Are there any genuinely good free to play MMOs or RPGs nowadays? I play WoW pretty seriously but I'm getting tired of it. Played FFXIV but leveling a white mage (i want to play astrologian) is complete aids. Literally two damaging spells that hardly do anything til like level 45 or something.
I just want a fun MMO to play. I'd settle for a decent single player game too.

Old School Runescape is pretty good if you have fond memories of playing it back in the day.
FFXIV and WoW are the standard P2P MMOs right now, but are 100% Not-good because imagine PAYING monthly to waste your time.
There is Elder Scrolls Online and Gulid Wars which are the 2nd tier popular MMORPGs.
You can play EvE online for free now but with a lot of limitations to what a free account can do. If your smart you can make enough isk to plex your account.
FFXIV is amazing.

It's got GE and other things that have reduced the social interaction even in the OSRS. And it's infested with plebbit edgelords spewing memes 24/7

You don't have to level a white mage to unlock astro later.
What you're looking for is TESO. Unironically. Wait for a sale and pick it up. Optional sub fee and hundreds, if not thousands of hours of content. It's really enjoyable.

and yes, private servers are not 100 blizzlike, but at least old expansions are scripted decent enough to be an enjoyable experience

I know how you feel, but honestly it's best to wait. 1-60 takes more time than people realise, you might just burn yourself out by the time official ones come out

Check the requirements section. There's no mention of any class prerequisites, because none exist.
