[half assed "haaayaaah" in the distance]

Shulk?

Why not complain about Jin who is actually so eye-rollingly generic it hurts the game's story

Not hard, considering how many JRPGs there are.

Persona 5 is pretty generic too though, Self inserts are the worst.

This, at least Malos is amusing.

>Generic JRPG protag
CANON. THREESOME. ENDING.

there are a legion of generic protags worse than him

>I can self insert AND fuck TWO waifus

The game was really not liked by many before his video user

I don't think Resetera counts as many desu.

Shulk hits more generic notes than Rex did, though.
In a sea of melodramatic edgelords, basic self-inserts, stoic heroes and beta faggots, Rex was actually refreshing, he's a throwback to early 00s JRPG protagonists.

I found them both awful in that regard. I'm on chapter 8 doing side quests and Rex has been benched because everybody else in the party are way better characters than he is. Same goes for Pyra and Mythra.

Persona's 5 Joker! Congratulations Atlus, you've won this award 3 times in a row!

X was hated on more it was a shit game and censored and lmao the music tracks you hear most are the worst

>waifu sacrifices herself to save the rest of the party
>gets brought back minutes later
Even Fiora's bullshit revival in XC1 was better than this

Yeah but XC1 has incredibly dumbshit of it's own like metal face's entire death sequence:

>"no shulk if you kill him you'll be just like him!"
>rocks fall and he dies

I'd still fuck him tbqh

I'm pretty sure the best girl can't come back after that though

Rex is generic, sure. But Shulk is even more generic.

>"Rex is generic"
>"YEAH WELL SHULK IS MORE GENERIC"
Well that just absolves Rex of all criticism then, doesn't it?
Oh wait, no it doesn't.

Fucking fanboys.

This.
They made the same character 3 times.

I don't know what JRPGs you were playing in the early 00s

Think pre FF7

Honestly, if the Xeno series never associated with Nintendo, nobody would have stomached this mediocre game, but because it's on the switch, it gets the Nintendo bonus.

Final Fantasy 7 came out in 1997

Just because it's on the switch? Does Operation Rainfall ring any bells?

Nobody gives a shit about surface level criticism

Complain about something meaningful, like how half of the Unique Monsters in the game bug out 90% of the time due to the dogshit pathfinding moving them into cliff-faces, jumping off cliffs into inacessible locations, or just fucking being located in arenas so small that you can't beat them without launching them off the map.

Name a JRPG with combat as good as this one, and i'll play it.

Actually, this:

>90%
Comeon man, Id say its closer to 10%, but yeah those are annoying.

Is there a lvl 95ish unique somewhere? I'm tired of beating the gonzalez, but that gladiator is too strong and I need more levels for that lvl 107 beast.

Lmao imagine having this low of an understanding of persona protags.

>yfw cross is the best Protagonist in xenoblade.

But people have been playing Xeno games since they were on the PS1, you fucking idiot.

fpbp

Nice arguments.

Edgelords are always silly fun. Generic shonen mc is bland and boring.

Stuff like Rogue Galaxy, Skies of Arcadia Dark Chronicle. Rex feels more in line with the average early 00s shonen/JRPG protagonists than a generic modern protagonist.

XB2 in general's almost refreshing because it's world reminds me a lot of the anime and JRPGs I grew up with.

That's my point, it's a subpar Xeno game that only Nintendofags like.

What I'd complain about is the AI is more dogshit than usual because of the randomness of blades meaning any character's best available setup might include a different class type than the role they're best at, so you have Nia swapping to something and drawing a shit-ton of aggro as your healer while doing fuck-all for damage.

Being reliant on your AI not being a piece of shit to complete blade combos to make chain attacks worthwhile can also be frustrating.

Or how you become massively overleveled by doing sidequests but it doesn't end up meaning much, it just makes the levels of enemies look tiny and mismatched.

And the worst is just the step back in diversity of moves mid-battle compared to 1 or X. Fucking everything is an attack that plays off only the most basic mechanics possible. No auras, no unique interactions like Dunban or Melia's combos, no secondary cooldowns, combat in general is greatly slowed down too.

Still a good game but so far my least favorite of the 3 Xenoblades.

He isn't an edgelord, he's that lowest-common-denominator bishi anime fuckboy villain with the exact same eyerolling motivation as every other identical character.

Jin fails to reach the level of character to even merit being called bad; he's fucking stale, the Crystal Pepsi of villains.

You mean Elma

>Massively overleveled
This is less of an issue in XC2 than XC1 though, I chose not to add extra levels till the end of the game and it was much more fun due to it

Rex doesn't compare to Vyse at all my man.

No, Cross.

