After DLC pack 2 (OP) Marvel will have 22 and Capcom 21. Gene will be 22nd, Captain Commando 23rd for Capcom.

Literally every marvel character in the game is in there to promote MCU.

Fox owned XMen movie rights so XMen weren't part of the MCU.

Sony allowed Spiderman to be a a part of the MCU.

Sigma's popular enough, Spencer let them re-use animations and Haggar's very popular, even if his game isn't as popular as him. The only strange one here is Jedah, but he's still the antagonist of his game and Darkstalkers is more popular than Rival Schools. Zaki is not only not the face of RS in any way, but she is also from a more obscure series than any of those characters.

Not until very recently. Dante was ridiculously OP. They toned down some of the stupid characters, except Rocket, but they're still the best. Though balancing is fairly good if you’re just a good player. ChrisG made it to the finals of BotS using Morrigan and Monster Hunter; though he lost to no surprise Dante and Zero, it’s imoressive that his team made it despite being majorly disadvantaged

The game looks like shit and capcom really half assed the whole thing, down to locking most of the new characters behind DLC when they even appear in the story mode and were clearly supposed to have fights.

Gameplay is pretty decent. I mean it's kinda a massive clusterfuck of complete bullshit but it wouldn't be Marvel if it wasn't.

Balance is ok but there's a very clear top tier and despite his nerfs Dante just went down from SSS tier to SS tier and is still basically the best character in the game since combos really only scale with damage.

They're probably reused but they tend to modify how they're shown and they tend to look significantly worse. Compare ghost rider's level 3 super in mvc3 vs mvci for a good example.

I was gonna say that but then I realized it's not technically true. I think one of the scenes on the bifrost, a part of the aimbrella hallway, and a few of the fights in valkanda aren't outside storymode.

But yeah virtually everything is already playable.

They do not allow any stages with boss characters in multiplayer due to frame drops so stages are never getting in they said as much but the stage is still playable with out bosses

It's not terrible, the only real problem is that they referenced DR4. It's pretty useful too since it gives you five levels instantly

The animation isn't objectively bad. People don't like it because it's silly.
And I was mostly referring to animations on new characters, which I should have probably specified.

Most of the characters for the first season of this were already completed when the game launched and originally planned to be included by default.

Well the big difference is that Vs characters tend to be a lot more simplistic than normal fighting game characters.
These games prioritize having a larger cast over depth of individual character.
