Why do people say that RE7 Chris doesn't look like Chris. He looks closer to the original Chris than RE5/6 does.

Is REmake a good start into the RE series for scrubs?

I guess. It might make you jaded towards the older games though.

voth is the best jill. you can't prove me wrong.

I will never understand what the gun on the cover is supposed to be. It looks like a bastard child from an AR-15 and a shotgun.

I've always wondered that too. Eventually I just settled on some type of shotgun. You have to admit it looks cool.

its the best game. so prepare to be disappointed after

What's the best difficulty to begin with?

Normal

Sienna Jill

REmake is the best RE, it is pure survival horror the way RE is meant to be.

Prepare to be disappointed once you get to RE5/6.

Why are the feet blurred out? Does she have dicks for feet?

I havent played a RE since 4.

>tit eveil

>live tit evil
damn this guy is fucking dangerous

>looks like 2 mountains in the background

This shit writes itself.

feet are too lewd for a blue board.

The person you posted isn't Chris. That's Richard I believe.
Pic related is Chris
It's better to start in release order, seeing how REmake is made to play off the expectations of old fans who played RE1.
RE1 is about 4 hours long, maybe 8 if it's your gateway classic survival-horror game, so give it a playthrough. Suggested order is
>1-3 (originals)
>Gun Survivor (optional, only 3 hours)
>Biohazard 4D Executer (optional 20 minute movie)
>CODE:Veronica
>Gun Survivor 2 (optional and EU/JP only)
>Dead Aim (optional and fun)
>REmake
>0
>4
>Degeneration (movie)
>Revelations (optional)
>Umbrella Chronicles (optional)
>5 (play DLC as it's unlocked in main game)
>Darkside Chronicles (optional)
>Revelations 2 (direct follow-up to 5's Lost in Nightmares)
>Damnnation
>Marhawa Desire and Heavenly Island (manga, optional, shit)
>Biohazard the Stage (optional, good version of Vendetta)
>6
>Vendetta (movie, shit)
>Umbrella Corps (optional, shit)
>VII
>Not a Hero
>End of Zoe

That's definitely Chris. Why would they put Richard on the cover?

phew, that's too many games to recommend to someone who wants to get into the series.

I'd just as quickly recommend emulating RE1: Director's Cut (not the Dualshock version), or playing the equivalent DS port (which is how I got into the series!). From there play RE2 and 3 on whatever platform you prefer.

7 Chris still looks sort of like an older version of that pic while 5/6 Chris took outlandish liberties with his physique.

If that's who I think it is he doesn't really understand the concept of dipping one's toe in the pool. It's whole hog or nothing, it seems.

That's definitely a fine place to start.
I always thought it kind of looked like a squished Browning automatic rifle.

It's Richard because he has a custom shotgun, which is what is being held on the cover.
You could also look at the concept art, something that actually matters. VII Chris looks nothing like Chris in the art.
I could shorten it right now by removing the optional shit
>1-3
>CODE:Veronica
>REmake
>0
>4
>Degeneration
>5
>Revelations 2
>Damnation
>6
>Vendetta
>VII
>Not a Hero
>End of Zoe
>took outlandish liberties with his physique
There's a story related reason as to why Chris bulked up if you actually took the time to play CVX and watch him get his ass kicked

I don't know why people are recommending original RE1 as a starting point. Even if you love the game, it's a rather harsh way to experience the series for the first time. There are no real downsides to play REmake, going through 2, 3, CV, and maybe revisiting RE1 original around the time of RE4.

Damn, you're right. My apologies. I still don't get why they'd put Richard on the cover.

Yeah, that all happened but he still roided the fuck up. 7's rendition of him seems to be as if none of that happened.

He roided up to fight Wesker, he stopped because Wesker is dead.

Ignore this faggot.

There is no need to play original RE when REmake is the exact same game with extra bits added.

>there are two tarantulas and two crow feet on the cover art
Why did I never see them before?

which game had the best safe room music?

I suppose. Dude was still a bit jacked in 6, though even then they dialed him down a little in that one.

That's like saying that there's no reason to play OoT when the 3DS game exists. You're wrong.

