Star Citizen

so Sup Forums, memes aside, what do you guys ACTUALLY think about this game? personally I think it's going to be one of the best space sim we've ever had in years. yeah I know the development isn't going too well, but isn't that how it goes for almost every AAA game these days?

Less of a game at this point than Death Stranding.

I'd like to play it some fucking day when it releases. I don't play alphas or tech demos.

>You post shitty bait.
>I actually wasted nine hundred.

Chris Roberts can suck my dick. Derek Smart was right.

I think it's an overly ambitious project that is terribly managed in every possible way and I want to see it flop belly up just to see how the zealous defenders that threw thousands of dollars at it will respond.

>personally I think it's going to be one of the best space sim we've ever had in years

How many space sims have we had in years?

i think even if it falls into development hell or gets cancelled the tech created just for this game will change the face of AAA games as we know it.

I'm gonna piss in your mouth.

If the lawsuit doesn't manage to do it in, it'll be fine

3.0's closed beta release has proven the technology needed to make the "dream universe sim mmo" a reality is solid and functional. All they have to do is not run out of money and continue to develop features and content.

That said, the project certainly doesn't need the dickpunch it's getting from crytek. It sounds like they made some really shitty errors when signing the original contract with them, hopefully they'll be able to legal bullshit their way out of it and then counter-sue, because while crytek probably won't be able to prove that CIG's actions resulted in a loss of revenue for crytek, the reverse is almost completely guaranteed.

>If the lawsuit doesn't manage to do it in, it'll be fine

Even if they win they'll still be set back.

>I actually wasted nine hundred.

No man's sky did the whole space thing better and that was developed by a team of 12 on a limited budget.

game? its cash grab and retards defend it

how could they ever run out of money when people are buying $1000 ships in their empty game

Not with a $170 million budget, no.

Yes which is the whole grounds for the theorical counterclaim. CIG will easily be able to prove that crytek fucked them over with this dumb lawsuit and take everything they have left. Hopefully crytek isn't completely bankrupt and they'll be able to get back whatever money they spent dealing with this crap.

>Implying they've already won

Hopefully this'll kill scam citizen.

Kojima hasn't started selling fetuses and virtual land yet. Just wait, he'll catch up soon.

EA and other big publishers might not care, but it certainly will affect AA games. Star Citizen shows that you can make hundreds of millions of dollars with just an idea and a name behind it, you would be stupid not to try to recreate that as a developer and scam idiots out of their money for little to no repercussion.

>little to no repercussion

Just wait until the house of cards collapses. The lawsuits are already brewing and in a few years or even sooner the people behind Scam Shitizen won't be able to continue the scheme and then it's dry assfucking time for them. Just like that ponzi guy Bernie Whatshisname "scammed idiots out of their money for little to no repercussions"... until his scheme collapsed and he was revealed as a con man and a fraud. The same exact fate will fall on Scam Shitizen.

How many years has it been in serious development now?

Going on 6.

6 years now

I think it's a great concept with a lot of promise that was unfortunately headed by a criminally incompetent scumbag. My money is on Crytek winning the suit, which causes backers to lose faith in the project, which causes demands for refunds until CIG is forced to simply release an unfinished, buggy mess of a game that barely, debatably qualifies as what was promised. This will result in more lawsuits that CIG may or may not win, but in either case will shape new precedents in the field of crowd funded projects.

Good grief...

>serious development

It hasn't even started yet

>serious

Kek

i pray and pray it doesn't end up in the same boat as dayz

Seems like a scam at this point. They keep coming out with new stuff you can "buy" that costs thousands of dollars. Forget microtransactions in mobile games, Star Citizen is the king of the sea being able to bag those whales.

end up? its there

They made a dogfighting minigame right? So there is actual development being done.

just looked up some shit posted this week, there's a dogfighting mode and an fps mode

>Fans often bemoan the fact that we get a brief tease of Death Stranding, followed by months of radio silence. In typical internet fashion, the reaction can be extreme. Kojima isn’t immune to that. “There’s been a lot of stuff going on through this time, so it makes me pretty sad when people say ‘Oh, you’re just having fun and joking around and wasting money.’ You could ask so many people, but I really think that I’m doing this pretty fast. If you have a company, if you already have an engine, you already have the tools and the team together, and even then, it’s pretty standard for a AAA game to take three to five years to develop their games. For some games, it can take up to 10 years.”

Get realistic expectations

It has potential, the problem is that it is all talk.

This is all talk?

Damn... Sup Forums btfo...

>read about the crytek shit
>log on thinking I'm gonna get a refund for my shit
>would have to send an email and probably threaten with a lawyer
>nope
>check out the game instead
>it runs like dogshit in multiplayer and fine in singleplayer
>controls are a bit shitty
>looks and sounds JUST right
>remember all the hype from 2013
>want to play it badly
>it crashes
Fuckfuckfuck I love it but I also hate it.

>Pre-rendered assets are gameplay

Okay

That's literally a video made by a random player, not affiliated with the game or the developers in any way. He booted up the game, disabled the UI, sat his character in place, and recorded it for hours.

>Ships running into each other and nothing happens
>Ship crashes into the surface of the planet and nothing happens
>Impressed by a bunch of square debris and a physics engine

The absolute delusioned state of Star Citizen cucks
