Because it's fun. I've been waiting for it to drop on the Bone for months now, and hyping up my normalfag friends to get it. I don't feel like upgrading my PC so it's nice to play it on XBL with friends. It just runs like shit until you get on the ground and textures finish loading, and it also has crashed for me a couple times.

It mostly relies on luck since the loot and drops are random. The only tactics involved is knowing what the other players are doing and expecting what they usually do. It gets more tense once there is less than 10 people.

It's not my favorite, but I can see why people like it. The matches are quick to get into, the starting positions, random weapon placements and the arena closing in make each match fairly different, and you can either hop into the first city in sight, grab a shotgun, and plug a fool who wasn't lucky enough to get one, or use a modicum of patience and a bit of luck to get into the last 20 for slower paced, more tense gameplay. Even if you're complete shit you're guaranteed to rack up kills at least occasionally just by being in the right place at the right time.

This is more of a guess but I also think people like playing it because with 100 people and only one (or a tiny bit more if you're in a team I guess) winner out of all of them you don't really expect to win when you start out, and it makes it easier to accept the L when you're unlucky and get slotted during your first 10 seconds on the ground.

At this point, considering how badly optimized the xbox port has been, I can safely say I don't think people are playing because PUBG because it's a good game. That shit is nigh unplayable, how the hell can 1 million players think single digit fps is worth that much money?

I think it has more things to do with the game being of low quality.

It's playable for me. Yea it's janky as dick but it'll get a bit better in time. And it's fine if the experience isn't as tactical as it is on PC it makes it it's own thing sort of. The console chaos is way more interesting than camping.

I hear if you turn off the DVR function than it increases the frame rate by 10 or so and makes it much more playable.

Something being popular will always garner hate just because of that but in the case of PUBG the popularity upsets me because the game just doesn't remotely deserve it. It's an incredibly bad game in every single way.

Framerate is a mess, and movements are janky.
Literally can't run in a straight line without sprint being interrupted. I'm not sure if there is unlimted sprint though.

I still haven't figured out how to use my melee weapons, hitting Y only switches between guns.

I've been having some fun with the 50v50 mode, even though I don't normally like these types of games. At points it kinda reminds me of Ace of Spades, what with everyone building and shooting down fortifications in the middle of a pitched firefight.

I'll admit Fortnite is actually pretty fun. Been playing it for weeks waiting on PUBG to drop. As of now none of my XBL friends are interested in Fortnite, because PUBG just released. We'll see what holds everyone's interest longer. My money is on PUBG. Fortnite can be annoying at times, map is smaller, and the UI is unintuitive as fuck (so is PUBG though).

It's nice having the option to play either game if you want to without changing consoles or having to turn on your pc.