Except REmake expects you to have played RE1 as it plays on the expectations of those who played the originals.
Also, RE1 has some better music (not in the Dualshock version), the Guardhouse and return trip to the Mansion is better and it's always fun to watch Chris laugh at Wesker.

She looks right. She's 18 years older in the last pic, she's literally twice the age she is in 1.

extra bits that makes the game significantly easier.

Little bit of trivia regarding the resident evil cover and why it seemingly makes no sense.

It's Richard when he first enters the mansion. The room is the first dog room where the spiders repopulate.

>expects you to have played RE1
In what way?

There kind of isn't when approached conventionally. If you're in it for the speedrunning/gamebreaking potential or are incredibly stuck up about the brighter direction of the darker areas then sure, but otherwise the 3DS version is the same game but improved across the board.

I used to think RE2 top dog, but as I got older I realized CV is superior.

You don't have to use the new controls, you can use the tank controls if you want.

ha ha ha, I'd hardly call the movies, or 0, essential! A difference of definition?

I can see that point. It was my first "classic" RE (starting with 4), so there is definitely a learning curve to figuring out how to "do" RE.

However, two things make it approachable as I think about it:

1) there is rarely more than one or two enemies per area - and at the beginning of the game, you will rarely find more than one enemy per room outside of some rooms with dogs

This means that you can take a lot of time to get used to the controls and solve puzzles without worrying about getting mobbed. RE2 and RE3 assume you've played the previous games (I feel like) and are more comfortable about putting you in hallways with 5 or more zombies.

2) the map design is still some of the best in the classic series, if only for its branching paths and semi-linearity.

This means you can go about at your own pace through the mansion and figure things out, and leave areas that are proving to be too much of a bottleneck and tackle them later. I find this is less possible in RE3, for vexample, because the game is generally much harder and forces you into combat situations (to say nothing of Nemesis encounters).

It's neither Chris nor Richard. Just shitty 'Murrican boxart that was traced over from a Judge Dredd still. It's about as relevant as Bad Boxart Mega Man.

This is the real Chris from RE1.

>dogs jump through the windows on the second run through the hall
>a dog will actually get into the main hall if you open the door, whereas in the original there'd be a cg animation of a dog trying to get in
>the use of crests in REmake
>the piano puzzle being extended

If you are playing the HD remaster play on Hard.
They introduced a new easy difficulty and shifted all difficulties down by one.
Normal is original GameCube game's easy and Hard is original normal.

>ha ha ha, I'd hardly call the movies, or 0, essential! A difference of definition?
The movies aren't that important but there's no reason not to watch them.
0 explains how the t-Virus was leaked, changing it from accidental to intentional

he doesn't

RE2 save room still gives the biggest nostaglia

And anyone who hasn't played the original will never know the difference. Non of that is worth playing the original for.

ZOEH

REmake Chris design is so fucking horrible, who thought using Jason Biggs for a model would be a good idea

The original is short as fuck, why are you so against people playing it? You can play the PC version on any computer made after the turn of the century, and it's available on PS1, 2, 3, PSP and Vita, the latter 3 for only $10

No, that user is right. It's Richard. Pretty clever foreshadowing on Capcom's part.

The fuck was even the point of making him look like that in that new movie? Leon is literally copy and pasted from RE6. Chris looks nothing like RE7 Chris, unless... "Redfield" is someone completely different...

Because there is no reason to play it when REmaster exists. And it isn't short for a first time playthrough for someone that hasn't played an RE game before.

Original is mechanically the same, and it's a classic for a reason. Not like these games grow on a tree nowadays. No reason NOT to play it beforehand. REmake is like 70% new content, you will appreciate it way, way more with having played RE1 beforehand.

>no reason

Please keep your opinions to yourself.

REmaster isn't the end all be all when it comes to RE games.

So if it's Richard than that thing he's holding ts the grenade launcher right?

>It's Richard because he has a custom shotgun, which is what is being held on the cover.
Richard didn't wield a custom shotgun in RE1. That was only added in REmake. I doubt Capcom intended anything clever or subtle for RE1's boxart.

It's some kind of special shotgun.

>It's neither Chris nor Richard.
There's one extra person in the S.T.A.R.S group photo.

