Though I don't think they researched everything like they should because the Majestic 12 was a real group of 12 people and it's kind of weird to call an organization that offshooted from the Illuminati that. It's like they casually heard of the Majestic 12 and used it as the name for Bob Page's organization.

Deus Ex is a game for people that want to look smart, just like Nier and Dark Souls.
It has entry-level philosophy and doesn't require much thinking out of the box, but it appeals to the common gamer, so they all think it's some kind of genius masterpiece when, in reality, it's pretty simple and boorish.

Conspiracy theories like the latter simplify the cause and effect of hundreds of countries and thousands upon thousands of political entities interacting with each other and give all of that political interaction a scapegoat. It's no different than blaming video games for Columbine or Dungeons and Dragons for that guy who offed himself after playing it.

If you want an example of how complicated politics are in the world, just look at the situation in the middle east and refugees. Russia sided with arabs and started this whole mess back in the 70's, America got brought in, and over time, the conflict of bother powers like Russia and the USA and local powers like Iran, and Saudi Arabia have destabilized the region causing refugees, but America can't pull out of it completely because if we did, it would leave a power vacuum that countries like Russia or China would happily fill and make the situation even worse because the USA would now have no political control over the region and so refugees could be to flood in even more because China and Russia would treat them worse. That's just one example of how complex politics are in the world especially as things like the Internet grow and the world becomes more and more interconnected.
