What the most notable time you realized your purchase was a mistake?
What the most notable time you realized your purchase was a mistake?
Nine hundred. Scam Citizen.
Are you saying you spent nine hundred on one video game?
When I want to find out when I bought a really old game and go through my steam store purchase history and see a ton of community market transactions and mann co. key purchases.
God I'm so mad I must have sunk 600 dollars into that game.
Halo Reach, practically immediately. I tried to take it back to Gamestop like 2 days later to trade in for Black Ops 2 and they offered me ~$10.
Yes. ;(
interesting.
You are like baby. Watch THIS
What's KD?
Kingdom death
Around the time I forgot star citizen was STILL in production until I found out they were being sued
FFX-2
intro video / song (WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU)
when i launched vanquish and the graphics looked fucking botched, and the selling point of the game was more or less that you can slide on your knees while shooting aliens
same with bayonetta, it's just a meme game with exaggerated anime fighting
fuck you Sup Forums your taste in games is so incredibly SHIT
>preorder Sword of the Stars 2
>hype as fuck, loved the first one
>launch day arrives, install game as soon as I can
>game is almost completely unplayable
>Kerberos says that they accidentally released an alpha build of the game, working on getting the intended build out
>days pass, a patch drops that makes the game somewhat playable, but barely
>tons of shit still missing from the game
>Kerberos comes clean and says that this is actually the final build of the game
>my fucking face when it finally hits me that I paid for a fucking alpha that the devs abandoned a little more than a year later
Wow. That's fucking gay.
I guess buying Farcry instead of Timesplitters when I was a teenage idort
I made tons of bad purchases when I was young but it's hard to call them notable, especially when I have no idea whether I would've gotten something better instead. And there was no sudden realization, I learned very gradually.
That said I was sold on Farcry's supposedly advanced next gen AI (I still read game journa mags like crazy) and in retrospect that was total bullshit. I played the game a bit trying really hard to be clever and stealthy and gave up when I got spotted in some bullshit scenario for the umpteenth time.
Pokemon Ultra Moon when I realized the game was gonna be night 90% of the time. I hate night time in games.
Same here, man. SOTS2 was the last time I preordered a game.
Hey summertime saga dev here, you're all fucking idiots LMAO thanks for the money paypig cucks.
They got what they deserved in the end, though. Their publisher, Paradox, dropped them hard after that fiasco, and now they sustain themselves by releasing shitty indie games. The only thing that makes me sad is that the SotS IP dies with them.
you really gotta research your purchases, but remember you can tweak the day/night cycle with the system clock.
Resi evil op raccoon city
Paid $60 for.some.sweet couch co op with my bud but my god it was shitty
damn I got a 1 dollar key from some newegg price error video card thing, couldnt imagine spending one cent more
Magicka 2's """humor""" was so fucking shit it ruined the game for me
I tries that, but I can’t seem to get it to work. Plus I really like the exclusive pokemon.
when I started pirating
After I explored my 7th or 8th shrine in Zelda BOTW and even more so once I discovered that the four "dungeons" were all going to be the same aesthetic and basic design idea. I realized this was just going to be another Ubishit-style open world.
Dead Rising for the PC. That game did NOT age well.
Dumb ass what were you expecting? Reach came out the same year as the first black ops
Oh yeah that's right. Another company is jewing them out of their backer. Essentially forcing people to support another company they don't care about. But to be fair that's every lawsuit and taxes.
I don't blame people who made these kind of mistakes in the early 2000s because we were spoiled with a lot of solid games in the 90s. You used to literally be able to walk into a game store and buy almost anything and feel you got something worth it. Once the price of games became standard and online (DLC, etc.) became standard games started becoming shit and nobody was ready.
The most hype I have ever been for a game was when I saw the trailer for it.
It still hurts.
Fuck you, that's one of the best parts of the game.
$60 gone. Worst part was that I was pretty young so that was a lot of money for me. My friend hyped it up and I absolutely hated it.