The levels in XC2 don't mean anything though. It's the most minor of stat increases. And XC1 gated you in a different dumb way, which was scaling EXP from battles super hard. If you overleveled from sidequests, battles would be giving you like 1/100 the EXP you'd be getting if you were regular level, made them pretty much pointless for anything but the rewards/affinity/whatever other points you got for it.

I LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE

>skies of arcadia
Good taste desu
Xenoblade 2 gives me Skies of Arcadia and Baten Kaitos vibes

>Exp scaling
XC2 literally does the same thing, you get alot of exp killing something above your level, alot less if youre higher level
>Minor stat increases
I remember being the same in XC1 too, except for the fact that levels tied into accuracy, I'm not sure if thats present in XC2

He does in the area that counts the most

Which is?

Rex and Homura reminded me of Eureka 7.

It's says a lot that neither of those games are Xeno-.

Baten Kaitos was done by monolith soft though

VO

Cloud

>Zeke will never be the protagonist

Yet, it's still not a Xeno- which is the point.

I'll admit that Rex was a lot like Reyn, but Reyn-type characters don't make good protagonists, they made good sidekicks. Not to mention Reyn's personality fucking clashes with Rex's shota appearance.

To be fair he was probably going to kill him let's be real here.

Huh? no he wasn't, they all sheathed their weapons and Shulk actively tries to save Metal face

>he can't refute it
Good shit Purseowner.

Can't get any more generic than this fag right here

>Persona Protag
>Literally everyone from the opposite sex loves you

I've explained 3 games right there

I'd love to have a protag like Zeke. Give me somebody fun instead of a generic boring MC.

Jude was always a funny one.

>I'm a doctor! I like to save people!
>I've beaten literally HUNDREDS of people to death with my fists

It doesn't get any more generic than this guy. The challenge I give you is explain why generic is bad and why Chrono doesn't count despite being the same generic silent protagonist we've seen in hundreds of other JRPGs.

Post credits scenes aren't canon.

>Dragon Ball
>JRPG

XC1 and 2 use the same level scaling and penalties. You gain inversely more exp the lower you are compared to area you're exploring and vice versa. Both games have a hard exp cap too where if you fight something too high level you don't get the full exp. If you kill something more than 22 levels above you, you gain only about a quarter of what you would normally. Likewise, being too low leveled or high leveled gives a flat penalty or bonus (respectively) to agility and dexterity.

the only major difference for exp is that XC2 is that location areas reward bonus experience

Expect he probably was going to attack him anywho forcing him to kill it's a generic plot device

>creative
>JRPG

pick one.

...

>Shulk
>probably going to kill him after his speech and outright stopping Dunban from dealing the final blow, who himself asked Shulk "where's your killing instinct"
>killing Mumkhar
You're stupid

...

Chrono isn't the most generic. He's just a silent protagonist, which effectively exists to be a self-insert for the player. It's kind of a separate issue from a acting lead being a generic, typical character. Even if you don't consider him a separate type of character, there are still worse walking cliches where there is no deviation from cliche stories to the cliche conclusions with absolutely zero heart behind the character. Chrono is FAR from that.

What about him?

AND ARRIVED

Oh right. You weren't born yet.

I didn't find him very generic at all, perhaps his demon forms were generic though.

Thank god i'm not the ony one that had this feeling about Xenoblade2.
I know that one of the reason why Rex is so young is because takahashi wanted to a make coming of age story,
That would probably explain why there some vibe of Eureka 7 in Xenoblade2.

then explain why if they are just self inserts why we can't have a female mc? other than laziness.

both have a waifu on each shoulder?

he still gets a pass for being the only silent protagonist that is expendable

i'll take totally insane silent protag over rex any day

did you never play Attack of The Saiyans on DS? Which btw was made by Monolith Soft. Or those Card Game rpgs?

>tfw Yelv would've made a better protagonist

xenoblade more like kinoblade

He's not really a character.
Can you really count silent self inserts?

>did you never play Attack of The Saiyans on DS? Which btw was made by Monolith Soft.

Good game by the way. Would recommend.

Why was Zeke so perfect?

Star Ocean 4 part 2.

what's that retarded thing next to him?

His stand

>dub

otakus want to self insert
fujoshi want boy love

Why do you think adachi always places well in popularity polls? joker x adachi shippers. normal girls don't play Persona because its not cute enough and isn't a handheld game.

Yes, the objectively superior Zeke.

Zeke and Malos were the only ones that were fine in the dub.

>implying pneuma comes back

she was too perfect for this world

xenoblade 2 is literally galaxy express 999

Don't even compare shit like XB2 to Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock.
