I know I am going to get banned for this...

I know I am going to get banned for this, but why the fuck could we have a constant thread about some random message board for weeks, but can’t have a single thread about a goverment policy that could have direct impact on video gaming?

Because you touch yourself at night

because it won't have an effect on shit
Might as well have bitcoin threads because it has a impact on PC parts

>can’t have a single thread about a goverment policy that COULD have direct impact on video gaming?

there you go champ. belongs in Sup Forums

Net Neutrality repeal won’t do shit. You really think these big companies will throttle speeds and force you to pay up? That’ll just create competition leading to smaller start ups to provide better service. Big companies don’t want that, so they’re not going to pull shady shit. The media just wants you to think that.

But a message board that has no impact should be talked about?

Yeah dude let's just wait until it's too late. That's always worked in the past.

Go discuss politics on the politics board. I know you newfags only use Sup Forums for shitposting and frogposting, but it is actually intended for discussion of politics.

>do you think these companies will throttle speeds?

Yes, or block alright. They did it before. They would not have spent millions on repealing if they didn’t plan on doing it again.

Yeah man, there's no way the only ISP in my state is going to find new and innovative ways to fuck me over. Comcast would never do that.

And the idea that new ISPs will just start up is insane.

The cost to rollout new infrastructure is so high that even a monstrosity like google couldn’t do it.

this isn't 2011. fuck off with "I only have one ISP in my area." net neutrality fucks with new ISPs trying to compete due to the cost of heavy regulations.

Neither should be talked about, mods suck and the hordes of troglodyte newfags are even worse

>smaller ISPs
Yeah, lemme just start up my own ISP with millions of dollars in capital. Lemme just lay lines that have to be approved by the state, county, and town separately. Lemme just talk to the owners of the poles (aka the telecoms and ISPs that don't want competition). Lemme go ahead and spend hundreds of thousands on marketing to get a few dozen customers.

[spoilers]Fuck off, retard.[/spoilers]

Net neutrality has nothing to do with regulations on isp startups.

The reason that in the startup days of the internet we had multiple options for ISPs is because dialup and dsl was classified as a common carrier (title 2). That forced line owners (att) to let virtual carriers (aol) used thier lines.

The internet directly benefited from title 2 until it was declassified by the FCC in 2005.

Comcast is the only ISP in my state you corporate cocksucker. No one has the millions necessary to start one up. Lube up for Ajit, he's ready for your juicy little asshole.

While I agree, the problem is you can’t discuss anything with Sup Forums because all you get is “Jews, niggers, and sjw”. And this shit is important.

now that NN is repealed. look forward for new isps in the area which would have happened sooner if NN never taken place.

How? How does removing NN make it easier to start an ISP?

I’m not really up to date with this “net neutrality” thing, so can someone inform me if it’s going to affect the internet a lot?

look up why google fiber didnt take off.

theres your answer

It won't because the repeal will just die in court.

>spoonfeed me
google it, faggot.

If left unchecked yes.

You won’t see any direct effect instantly.
The quickest effect is as ISPs start charging companies like YouTube/Facebook/Sup Forums more to pass thier data you will see higher fees for services and more ads.

Down the line you will see trial programs offered to people complaining about bills that will let the pay less for for service with parts of the internet blocked, until we grow complacent and those plans are the normals.

Because it cost to much to lay new lines while offering service at a competitive price with existing ISPs. It had zero to do with NN.

yea thats not even close to correct.

its a shame doing even 10 minutes of research is just too much for you. have fun on your bandwagon

““Everyone who has done fiber to the home has given up because it costs way too much money and takes way too much time.””

gizmodo.com/what-happened-to-google-fiber-1792440779

“it's still hellishly expensive to connect those pipes to customers' homes. ”

wired.com/2017/02/google-fiber-restructure/

There are seriously people that are anti "internet freedom and survival"?!

transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2017/db1208/DOC-348151A1.pdf

reminder the repeal was for the support competition in the marketplace.

Lol ur an idiot if you think the corproate overlords don't know exactly how to use this to their advantage. Fucking BRAIN-DEAD

Y'all niggas freaking out over nothing.
This shit still needs to go through congress, not to mention all the lawsuits that have been and will be filed. It'll be a while before anything comes of this.

The irony of this post is palpable. Why is it always that the people who understand the least are the ones the most eager to talk shit?

Because it's a reddit meme and won't effect videogames beyond pirating.

Actually it doesn’t have to go though Congress. But yes the lawsuits will stall it for a while.
