Why does this game feel so sterile and lifeless? Firaxis shills needn't reply.

Because it's a turn based strategy game made to be similar to AAA cinematic experiences and not to actually be a good turn based strategy game.
Because Net Neutrality is gone. They are all going to feel like that now. Fuck Trump.
the nu x-coms are trash.
its better than XCOM EU
because valhlen isn't bitching about you blowing up ayys. It's still a good game and the chosen have some neat dialogue especially the hunter.
This. It's constrained by the needy to be flashy and shallow for those AAA bux. Mods couldn't fix the fact that 2-action turns were a terrible design choice.
Advent architecture is intentionally lifeless, but that combined with the more realistic artstyle, and the less distinct buildings and areas because muh procedural maps, take a lot of the personality away visually.
The original X-COM had battlefields procedurally generated too, though. I don't think Apocalypse did but these kinds of games benefit from procedural generation.
Because the soldiers don't bob up and down like in a JRPG
Xcom vanilla was great and Long war made it almost perfect. Xcom 2 vanilla looks great, plays nicely, but feels boring, Long war 2 breaths life into it but it cant compare to the first long war.
I don't get it, I played almost 700 hours of xcom long war, and I couldn't even finish xcom 2.
I'm currently waiting for xcom 2: war of the chosen: Long war 2, I'm hoping its better.
I've enjoyed Xcom 2 and EU. They don't have quite the same feel as the originals but I still find them fun.
Because it is sterile and lifeless. They also released it with the Workshop expecting people to make their own things for the game.
Are they even going to do wotc long war? Aren't the devs fucking off to make their own game?
>Quintipling the health of enemies makes the game better!
Long War players are so fucking stupid.
because the fell for the mod bait
t. Mario x Rabbid shitters who got BTFO in the first hour on Easy.
Remove the turn timers and install the Mass Effect mods.
I refuse to play xcom2 until it's on the Switch.
The Switch has spoiled me. I'll never go back to the antiquated way of sitting in front of a stationary display device to play a game.
It's so comfy.
theres not gonna be long war for wotc expansion, the dev already conform this
Yeah but they were stylized. It's the procedural buildings combined with the boring visual design.
Similar experience here.
My "explanation" was that XCOM-2 took a lot of the turn planing out of the equation. To me, that was what made Long War so good. The amount of planning you had to do on every turn made it satisfaying when you succeed and you could learn from your mistakes when you didn't, you could know where you fucked up beyond the RNG.
In XCOM-2 ayys would yolo regardless the situation. The plan always is "kill everything in the turn the show up", which sometime meant "bring a granedier squad".
Bottom line is that strategy wise, Long War 1 was miles ahead than Long War 2. Long War 1 was "play carefully, control the situation, back off if needed", Long War 2 was "kill everything on one turn or you're done".
It's just shit overall, even LW2 couldn't fix it
What a big disappointment
That's too bad, I was hoping Long War 2 would fix vanilla. Looks like I just wasted a ton of bandwidth on a shit game.
I don't think it's a shitty game, but it depends heavily on what you like in turn-based tactics.
Long War 2 doesn't fix the game, but it feels like it turns it into a different game, so it's worth a shot I think.
