came out. You can tell it was a spinoff title because they didn't even put too much emphasis on the old cast, for most of the game your party was random monsters.
Yeah they went into the past and found arche and she was using magic spells and can fly on her broom.
Symphonia 2 will always be shit because they replaced Lloyds Teen Titans voice
Who the fuck is the guy with the red cape??? Why is he with my wife?
Are tales characters Asian?
She is MY wife and I'm not sharing.
They are whatever race in their universe.
Mithos is a elf
Genis is a half elf
Lloyd is a human
Everytiiiime you are neeaaaar
are you fucking serious?
Escort titles are those that do not conform to the standards of the Mothership titles. They are not full-fledged mainline Tales games based on length/gameplay/etc. It should be plain as day that TOS2 is not a standard Tales while other sequels like TOX2 are. "Escort" is not used to designate whether something is canon or not, only identify the gameplay/package as non-Mothership.
Hollywood Adaptation of Tales of Symphonia
Lloyd and Kratos are black
This is the average velvetfag
>Not knowing the OG himself
kratos did not Abandon Lloyd. dirk took him away from annas body before he could get down the mountain and pick him up. her thought he got eaten by monsters.
...
i wonder what kind of person Lloyd would have been if kratos found him. would he still return to cruixs or just live in hiding with Lloyd.
It was unfortunate. Brian Beacock played a completely different Lloyd than Scott Menville. The other voice chances in the game were tolerable. As troublesome as it is for voices to change in the first place, I thought the guy who replaced Shiloh Strong as Zelos had both a fitting sound to his voice and did an excellent job perserving the nature of the character.
I have no problems with the rest of ToS 2 english dub cast, but Lloyd was just no excuse. He sounds like a different person and it's not the same.
Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality.
>This is a fight to settle who we are.
Was it kino?
as kindo as you can get.
I dont think there has been a duel in tales of series that wasnt kino.
Easily one of the best fights in the series.
The set up to it was just perfect.
>you stole my past and my future, now is all the time I have
Wished we got more of him but I loved him as a character. I'll even say that his revelation in his death with him being the happiest there, I found compelling. His backstory was albeit messy in many areas but the overall narrative was incredibly clear and cut.
And on the cherry on top, the death of himself was his own fault. Could have avoided everything if he wasn't so bent on revenge. His closure as a character, was that to realize his faults and what he had done, not what he thought.
This is Julius. I want to fuck him until he cums all over my chest.
Say something nice about him.
Julius is for fucking Ludger only.
>god tier designs wasted on shit sequel: the game
Xillia 2 was great though. My only real issue was the pick-an-assignment debt repayment structure of the game and the way a couple of the returning characters were written, Gaius in particular.
Xillia 2 was good, faggot.
Regardless of whether you hated Zelos as a character or not, his death was the best scene in that game.
there are people who let Zelos live?
His death was perfect for his character arc
Perfection.
There's at least one every thread.
>2017
>letting Zelos live
I want to marry his hotter brother.
...
Just came in to say that if you killed Zelos in anything other than just one playthrough to see what happens then you're a monster with shit taste.
I want to impregnate his brother.
fuck me, you were right