The incessant need for twists killed it for me.
I never supported "you" and your art is unfappable. More suited for saturday morning cartoons.
>buy xbone and mcc on release day
>load up the game
>crash to desktop
>load up game again
>join multiplayer lobby
>searching... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
spent $600 AUD on literally nothing
they're not jewing them, star citizen stole Crytek's assets and marketed them as their own. They're dead
...
You went through the entire game until you hated it?
how is it bait? The (empty) open world was it's only selling point. Plus you fight three (3) enemy types and five (5) shrine variations 99% of the game
Fuck Crytek Fuck Deep Silver Fuck THQ Fuck everyone who was involved in this game and the previous one.
Why can we not get a good commie killing game now days? Instead we have le evil racist facist for the 70th time.
It's really not, though user. Also the durability makes rewards meaningless.
I got tired of the fucking twists.
Alien Colonial Marines is probably the worst one, and I knew it would be bad but my friends wanted it at launch so we all blew money down the drain. I think nothing came close to that, if I bought a really shitty game it was on heavy sale like F3AR
>Mcc multi-player dead forever
Oh man what a good hearty laugh at the expense of the xboner bros
Now you're just blatantly lying.
Durability was only ever an issue in the start of the game.
>diablo3
>torchlight 2
>tree of savior
>hell gate london
>firewatch
>>firewatch
kek, so glad I pirated that shit
Bought Witcher and Witcher 2 in a package deal bc people were saying it was good. Regretted it during the tutorial of Witcher 1. Never touched any of them again.
Man why do people have a hardon for these games? The gameplay is complete trash. I'd rather play Bop IT.
because you're a maximum pleb
Final Fucking Fantasy XV. Never been more hyped for a game, never been more disappointed my a game. I even pre-ordered the Limited Edition. It's not even THAT horrible, but it burned me so hard that I wish I never knew it existed.
Pre-ordered limited edition of No Man's Sky for 90 bucks
And to add insult to injury, the shit that came with it are false advertising. the comic book wasn't a comic book, its character models with text bubbles, and the artbook had 90% of its stuff not included in the game
There was a limited edition for No Man's Sky?
How are you able to function? being tricked into buying that game requires you to literally be a brainlet.
i deserve everything i got
>be 10 y/o me
>loved the Van Helsing movie
>grandpa takes me to walmRt
>says I can pick any video game
>pick the van Helsing game for ps2
>go home to play it
>realize quite quickly every level is the same
>camera is shit
>very clunky
>stop after two hours
>never play again
Even as a 10 y/o I knew it was terrible
I wish I could feel sorry for youNot really but that train wreck was coming a mile away. Good laughs though for the rest of us.
I don't buy games on week 1 anymore because of this.
>best mission is only the 1st and last
>all those filler missions, the past mgs game incorporated saving actual characters or getting to an important place, but V just has you killing random NPCs in tanks and saving random NPCs who contribute nothing to the story
>those shit, unfun boss fights, lame bosses
>literally everyone in the game is a fucking mute due to Kojima's laziness, only Ocelot and Miller are actual functioning characters
Open world was a mistake.
I bout it too but my computer couldn't run it. However, my friends computer could. So I took it to his house for a sleepover, but didn't tell him about it. Once he was asleep, I installed it on his computer, my friend being none the wiser... the problem though was that I took ~6-8 hours to download. So by about 5am it was finished, and I played for about 3 hours before he woke up. Got very far in those three hours though
A couple years later he mentioned his memory on that CPU was super full, and he found a game called 'spore' on it. He asked if I knew anything about it but said no (close one).
So basically I paid $60 to play spore for about 3 hours.
I rarely ever buy day 1. The only series I can think of is Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, and MGS. So yeah V was a big blow.
Thats the one thats not a game right?