I don't know why they gave him camo pants on the cover.

But it is, it is everything the original is and more and improves on every single thing.

That's Dewy, the heli pilot. You briefly see him in RE0.

That depends on how you feel about cheesy voice acting and survival items.

The existence of REmake doesn't make the original obsolete. It's still a classic that people should play if they're a fan of the series.

>unless... "Redfield" is someone completely different...
Redfield is Chris, no question about it. He just looks different, which is further evidence to suggest that he's Chris because Chris never looks the same for some fucking reason.
But they changed Jill's face to a potato, Ada's face to a nonexistant ethnicity and Barry into a grizzled samurai. It's pretty stupid to point to Leon as the baseline since apparently he's the only one who's face doesn't change. Just his hair color.

Play the DLC.

wesker'd

Nope. I'm going to take the risk of talking out of my ass here and pulling all of the names of both teams sans Rebecca from memory. That's Dewey, Forest, Kenneth, Richard, Albert, Barry and Brad in the top row. And that's literally who, Enrico, Chris, Jill and Joseph in the bottom row.

Am I the only one who finds resi 5 Chris insanely handsome.

But why?

I was 13 when the original came out and it has been one of my favourite games ever and I have played it countless times over and over.

When REmake came out on the gamecube I bought it straight away and have also played it countless times.

There is literally no reason to play the original over REmake.

nope, nope & NOPE!

On top of laughing at the voice acting which you can do by watching let's plays, I can contrive one obscure reason to play the original game. Some of the encounters and enemy placements were changed in REmake on purpose to keep even the oldfag players on their toes when they played the new version. If you were to play the original, you might be able to reset your memory of the various scares and get a better horror experience out of REmake the next time you play.

Wesker aged like fine wine.

Oh, that guy. Yeah, I dunno who that is. Are we sure it's not Rebecca?

Was this "bring your favorite gun to work day"?

I think you mean Kevin, the other helicopter pilot for bravo-team

>Are we sure it's not Rebecca?
Rebecca is more pale and I don't think I'm seeing a choker.
No but close. It was accidentally shoot your work buddy for being black day.

Well there you go. Is there any concept art of Kevin?

he kinda looks asian

>>Revelations 2 (direct follow-up to 5's Lost in Nightmares)
What?

Lost in Nightmares had files that mentioned Alex and her island.

No shit? Always wanted to play that DLC but it took years for them to release it on PC.

LiN is the only good part of 5 IMO.

MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE

I like RE7 Chris.

Me too.
He's got some good lines.

>played Lost in Nightmares for the first time this year
>huge fan of classic Resi, hear it's tight as fuck
>looking forward to playing
>start it up with my friend
>15 minutes of dicking around in a mostly empty recreation of the mansion just running back and forth collecting keys to get to the next section
>get chased by a couple of spooky executioners
>dropped into a section where you have to repeat the same retarded colour-coded bait trap 4 or 5 times
>culminates with a Wesker fight ripped straight out of the main game

What a disappointment

that fucking ORC ada holy shit

...

>No Outbreak games
C'mon user.

I never understood this. My game just ended here after the cutscene where Leon jumped in and they went to the pub.

That Kevin never was in S.T.A.R.S but he was trying to become one of them.

i want to nuzzle claire's soft thighs

Not at all

he does look closer to RE1 Chris in his current form, and overall it looks better imo, it's just irritating and jarring when they keep changing characters' designs. how are we supposed to believe that the guy in RE7 is that same meathead from 5, 6, and Vendetta?

Still better than the rest of RE5, though it's not like that sets a very high bar.

RE5 has a lot of dogshit but it can still be entertaining at times with a friend. I was just bored to tears playing Lost in Nightmares and it was less than 2 hours long

>with a friend

I suppose that's my problem but I have zero interest of playing RE with friends. I don't think friends would solve my complaints with the game's pacing anyways, I was mentally done with killing things by the end of chapter 3. Soldiered on for that Wesker death scene, though.

I agree with you when it comes to classic Resi games but RE5 is only remotely playable with a friend, I can't imagine actually having to endure that shit and having to put up with Shiva's retarded AI solo
