So as a hunter you BTFO a bunch of Great Ones, and in the end you become one? wtf why do I become less of a being?

so as a hunter you BTFO a bunch of Great Ones, and in the end you become one? wtf why do I become less of a being?

You were a powerful hunter so you'll be an even stronger Great One.

You don't have to eat all those umbilical cords your blood addled degenerate

The game is a massive fanwank to Lovecraft's Dreamlands Cycle, Great Ones obviously dont exist on a single plane of existance.

tomorrow guys, someone create a hype thread.

You don't kill any great one in the real world
It doesn't count

>and in the end you become one?
Only if you choose to
>wtf why do I become less of a being?
Because you didn't? They aren't lesser beings in any way other than their inability to reproduce easily. If you think you fully killed any true Great Ones you likely did not. Probably killed them in one plane. The equivalent of killing them in one of their bad dreams.

Ebritas?

Not a real great one
It was manufactured by ancient people of Isz

If the best of the great ones cannot destroy me in a world they created, how are they any better off in the real world?

>It was manufactured by ancient people of Isz
Nice headcanon.
Oh yeah? Go and kill that amygdala that hangs around the oedon chapel. What, you cant? Lmao fucking eyeless "humanity fuck y-yeh!" shitter, go kys yourself, not that it really matters since you will just wake up.

I still d not understand the plot of this game. And vaguely understand lore. One of the best "oooh!!" moments was reading about Oedeon and his connection to quicksilver which infested almost everything in the city. Yet still, I cannot comprehend fully even that.

...

>tfw nu/v/ doesn't even know who Lovecraft even is outside of Cthulhu meme faggotry

Because you ate a bunch of umbilical chords to become one. If you don't want to become a Great One, why did you eat those chords, OP?

The game classifies Ebrietas as kin
She's not a true Great One, mate

not an argument

your an outsider seeking medical help in ruined city
find out the reason of that is because there were people involved in the spread of blood to redemy sicknesses which backfired into beasthood (or may be that was the plan all along ) spreading in the city and also find out about people chasing aliens from other panes of existing to elevate themselfs
plottwist: you get binded by a contract to get your remedy blood treatment which is owned by a great one alien with the mission to kill other aliens ... fuck knows why competition or something
turn into one yourself in the end by beating it and elevating yourself ( if you want)
thats the basics of it in a nutshell

So they created a dream world in which I can kill them in order to give me a fair fight? Seems legit.

The game also calls her a Great One, and so does the trophy.

It does talk about them being sympathetic in nature.

one can not advance without power or something. its hard for them to make new ones, that the entire point, how are you so dense

ancient old ones existed long ago, there was an old civilization called the Pthumerians who managed to contact one, and their queen became the bearer of a child of this old one. This somehow resulted in bad shit happening, beast curses, people turning into bugs, and it all had to do with blood and parasites in it. The civilization fell and hundreds of years later Yarnham was built on its long-buried ruins.

Bergenwyrth scholars discover the ruins, and discover an artificial old one still alive (ebrietas). They use its blood as a cure-all, and attempt to elevate one of their own to kin-hood like Ebrietas. This creates Rom. The process is flawed (no eyes on the inside, too much reliance on blood) so Rom is basically retarded.

A schism forms in the college of byrgenwyrth, and it splits into factions. Willem becomes obsessed with insight, a slower and more reliable path to godhood, free of the blood curse, but still corrupt.

Another makes runes, far weaker, but totally free of corruption.

Another makes the church, and goes full blood retard.

You start the game at the beginning of the end, where everything has gone to shit.

You're pulled into the mess by another old one who wants you to kill several other artificial and one or two REAL old ones and then use you to become the guardian of its dream world.

You can reject this and die, waking in the real world at dawn without fixing much of anything.

You can also fight the MP's existing guardian, and if you win, it will descend and make you its new guardian.

Alternatively, you can eat old-one child umbilical cords to begin transitioning yourself to an old-one, causing MP to reject you and fighting it.

Yes

So did all of this shit happen globally or take place in one city? Its kinda hard to picture a moon becoming all bloody and near the earth and perfectly fine elsewhere.

>hurr not an hurrgument
Ebrietas is a great one, like Rom is/was going to be. But they are are not pure, not born great ones, they were human before.

As far as I could find on the wiki it says that Ebrietas is implied to be an older version of those babies that you see everywhere (which makes sense of course) and from what we witness in the game we see one be born from a human but not originally being a human. As Ebrietas retains their kin weaknesses or some shit.