Yup, just a walking sim with a horrible ending.
i bought sonic 06 on release because the cute cashier said it was good. IT'S NO USE, IT'S NO USE IT'S NO USE, IT'S NO USE IT'S NO USE, IT'S NO USE IT'S NO USE, IT'S NO USE IT'S NO USE, IT'S NO USE IT'S NO USE, IT'S NO USE IT'S NO FUCKING USE
Why didn't you ask?
Fucking this. I also regret buying Halo Wars for pc.
Hellgate was rough but I really enjoyed it. There is a fan project that is in full swing bringing mp back online and adding the content that was released outside of the us. Its pretty cool and fun to grind still
Fucking EA.
Stupid fucking kikes.
You must tell me how you were completely incapable of seeing that a mile away, with Spore it was understandable, and to be fair that game was wrestled away from Will Wright internally, the tech demos weren't just lies.
Right about here
Master of Orion 3
Did the glitches get you down?
Xeno founder for Eternal Crusade, I regret my double grandmaster pack in Warframe much less.
Corel Prison
What you are referring to as "memory on CPU" is actually register/CPU
what's wrong with gaylo wars for pc? I rike it.
I am so glad i tried it during the free weekend. the new doom is poo.
i regret buying Black ops for Ps2. i kinda regret buying kotor1, too. It's a great game, but i doesnt run on modern systems well. i also regret buying ESO, it's bad (or at least was bad, anyway).
Space Marine.
>Preorder the game after watching the first E3 trailer, and seeing the initial alpha material
>Didn't really follow much of the development after that
>Game is about to come out
>Watch the trailers again for hype
>Nowhere near the same as the alpha trailers
>Uh oh
The game was good, but god damn I was disappointed when I found out how it was butchered before release.
Kek, I think the game is pretty good. But I also find it hilarious that every single resistance fighter look like some antifa cuck.
Horizon Zero Dawn
As soon as I saw the fuck-ugly abomination that is young Aloy.
Dragonball Sagas. Holy shit I remember crying when Target told me I couldn’t return it because I removed the plastic wrapper.
What a shitty fucking game it was broken as fuck
Tf2
Promised myself I wouldn't sink any money into the game, two years later I had two mid-tier unusuals, a strange pan, a pro-ks minigun, a load of mvm completions and around 100 miscs either traded for or bought off the community market.
DaS3, after beating the faggot fucks in the archdeacon room.
Albion Online. Played about 20 minutes before I realized it was totally lifeless grind.
Realized you made a mistake during the brief opening cutscene? I think you're lying or retarded user, did you actually expect the game to have no cutscenes?
>Xboners have to make their games look better by running them on PC's
Hilarious
His shit eating grin and eye contact avoidance during interviews was all I needed to tell it was going to suck.
this kinda makes me feel better about spending $180 on warframe, still mad I did it though
I think that's a pretty valid reason to regret buying it, I personally liked the game quite a bit, but I can certainly understand why people didn't like it
Despite preordering that shit, I literally deleted it off my hard drive just after the Carnival hit. It was such a fucking disappointment. Nothing seems right in that game.
oh god I forgot that game even existed
It was fucking obvious, you're just a tard.
Either when I bought Destiny, or when I got Silent Hill Downpour.
no.
Paid full price for Witcher 2.
Diablo 3
lmao even though i enjoyed witcher 2 a lot i still made my ex gf pay for it and "rewarded" her by having sex with her
BUT user! KONAMI WAS THE REASON IT WAS BAD! THEY'RE THE BAD GUYS!
Pretty fucking pathetic when the paid demo was better than TPP.
KD >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Star Citzen though.
Argument Invalidated.
Can I come round to play it?
We are getting Amazon Vouchers for bonus this year, in the region of 300-400, I am tempted to pick up the core game with it... Or Gloomhaven and keep the rest for something else.
I bought overwatch
Smash 4 for 3DS. Regretted buying it within 20 minutes of playing it. After about 2 hours of playtime, I stopped and haven't picked it up since. Christ, what a waste of money.
It's shit compared to the first
